No, the rate decrease if your taking metformin. I also have PCOS and I had a miscarriage in October..every since then I haven't had a period or ovulate on my own so my doctor put me on provera, metformin, and letrozole(femara) to get pregnant but the metformin alone will help you NOT to have a miscarriage...good luck to you sweetie. I think you should ask your doctor about taking metformin, it corrects PCOS also...

I also have pcos and I had to take 2000mg of metformin for 3 months before my menstrual became regular. I know everyone is different. I justhad ivf done I'm in my two week wait to see if both or one of my embryos stuck. And also clomid helped alot and also letrozole which is also know as femara.

i was reported that i got pcos and said its a minor problm...i was prescribed to take metformin and ovares capsules for 3 months and i took it for a month i got my periods on 13 oct......another doctor who is friend of mine said to take APCOD since its advanced...i had APCOD next month and this month my periods should be on 13-17 november..but i got only spottings.. i have confusion on which medicine should i follow...?

At first I tried ovulation kits, but my periods were just too irregular. For my first child, my Dr put me on metformin. While on that, my periods became a little more regular at every 6 weeks. For this pregnancy, I first tried clomid. That didn't work so I was switched to letrozole. I had just given up on that to go back to metformin, but find out I was pregnant. Good luck!

and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis. Have done all the tests from blood work to HSG and all are normal. Tested my husband too and he too is fine. I am not sure if we should try on our own without Letrozole or should go for IUI with injectables. Also, will doing intercourse every day help or every other day?

This time I tried clomid for 6 cycles the switched to letrozole. After 4 cycles (and about to just go back to metformin) I finally conceived. Good luck!

I have pcos as well and have never had regular periods. With my first child, I was taking metformin and using ovulation kits. I am now pregnant with my second child. This time I tried clomid (with no success) then switched to letrozole. I was about to go back to taking metformin, but found out I was pregnant. It is very difficult when you barely ever ovulate. I have been taking Metformin 1500mg/day and sometimes Provera 10mg to get a period and then Letrozole 7.5mg cd 5-9 but never got any results. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over 2 years. Im 26 years old and desperate to have a baby.

Sadly, clomid did not work for me and does not work for most people with PCOS. I tried clomid for 4 months. 50 mg, then 100mg and 150 mg twice. Not one of those times did I have and egg grow or ovulate, I took clomid days 5-9 of my cycle. After that (just this past month) we tried Letrozole (provera) 5mg and low and behold it worked. I took it on days 3-7 of my cycle.

So here's my PCOS, Metformin and soon to be clomid story.... After a long list of doctors and tests, I was finally diagnosed with PCOS, Being that I've been dealing with PCOS symptoms for as long as I can remember I have mixed emotions with my diagnosis.. Even a little anger that it has taken so many doctors and years to finally get an answer. PCOS problem... Took letrozole and injectibles and had 3 IUIs done in Dec2010, Jan 2011 and April 2011... all BFNs... took a 4 month break from meds... started TTC journey again in Dec 2011.. Lezra 2.5mg days 2-6, Gonal F 75IU on CD 7-9.. U/S on Day 11 showed leading fllicle size as 11mm.. upped Gonal F to 150IU on Days 11 & 12... CD 13... No growth at all.. leading follicle size was 12mm... cycle bust!! Jan 2012 ... repeated meds.. Femara 5mg. CD 2-6, Gonal F 75IU on CDs 7-9.. U/s Day 11..

Hi Everyone, My dr. prescribed me to provera to help me get a period. I took it for 7 days, 1 tablet a day, at 10mg. I'm also on 1000 mg of metformin, and 100mg of spironolactone each day. I've finished my 7 days of the provera and have not had a cycle. I've had spotting but no full fledge flow. This is very concerning to me. After I went off the pill in July of 2010, I was getting cycles each month, not always the same days apart, but pretty close.

My doctor put me on Clomid 100 mg (day 3-7) for three months. Besides the side effects for me were pretty bad (mood swings, crying for no reason, vision disturbances, ovary pain, back pain) I didn't ovulate until day 21. I used OPK's but no luck in detecting my LH surge. So I phoned the fertility clinic and they did E2 and LH. The same day they called me back and my E2 was very high so I had an ultrasound.

I just started metformin with provera and once I get my period, I have to take letrozole(femara). I pray it works for me because I really want a child.

i was on metformin for almost year and clomid for 6 months only conceived once and ended up with MC. also if you are over weight they give metformin to help you reduce weight as well especially in PCOS. PCOS is never shown in blood test you need a good scan... :) best of luck anyway... hope it works for you....

I had been using clomid, but my lining is very thin so my RE switched me. It worked great for me. On clomid I had 2 follies. On letrozole I had 6! I didn't get a BFP but it was bc my progesterone was too low. I liked it much better than clomid-no side effects at all. Good luck to you!

I wanted to know, is it always effective to take this medicine . I also suffer from PCOS. I am on second cycle now and had my MC on CD27 with pre-menstrual discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ? I used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body? Is there anyone else who has similar issues ?

i am on metformin and thank good it is working for me i used to weight 115 after pcos went to 170 now i am on 160 lost ten pound after i started metformin.but you dont loose it right away so keep on it.
