Letrozole in endometriosis

Common Questions and Answers about Letrozole in endometriosis

Avatar n tn Last week, I had Laparoscopy surgery for my endometriosis (which resulted in stage 1). My doctor is prescribing Letrozole, everyday for 2 months, to clean up any endometriosis that may have been missed during surgery. After the 2 months, I would take 1 Letrozole for 5 days to promote ovulation. Any suggestions? Right path? Or is the only option I have is another IVF? Thank you...
Avatar f tn Ok, so, doc doubled my Letrozole this cycle and for first time had more than one follicle growing so had hope this time..a little history, I have PCOS and Agressive Endometriosis. 2 failed IUI's so far with letrozole and HCG inj. Before that, Clomid for 9 months with no success. So this time again, follicles on the left stopped growing at 14mm, and the one on the right was 24mm today but was a anuovulated.. Spelling may be wrong.

Avatar f tn Research has shown that aromatase is also found in high levels in the ectopic endometrial tissue of women with endometriosis, which contributes to the growth of their endometriosis. Further research, has shown that inhibiting (making it less effective or ineffective) the aromatase by giving women an aromatase inhibitor suppresses the growth of their endometriosis, and reduces the associated inflammation. This, in turn, significantly reduces their pelvic pain.
519935 tn?1216151210 I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year now. Started with 50 mg clomid and went up to 150 mg. changed 2 doctors in the course. Had 1 IUI with Clomid done in Feb'08. Changed to 3rd doctor after that..and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis.
Avatar f tn I am not allowed to stop the tablets till week 10 if I am pregnant, but i stop in a forthnight if i am not pregnant.I am not sure about other drugs but my wall double in size in three days when i started taking them. at this point i'll do anything to have a child without going throug IVF.
Avatar f tn It is generally given to women in their menopauze. I have very thin lining in my uterus, too thin for a fertilized egg to attach itself to. I did start taking the red raspberry leaf tablets to build up healthier reproductive organs. I do appreciate all your advice and insights. I have stopped taking the Progynova since my dizziness and anxiety (these side effects are also discussed in the leaflet) make it too difficult to function in my job.
1319297 tn?1274794630 I also had cramps during my 2ww almost like ovulation pain but well after the IUI. No I didn't have to take birth control, I can't I had a mass (precancerous) in my breast in 2006 so no birth control for me ever again! Birth control is really high in estrogen so if you are high risk for breast cancer it significantly increases that risk.
99627 tn?1301270952 Regardless, one of the treatments for LPD is clomid, or letrozole. In my experience, letrozole (femara) often results in later than expected ovulation - not a bad thing but a characteristic of the medication. Concerning the 4% morphology, a better test of your partner's sperm's ability to fertilize your eggs is your IVF history. Were there any problems with fertilization? Was ICSI used?
725941 tn?1297882209 Have any of you had success with Femara (Letrozole)? I am into my first session. I took 2.5 mg from days 3-7 of my cycle and todday is cycle day 24 for me. How long will it take before I know anything? I don't feel any different other than bloating for the past few days and yesterday I was a little irritable. That could just be a sign that AF might be starting to gear up. What do you guys think?
Avatar m tn //www.onclive.com/view/letrozole-maintenance-therapy-improves-rfs-in-ovarian-cancer- 2.5 mg is the typical dose used in studies. What side effects are you experiencing? And what does your prescribing physician/oncologist say?
1190279 tn?1324936257 In my case I opted for clomid/iui because of the costs of letrozole. This last cycle I was successful with a combo of clomid/injectibles/iui. Hang in there and good luck!!
1340383 tn?1309990914 I was on Clomid but asked my RE about Letrozole because I have a friend who got pregnant twice on second round of IUI with Letrozole. RE said it was merely doctor preference. My RE has higher success rates with clomid so that's what he prescribes, but his partner in the same clinic uses Letrozole almost exclusively. I'm sure that wasn't very helpful... but thought I'd share.
1690503 tn?1325683109 If you HSG and other tests show promise, a retroverted uterus is a benign condition when it comes to fertility/chances. I have a tilted uterus, endometriosis/adhesions, clear tubes, and an unknown reason why I couldn't get pregnant naturally. The tilted uterus was the least of my concerns. I got pregnant with Clomid + IUI + trigger + Monitored cycles. Honestly, I think the trigger is what worked for me. First time was no monitoring and no trigger and the clomid + IUI didnt' work.
6889053 tn?1386025503 Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?
Avatar f tn I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march. The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.
1773487 tn?1331540488 I did letrozole(femara) with injectibles and timed intercourse. It worked first try and my baby is now a little over 10 months. I didn't have any side effects from it(except pregnancy lol).
Avatar f tn Hello, Letrozole i s used to treat certain types of breast cancer (such as hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer) in women after menopause. Letrozole is also used to help prevent the cancer from returning. It is not used for fertility treatment rountinely. Consult a gynecologist to discuss about the treatment options. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Hi Im Genevieve, my girlfriend suffers from bipolar and anxiety and panic disorder and depression i want to know more about this drug and how it can help her shes in a bad state shes in guernsey of the channel island atm they have no idea with what they are doing with her im working in bringing her to australia and getting her properly treated
Avatar f tn Femara 5 mg for days 2 - 6 shortens my cycle by about 1 week (ovulate about day 14 instead of around day 20-21). My previous femara cycle resulted in my second daughter (with IUI). Am in middle of a new cycle now and did the IUI 2 days ago. So TWW for now.
Avatar m tn Letrozole is effective in increasing final adult height. Many medical studies have shown that. Most doctors don't know it yet. The recommended dose of 2.5 mg is actually not necessary. 0.3 mg will provide similar effects.
Avatar n tn I finally broke down after 26 mo of TTC, 8 clomid cycles, 2 IUIs and trigger shots and went to the RE for advice. After AF shows in 2 weeks or so - we will start on letrozole with CD3 blood work and U/S and then do another IUI. If that is unsuccessful - we will do IVF. Has anyone done letrozole vs clomid? side affects? BFPs?
255732 tn?1318517822 I had my 1st appt with an RE today. He wants to do a superovulation / IUI with Letrozole. I am to take 2 - 2.5mg tablets days 3 - 7. After reading up on this, it is the same thing as Femara right? Has anyone taken this med and does it actually work alone? My other ? is, he said that we can try this for 3 - 4 cycles, but after that we have to think about IVF?? The only things that I have tried in the past are 4 cycles of clomid and 1 IUI. Why would he skip injectables??
