Avatar f tn I am a breast cancer survivor for 3.5 years. After surgery, I had radiation therapy, plus taking tamoxifen. My cancer is stage 1 and grade 1Gradually, my hot flash is stopped and my life is back to near normal. I noticed that I always very thirsty, my eyes are dry, my skin, hair also dry. I also have joint pain occurred in joint, both small and large joint.
Avatar m tn I have body aches, joint and muscle pain and trigger finger. I am 55 years of age and already have osteoporosis. I know that letrozole can also cause osteoporosis. My doctor has decided I only take letrozole every other day because of my side effects and osteoporosis. I hope this amount will still keep the cancer away. Any suggestions on someone taking it every other day.
Avatar f tn I had many side effects from that medication including depression, joint/bone and muscle pain and after a year I came off it and went on the pill continuously and it works like a charm for me. I understand the pain you are talking about and the fainting. From the day before my period my body would start to feel weak and the day of, good Lord the pain was so intense I would throw up. I would lose a lot of blood and it would last for over 7 days.
Avatar n tn Side effects seen more often with tamoxifen versus Femara were hot flashes and vaginal bleeding. Joint pain was experienced more often with Femara versus tamoxifen. ref: http://www.femara.com/home.jsp?m=2 Additional side effects for both Femara and tamoxifen are heart attack, thromboembolic events, endometrial cancer and second malignancies. bOTH THE DRUGS CAN CAUSE GAIN IN WEIGHT.

Had 1 IUI with Clomid done in Feb'08. Changed to 3rd doctor after that..and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis.

1340383 tn?1309990914 I have used both and after five attempts with clomid no success and the first try with letrozole I got pregnant with my son due to placenta ruption. I'm trying letrozole again with this cycle.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.
6889053 tn?1386025503 So, I took birth control for a month and a half to allow it to shrink. I then started Letrozole this cycle. I would go with what your doctor says. From my understanding, the Letrozole will help you to produce follicles, where Metformin helps to regulate insulin, which in turn helps you to ovulate. Taking the Letrozole may be good, because you need follicles.
Avatar f tn I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march. The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.
1773487 tn?1331540488 I did letrozole(femara) with injectibles and timed intercourse. It worked first try and my baby is now a little over 10 months. I didn't have any side effects from it(except pregnancy lol).
Avatar m tn I don't understand your question .... if you mean the difference between Femara and Letrozole .... if you mean the difference between the two names there isn't any. Letrozole is the Generic Name for Femara. Regards ....
Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
Avatar n tn I dont want to wait and see what will happen. I asked my doctor about Letrozole and he said that was our Ace card if we needed it. I want to give my kid every opportunity to reach his genetic potential and the maintenance treatment with cortef will not do this. I am not please with the course of treatment that we have been given and am looking for a second opinion based on my sons case.
Avatar f tn Hi Im Genevieve, my girlfriend suffers from bipolar and anxiety and panic disorder and depression i want to know more about this drug and how it can help her shes in a bad state shes in guernsey of the channel island atm they have no idea with what they are doing with her im working in bringing her to australia and getting her properly treated
Avatar m tn He advice to treat him with Letrozole but I am not finding any information about this medication. I saw some blogs on web and many of them states 'Not for Children" so I am very concern. I am also worried about my son if he should be treated for bone age or should i let me progress naturally? Dr. concern is his final height. They feel if he is treated by Letrozone, it will delay his growth plate which will allow him to grow much longer. I am looking for help here.
Avatar f tn Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise anyone ?
Avatar m tn She was treated for breast cancer in 2001 with no lymph node involvement. She recently was experience stomach pain and went for a sonogram, (seeming unrelated transient intenstinal inflammation that went away). During this time they discovered "small spots on her liver" subsequent tests within the last few months have revealed the information below.
Avatar n tn I finally broke down after 26 mo of TTC, 8 clomid cycles, 2 IUIs and trigger shots and went to the RE for advice. After AF shows in 2 weeks or so - we will start on letrozole with CD3 blood work and U/S and then do another IUI. If that is unsuccessful - we will do IVF. Has anyone done letrozole vs clomid? side affects? BFPs?
255732 tn?1318517822 Hi! Yes, letrozole is the same as femara, and it does work alone. I used it alone for three cycles, and I had two mature follicles each time. As for moving straight to IVF after femara, I'm not sure why he wouldn't suggest injectable/IUI first...but you could always bring that back up if you don't get pregnant over the next three/four cycles. Best of luck to you!
