letrozole getting pregnant

I was on Clomid but asked my RE about Letrozole because I have a friend who got pregnant twice on second round of IUI with Letrozole. RE said it was merely doctor preference. My RE has higher success rates with clomid so that's what he prescribes, but his partner in the same clinic uses Letrozole almost exclusively. I'm sure that wasn't very helpful... but thought I'd share.

I switched to clomid, had no mood swings at all (even though they warned me that I would) and I was less stressed out and I think the stress was keeping me from getting pregnant. I got pregnant in 4 cycles. Of course, once I got on Clomid I had "stopped trying" by the third cycle on Clomid. No OPK, no IUI, just the medication and a vacation with my husband. I would take a vacation with your partner and try to let things go.

I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative? It's now the end of Nov. and my period still has not shown. I'm so hurt and frustrated. I just want to be a mommy so badly. My dr said that if I don't get my period by mid Dec., she will start me on Letrozole. I really wanted to try metformin, but she insists on trying this Letrozole medication.

I recently used letrozole 5mg day 3-7. got pregnant 1st round but had a misscarriage at 11 wks. my insurance did cover this medication and i have humana. i will try this cycle without the meds if not successful this round i will try a cycle of the letrozole in feb. good luck..

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?

When I went back to my OB to begin my prenatal care, she asked how I ended up getting pg. When I told her about letrozole, she said she never heard of it. So....keep your head up. It can and it does work!!!

Just before i found out i was pregnant my doctor had prescribed me letrozole femara which I didnt end up needing to take. Unfortunately, because I was so overwhelmed with grief over the miscarriage and could not think rationally, I decided to take the letrozole counting the bleeding from the d&c as a period in which i used from day 2 throught to day 6. As mentioned, it has now been 3 weeks 4days since the d&c and today I had a positive pregnancy test.

My husband and I have been trying for almost 1 year. I was on Clomid for 6 months and last cycle switched to Letrozole. Now my period is 4 days late and 2 pregnancy tests say NEGATIVE - this is killing me! My OB has told me I will have to take progesterone to bring on my period. Has anyone else had a late period due to Letrozole or had negative PG tests but turned out they were PG? Thank you.

thanks yall for all the info. i took another hpt tonight and it was bfn. im not supposed to test until sunday, but im impatient. i read that femara is for postmenopausal women only and if you are premenopausal not to take it? obvisouly we arent post so is it safe to take?

My fertility doctor put me on 2.5 letrozole days 3-7. Has anyone got pregnant with this medicine? How long did it take?

I have stopped taking CLomid because I have not gotten pregnant using it. I was wondering how long Clomid stays in your system. Would it be possible to get pregnant without taking Clomid if I have PCOS.

I had my 1st appt with an RE today. He wants to do a superovulation / IUI with Letrozole. I am to take 2 - 2.5mg tablets days 3 - 7. After reading up on this, it is the same thing as Femara right? Has anyone taken this med and does it actually work alone? My other ? is, he said that we can try this for 3 - 4 cycles, but after that we have to think about IVF?? The only things that I have tried in the past are 4 cycles of clomid and 1 IUI. Why would he skip injectables??

I used Clomid for the past 3 months and ovulated, but had no luck getting pregnant. I had an HSG last month (November) and this month my new Dr. put me on Letrozole. I had an appointment and u/s yesterday (CD 14) and they said my follicles were not big enough and to get the Ovidrel shot and that I should "sit out" this month and call my Dr. on Monday to see what she thinks as far as where to go from here. When I was on on Clomid, I didn't ovulate until CD 16 or 17.

I finally broke down after 26 mo of TTC, 8 clomid cycles, 2 IUIs and trigger shots and went to the RE for advice. After AF shows in 2 weeks or so - we will start on letrozole with CD3 blood work and U/S and then do another IUI. If that is unsuccessful - we will do IVF. Has anyone done letrozole vs clomid? side affects? BFPs?

I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer and have been offered a trial on Letrozole before and after surgery along with radiotherapy. I would appreciate knowing any side effects when taken along with Lithium and mood swings suffered if any.

My period started Thursday 7/23 and I took Letrozole days 3-7. I have now finished Letrozole and am still bleeding on day 8 and I have a baseline ultrasound on Monday 8/3 to check my follicles to see if I am good to take ovidrel. So my questing is, is it pointless to go to the appointment if I'm still bleeding. Is this cycle going to be pointless???

I think that the letrozole may help regulate your cycles more. I would think that if your cycles are longer, then obviously it will take longer for you to conceive. If you break down that the average women's cycle is 28 days, that means that the amount of times/year that they can try and get pregnant are 12-13 times. If you have a 40 day cycle, then your average times/year to try and get pregnant is 9.

I'm also on Letrozole (Femara). I got pregnant my 2nd month taking it. I've just started it up again since that pregnancy was a blighted ovum (nothing to do with the Femara). It doesn't have the side effects that Clomid does and it also doesn't thin out your uterine lining either. It's worked wonders for me! All the best, take care!

LMP was 2/11,took Femara day 5-9, HCG shot- 2/26, IUI-2/27, Period started 3/09. Do you think I may have LPD? What are my chances of getting pregnant with my history. Thank you.

Gave me symptoms. I am now on letrozole. Also experiencing symptoms. Will letrozole keep this cancer away. Is there a smaller does than 2.5 of letrozole that I can take.
