519935 tn?1216151210 I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year now. Started with 50 mg clomid and went up to 150 mg. changed 2 doctors in the course. Had 1 IUI with Clomid done in Feb'08. Changed to 3rd doctor after that..and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis.
6889053 tn?1386025503 Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?
Avatar f tn Hi! I am 27 with pcos and my fertility doctor just had me do my first round of letrozole and today I took my first injection of ovidrel! I was wondering what to expect ? Side effects/ success rates? Thanks so much in advance!
1626928 tn?1378850167 5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.
Avatar f tn Ok, so, doc doubled my Letrozole this cycle and for first time had more than one follicle growing so had hope this time..a little history, I have PCOS and Agressive Endometriosis. 2 failed IUI's so far with letrozole and HCG inj. Before that, Clomid for 9 months with no success. So this time again, follicles on the left stopped growing at 14mm, and the one on the right was 24mm today but was a anuovulated.. Spelling may be wrong.
Avatar n tn However I would recommend two other options. One is to consider a drug called letrozole. Sometimes clomid, although it makes women with PCOS ovulate, causes the uterine lining (or endometrium) to be too thin to support a pregnancy. Letrozole does not have this side effect. Another set of drugs to consider are injection fertility drugs. It is pretty common for clomid to fail - only about 50% of women who ovulate on clomid actually get pregnant.
Avatar f tn Hello, I too have PCOS and insulin resistance. I was on clomid but still not ovulating for several months. My endocrinologist put me on metformin as well and both my doctors agreed it might help with conception. I was also told to cut out simple carbs and refined sugar. After 3 months of metformin and monthly clomid cycles I finally ovulated in August. And amazingly I conceived the same month. Just had my first prenatal visit and saw the heartbeat yesterday!
Avatar m tn No, the rate decrease if your taking metformin. I also have PCOS and I had a miscarriage in October..every since then I haven't had a period or ovulate on my own so my doctor put me on provera, metformin, and letrozole(femara) to get pregnant but the metformin alone will help you NOT to have a miscarriage...good luck to you sweetie. I think you should ask your doctor about taking metformin, it corrects PCOS also...
Avatar f tn I have pcos as well and have never had regular periods. With my first child, I was taking metformin and using ovulation kits. I am now pregnant with my second child. This time I tried clomid (with no success) then switched to letrozole. I was about to go back to taking metformin, but found out I was pregnant. It is very difficult when you barely ever ovulate. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I wanted to know, is it always effective to take this medicine . I also suffer from PCOS. I am on second cycle now and had my MC on CD27 with pre-menstrual discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ? I used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body? Is there anyone else who has similar issues ?
Avatar m tn i have pcos.. had an abortion8 months back and since then i have been trying to conceive..took clomid 50 mg.. there was a mature egg took hcg.i dint get pregnant. my husband semen analysis showed no problem. then started clomid 50 mg again and 100mg.. egg did not grow beyond 10 mm.now my doc has put me on letrozole....as this is an anticancer drug it worries me and as side effects i has birth defects in babies.i dont know if i should take it or not???and wht if its does not work.
Avatar f tn My period started Thursday 7/23 and I took Letrozole days 3-7. I have now finished Letrozole and am still bleeding on day 8 and I have a baseline ultrasound on Monday 8/3 to check my follicles to see if I am good to take ovidrel. So my questing is, is it pointless to go to the appointment if I'm still bleeding. Is this cycle going to be pointless???
1340383 tn?1309990914 I have used both and after five attempts with clomid no success and the first try with letrozole I got pregnant with my son due to placenta ruption. I'm trying letrozole again with this cycle.
605966 tn?1222328808 Good luck and have happy and safe nine months...
1773487 tn?1331540488 I did letrozole(femara) with injectibles and timed intercourse. It worked first try and my baby is now a little over 10 months. I didn't have any side effects from it(except pregnancy lol).
Avatar f tn OK, I have irregular cycles and I also have PCOS, my ob said for my husband and I to. Start trying to conceive, my ob upped my dosage of Metformin to 2, 500mg a day and to stop taking my birth control. He said if I don't have a period within 35 days come back, well its been two days on Metformin and I have already started, but I was wondering how long do I have to take this before I can get Clomid?
Avatar f tn since my periods were irregular i went to consult doctr and was adviced to take scan...i was reported that i got pcos and said its a minor problm...i was prescribed to take metformin and ovares capsules for 3 months and i took it for a month i got my periods on 13 oct......another doctor who is friend of mine said to take APCOD since its advanced...i had APCOD next month and this month my periods should be on 13-17 november..but i got only spottings..
Avatar n tn I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and was on depo to help with the pain, but now I would like to have another child I only have one and he is 9.... I'm off depo now, what advice would you give me on trying to conceive?!
Avatar f tn Since I have PCOS, it is really really hard to tell the difference between pregnancy symptoms and just everyday PCOS symptoms.
148691 tn?1260194903 In March, i got discovered a fibroid in my uterus and was put on lupron to shrink it. In May i went under Lap and found no fibroid and some endo that the RE took care of. Now, after all this time and my husband's good SA results, both have been checked for blood and chromosomal disorders and we are all clear, we still can't get pregnant!! IT IS SO FRUSTRATING! I have not seen my period in forever! I made an appointment for a follow up with RE and we are gonna discuss a 'plan B'.
1190279 tn?1324936257 I had letrozole(femara) and follistim and only had 1. They should monitor you so you know how many follicles u produce before u do the hcg shot. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with pcos a year ago. My husbad and I have been trying to get pregnant for two years. I recently just finished my first batch of letrozole.I just did my first ovulation kit today. Has any one else tried this type of medicine, how long was it before you got a positive on your ovulation test and howl long before you conceived?
1340383 tn?1309990914 just want to know if anyone has experienced any success with this drug? and how is it different/better than Clomid? what are the side effects?
256553 tn?1258883918 Hey!! This is my third round of letrozole. 1st with an iui, 2nd with natural trying, 3rd with iui on may 2nd. This is my last round of letrozole so I pray it worked. Good luck!!!!
Avatar n tn PCOS does not go away, it is only treatable. You have to stay on the meds and matain a healthy weight so your pcos does not flare up. If your overweight, losing weight will help bring ovulation back if you do not ovulate on your own.
