Avatar f tn Hi. Just to clarify matters: Femara is the brand name of the drug letrozole. Since you've already taken this drug and it has caused you severe joint pain, it's really not advisable for you to be taking it again. In the MA-17 clinical trial, Femara/letrozole was intended to be given for a duration of 5 years after Tamoxifen. However, patients in that study were only treated for an average of two years before the study was unblinded.
Avatar f tn ” “ The causes of the gynecomastia can result as a side effect of numerous medications and drugs of abuse, for example: Corticosteroids and anabolic steroids. Antibiotics. Herbals like dong quai, tea tree oil, and lavender. Opioids (narcotic drugs) Estrogen (including those in soy products) Heartburn drugs.” https://www.medicinenet.com/gynecomastia/article.
Avatar f tn Try starting counseling as well for the depression and Gynecomastia. The gynecomastia leads to body disturbances for males especially at a young age. This can be causing a big part of the depression. Also talk to the health care provider about weight and see if this could have something to do about the low testosterone levels.

Avatar m tn I'm 25 years old, and I have had gynecomastia (I'm not sure if it has come and gone or I just go a long time forgetting about it) since I was a teenager. I remember my pediatrician dismissing it when I was in school. I also remember getting it looked at again, either it left and came back, or I just forgot about it until my anxiety problems started, when I was 19 or 20.
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to our site and forum. I agree with Jack650's comments. This is likely gynecomastia and you can read more about it here https://www.webmd.com/men/what-is-gynecomastia#1 Please let us know your thoughts on this information.
Avatar m tn If your hormonal changes are not corrected, you may have an increased risk to develop testis cancer (for which you may want to have regular visits with your doctor), more than the possibility that there is already testicular cancer responsible for the gynecomastia and other changes. Discuss things with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question and we apologize for delay in response! We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.
1340383 tn?1309990914 I have used both and after five attempts with clomid no success and the first try with letrozole I got pregnant with my son due to placenta ruption. I'm trying letrozole again with this cycle.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.

Avatar m tn He specializes in cosmetic and migrane surgery. I had an exam with him last week and he also thought that i have Gynecomastia. The chances of a male my age having breast cancer are slim to none he said but we decided to monitor it for one more month to see if it gets any smaller or starts to go away...if not we will be removing the lump at the end of May.
Avatar m tn When i come to know that this is due to enlargement of breast tissue (Gynecomastia), i spoke to my parents about surgery. But they are scared and they said that try to reduce my weight rather than going for surgery option. In another 2.5 months i am getting married. I am always worrying about how can i tell this to my future wife after marriage ? is there any possible ways to get rid of this problem ? Can reducing my weight to 66 kg through exercises, following GM diets help me ?
Avatar m tn Overweight and obesity are potential causes of gynecomastia, and the excess fat actually increases estrogen levels. Making better food choices to help reduce your body weight may help decrease breast size. Fill your diet with low-calorie, nutrient-rich foods to help reduce your calorie intake and promote weight loss. Good choices include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nonfat dairy foods and lean sources of protein such as poultry, lean red meat, seafood and beans.
6889053 tn?1386025503 So, I took birth control for a month and a half to allow it to shrink. I then started Letrozole this cycle. I would go with what your doctor says. From my understanding, the Letrozole will help you to produce follicles, where Metformin helps to regulate insulin, which in turn helps you to ovulate. Taking the Letrozole may be good, because you need follicles.
Avatar n tn The only real way to get rid of true gynecomastia is with surgery and if there is an untreated underlying cause it can grow back even after surgery.
Avatar m tn The surgery is quite expensive and I would like to avoid it if possible. I have been researching and found there are pills that can help reduce the Gynecomastia. Please advise if that is a safe route to take.
