My AF started a few days earlier than expected. I have started another round of Letrozole and added dexamethasone this time. I go to the Dr. for my monthly visit Friday.

Hi There! On my first round of Letrozole(Femara) and no ovulating is showing. Anyone not ovulate the first month, but then start next couple months, or is this med not like that?? I don't feel the best on it, but will try anything. Had our first little guy a year ago with in vitro. We can't afford that route again, so hoping we are blessed by just doing prescription helpers. But I don't want to keep taking something that makes me feel awful if it isn't going to kick in.

i'm only 24. do you think it's ok to use letrozole? i've been on ortho evra for a year then me and my fiance decided to have a baby soon. I had an abortion before and now we are having a hard time to get pregnant. On my first pregnancy, i got pregnant as soon as i finished my period and not using the patch. Do you know if the abortion makes me having a hard time now, or is it the patch? please help.

I'm having around 31 day cycle and I'm of age 30 . I have been on letrozole 2.5mg in my last cycle( first time) CD 3-7 . My OB suggested to have intercourse on CD 13-17, but when I checked with OPK , it showed negative from CD 13-20 . could anyone tell me if I could have ovulated earlier than CD 13 or is there any chance that I could ovulate anyday from CD 21-24 or so . Could anyone please help me with this.

Yes I was on clonus for 9 months before the letrozole and yes it had been 3 days between the last 2 sonos. I go back Friday for sono to double check. I'm sorry to hear about your ending with ectopic but hang in there. At least you know now that it's possible to conceive..

I was on Microgest, Folic Acid and letrozole. I was on these meds for 3 full months. but nothing has happened. Now I am on Metformin did a cycle of Clomid and currently having a combi of Metformin and Duphoston. How long since I will Conceive? I despeartely wan to. Also, My hubby had normal sperm analysis. I had been using clomid, but my lining is very thin so my RE switched me. It worked great for me. On clomid I had 2 follies. On letrozole I had 6! I didn't get a BFP but it was bc my progesterone was too low. I liked it much better than clomid-no side effects at all. Good luck to you!

Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.

We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.

Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?

I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march.The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.

I don't understand your question .... if you mean the difference between Femara and Letrozole .... if you mean the difference between the two names there isn't any. Letrozole is the Generic Name for Femara. Regards ....

i did use Letrozole for 6 cycles...but no BFP...there were no side effects either....just got cramps during those entire cycles...i know 2 of my patients who used d same...one of them who had PCOD concieved with timed intercourse n letroz...d other who had endo like me didn't...however she got preggo by ICSI...Letroz is now banned in several countries but here in India its widely used....

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?

Letrozole is effective in increasing final adult height. Many medical studies have shown that. Most doctors don't know it yet. The recommended dose of 2.5 mg is actually not necessary. 0.3 mg will provide similar effects.

I have done Letrozole twice now, one with an IUI that ended up with a BFN this morning. I'm super bummed about it...trying to be as positive as possible. Will go in for a beta tomorrow morning to check where my hormone levels are-that has to be helpful to know, right? We've been ttc for over 2 years now and had a mc in Feb. 08 when trying w/o meds or anything. I had no side effects with Letrozole and my lining was great apparently.

Hi! Yes, letrozole is the same as femara, and it does work alone. I used it alone for three cycles, and I had two mature follicles each time. As for moving straight to IVF after femara, I'm not sure why he wouldn't suggest injectable/IUI first...but you could always bring that back up if you don't get pregnant over the next three/four cycles. My doctor put me on Clomid 100 mg (day 3-7) for three months. Besides the side effects for me were pretty bad (mood swings, crying for no reason, vision disturbances, ovary pain, back pain) I didn't ovulate until day 21. I used OPK's but no luck in detecting my LH surge. So I phoned the fertility clinic and they did E2 and LH. The same day they called me back and my E2 was very high so I had an ultrasound.
