6889053 tn?1386025503 Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?
Avatar f tn My dr put me in Letrozole and I just finished my first round. My period started Thursday 7/23 and I took Letrozole days 3-7. I have now finished Letrozole and am still bleeding on day 8 and I have a baseline ultrasound on Monday 8/3 to check my follicles to see if I am good to take ovidrel. So my questing is, is it pointless to go to the appointment if I'm still bleeding. Is this cycle going to be pointless???
Avatar n tn there is always a chance it will come back unfortunetly, just have ur chckups with ur doc and he shud be able to tell u wat to eat and what excersises u can handle.

Avatar f tn OK, I have irregular cycles and I also have PCOS, my ob said for my husband and I to. Start trying to conceive, my ob upped my dosage of Metformin to 2, 500mg a day and to stop taking my birth control. He said if I don't have a period within 35 days come back, well its been two days on Metformin and I have already started, but I was wondering how long do I have to take this before I can get Clomid?
Avatar n tn I was told I have PCOS too and I was on clomid for 5 months 2 months of it was with iui in august the last one In october I ovulated on my own with proof of cm and my period also came. But this month I don't even know if I ovulated and up till now I have not seen my period. so I don't know if I'm pregnant. My period was suppose to be on 19th of nov but till now i have not seen it. I took home preg test two days ago but was negative. And I don't have any symptoms of preg yet..
1626928 tn?1378850167 HI, Letrozole is many times effective in women who show no response to clomiphene. Also the metformin will help in normalizing hormones in women with PCOS. If there are no results with letrozole then help with gonodatropins may be necessary. Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn since my periods were irregular i went to consult doctr and was adviced to take scan...i was reported that i got pcos and said its a minor problm...i was prescribed to take metformin and ovares capsules for 3 months and i took it for a month i got my periods on 13 oct......another doctor who is friend of mine said to take APCOD since its advanced...i had APCOD next month and this month my periods should be on 13-17 november..but i got only spottings..
Avatar n tn I have pcos as well. I would only get a period about every 3 to 4 months. At first I tried ovulation kits, but my periods were just too irregular. For my first child, my Dr put me on metformin. While on that, my periods became a little more regular at every 6 weeks. For this pregnancy, I first tried clomid. That didn't work so I was switched to letrozole. I had just given up on that to go back to metformin, but find out I was pregnant. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Hi! I am 27 with pcos and my fertility doctor just had me do my first round of letrozole and today I took my first injection of ovidrel! I was wondering what to expect ? Side effects/ success rates? Thanks so much in advance!
Avatar m tn No, the rate decrease if your taking metformin. I also have PCOS and I had a miscarriage in October..every since then I haven't had a period or ovulate on my own so my doctor put me on provera, metformin, and letrozole(femara) to get pregnant but the metformin alone will help you NOT to have a miscarriage...good luck to you sweetie. I think you should ask your doctor about taking metformin, it corrects PCOS also...
519935 tn?1216151210 I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year now. Started with 50 mg clomid and went up to 150 mg. changed 2 doctors in the course. Had 1 IUI with Clomid done in Feb'08. Changed to 3rd doctor after that..and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis.
Avatar f tn Sounds like we in the same boat. I also have pcos and irregular periods too.
Avatar f tn i have pcos and have tried clomide before, of which i did not ovulate on it. i have been on letrozole for the last 4months and have just gone to 5mg day 2-6. i have taken letrozole to concieve. On day 14 i had a scan that showed two follicles size16 and 11. could not have a followup scan so had progestrone level checked on D28.(irregular periods) and it was 34.
Avatar f tn Ok, so, doc doubled my Letrozole this cycle and for first time had more than one follicle growing so had hope this time..a little history, I have PCOS and Agressive Endometriosis. 2 failed IUI's so far with letrozole and HCG inj. Before that, Clomid for 9 months with no success. So this time again, follicles on the left stopped growing at 14mm, and the one on the right was 24mm today but was a anuovulated.. Spelling may be wrong.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am also on the dosage of Letrozole from D3 to D7. I wanted to know, is it always effective to take this medicine . I also suffer from PCOS. I am on second cycle now and had my MC on CD27 with pre-menstrual discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ? I used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body? Is there anyone else who has similar issues ?
Avatar n tn Also if clomid does not work (you are on a big dose of clomid) you may need to try another medication for ovulation induction like letrozole or injectables.
1550414 tn?1294039186 i have PCOS but i am thin and no diabetes, ttc for nearly two years now...i was told by my doctor i am anovulatory which made me depressed and i was on letrozole for 6 months but dint work..this is the first month i am given letrozole plus FSH injections and this made me produce one dear follicle which was 19mm and was given trigger shot 12 days ago.I took a pregnancy test 9 days after trigger shot which came out negative which confirmed trigger shot was out of my system...
Avatar f tn I have pcos as well. With my 2 yr old, I was on metformin for about 7 months when I conceived. I am now pregnant with my second. This time I tried clomid for 6 cycles the switched to letrozole. After 4 cycles (and about to just go back to metformin) I finally conceived. Good luck!
Avatar f tn / my doc prescribed letrozole so my next period I take one for 5 days at day 3 and go in for blood tests on day 22...
Avatar n tn Induction of ovulation with either clomiphene or letrozole usually gives good results. However you need to be in touch with your Doctor to prevent side effects of the drugs. These drugs can be used for 3 to 6 months. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.

Avatar f tn My husband and I have been married 16yrs and just went through a 1yr separation we ended up getting back together and on June19,2014 found out I was pregnant with both our first baby and all my life I've had PCOS and gave up so when I found out I was excited but sadly the little blessing was not growing correct and I ended up with a miscarriage on July14,2014 I was about 8 to 12 weeks along and had the d&c procedure I've had 2 periods siSo my question is what is the best and fastest
Avatar n tn I tried clomid as well a couple of years ago, with very similar side effects as you describe. The fertility specialist I am seeing now put me on Letrozole. Letrozole is actually a drug used for women with breast cancer. One of the 'side effects' is that it stimulates ovulation. Of course the dose you take for fertility purposes is much lower compared to taking it for breast cancer. I did a little research on my own and found that Letrozole is actually much safer than clomid.
