Avatar n tn My doctor told me that I was as good as new and he seen me getting pregnant within the next 6 months......5 months later I found out I was pregnant and I am now 22.5 weeks and everything looks great....If you have any questions please ask...
1340383 tn?1309990914 I have used both and after five attempts with clomid no success and the first try with letrozole I got pregnant with my son due to placenta ruption. I'm trying letrozole again with this cycle.
1204794 tn?1300704113 I switched to clomid, had no mood swings at all (even though they warned me that I would) and I was less stressed out and I think the stress was keeping me from getting pregnant. I got pregnant in 4 cycles. Of course, once I got on Clomid I had "stopped trying" by the third cycle on Clomid. No OPK, no IUI, just the medication and a vacation with my husband. I would take a vacation with your partner and try to let things go.
6889053 tn?1386025503 I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative? It's now the end of Nov. and my period still has not shown. I'm so hurt and frustrated. I just want to be a mommy so badly. My dr said that if I don't get my period by mid Dec., she will start me on Letrozole. I really wanted to try metformin, but she insists on trying this Letrozole medication.
1190279 tn?1324936257 I recently used letrozole 5mg day 3-7. got pregnant 1st round but had a misscarriage at 11 wks. my insurance did cover this medication and i have humana. i will try this cycle without the meds if not successful this round i will try a cycle of the letrozole in feb. good luck..
Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
Avatar f tn I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march. The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.
Avatar n tn Please help me, I dont know what to do. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over 2 years and I am afraid that i may have now ruined all my chances.
Avatar f tn My husband and I have been trying for almost 1 year. I was on Clomid for 6 months and last cycle switched to Letrozole. Now my period is 4 days late and 2 pregnancy tests say NEGATIVE - this is killing me! My OB has told me I will have to take progesterone to bring on my period. Has anyone else had a late period due to Letrozole or had negative PG tests but turned out they were PG? Thank you.
1340383 tn?1309990914 I have tried clomid in the past about 6 times also with no success, my Dr put me on letrazole and i became pregnant on second attempt unfortunately it ended in a miscarriage Nov09 but I know now i can get pregnant. So try it out I am now recently back on it and I believe it will work again, they say letrozlole wont dry you out like clomid so that's another plus...
Avatar f tn thanks yall for all the info. i took another hpt tonight and it was bfn. im not supposed to test until sunday, but im impatient. i read that femara is for postmenopausal women only and if you are premenopausal not to take it? obvisouly we arent post so is it safe to take?
519935 tn?1216151210 I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year now. Started with 50 mg clomid and went up to 150 mg. changed 2 doctors in the course. Had 1 IUI with Clomid done in Feb'08. Changed to 3rd doctor after that..and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis.
Avatar m tn t had a period or ovulate on my own so my doctor put me on provera, metformin, and letrozole(femara) to get pregnant but the metformin alone will help you NOT to have a miscarriage...good luck to you sweetie. I think you should ask your doctor about taking metformin, it corrects PCOS also...
1640824 tn?1325888415 My fertility doctor put me on 2.5 letrozole days 3-7. Has anyone got pregnant with this medicine? How long did it take?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever used letrozole to help become pregnant? If so any side effects or anything you want to tell would be helpful.. thanks!
Avatar n tn i want another child. my first child is 5. me and my boyfriend has been having sex while i been on m period.. and he has been nutting inside me... (we wanna baby). could i get pregnant?? and if not that way when do i no when to try an conceive?
255732 tn?1318517822 Hi! Yes, letrozole is the same as femara, and it does work alone. I used it alone for three cycles, and I had two mature follicles each time. As for moving straight to IVF after femara, I'm not sure why he wouldn't suggest injectable/IUI first...but you could always bring that back up if you don't get pregnant over the next three/four cycles. Best of luck to you!
671083 tn?1239110841 I used Clomid for the past 3 months and ovulated, but had no luck getting pregnant. I had an HSG last month (November) and this month my new Dr. put me on Letrozole. I had an appointment and u/s yesterday (CD 14) and they said my follicles were not big enough and to get the Ovidrel shot and that I should "sit out" this month and call my Dr. on Monday to see what she thinks as far as where to go from here. When I was on on Clomid, I didn't ovulate until CD 16 or 17.
Avatar n tn I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. Please hang in there and things will fall into place in time. I was in a similar situation. After unsuccessful clomid / IUIs cycles I was determined to move onto IVF. I know my doctor did not like my decision to move onto IVF but I was determined to get pregnant and I personally didn't want to waste time and money on things that did not work. I was blessed to have insurance cover most of the cost but it is expensive.
Avatar f tn Hi Im Genevieve, my girlfriend suffers from bipolar and anxiety and panic disorder and depression i want to know more about this drug and how it can help her shes in a bad state shes in guernsey of the channel island atm they have no idea with what they are doing with her im working in bringing her to australia and getting her properly treated
Avatar f tn Hi. Just to clarify matters: Femara is the brand name of the drug letrozole. Since you've already taken this drug and it has caused you severe joint pain, it's really not advisable for you to be taking it again. In the MA-17 clinical trial, Femara/letrozole was intended to be given for a duration of 5 years after Tamoxifen. However, patients in that study were only treated for an average of two years before the study was unblinded.
Avatar f tn My period started Thursday 7/23 and I took Letrozole days 3-7. I have now finished Letrozole and am still bleeding on day 8 and I have a baseline ultrasound on Monday 8/3 to check my follicles to see if I am good to take ovidrel. So my questing is, is it pointless to go to the appointment if I'm still bleeding. Is this cycle going to be pointless???
256553 tn?1258883918 Hey!! This is my third round of letrozole. 1st with an iui, 2nd with natural trying, 3rd with iui on may 2nd. This is my last round of letrozole so I pray it worked. Good luck!!!!
Avatar f tn I think that the letrozole may help regulate your cycles more. I would think that if your cycles are longer, then obviously it will take longer for you to conceive. If you break down that the average women's cycle is 28 days, that means that the amount of times/year that they can try and get pregnant are 12-13 times. If you have a 40 day cycle, then your average times/year to try and get pregnant is 9.
Avatar n tn The first doctor I saw told me I was fine, and there was no reason I wasnt getting pregnant. After wasting a year with him, I saw a new doctor who just looked at my transferred chart and knew I had a low antra follicle count. Have you had this procedure done? Its only an ultra sound of your ovaries, and they count your follicles. Depending on your age, your count varies.

Avatar f tn I took femara(generic letrazole) along with follistim and it worked first try, I am now 9w2d pregnant. I didnt have any side effects. And we did novarel to trigger ovulation so we were right on time. Hope it works for you too. Good luck.
99627 tn?1301270952 RE put me on Femara this month and did IUI again, unfortunately did not get pregnant. I started having cramps on 6 DPIUI and spotting. My period came early. I usually have 28 day cycles and I always thought I ovulated on day 14. This past two month U/S confirmed that I ovulated later than I thought. Example: LMP was 2/11,took Femara day 5-9, HCG shot- 2/26, IUI-2/27, Period started 3/09. Do you think I may have LPD? What are my chances of getting pregnant with my history. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question and we apologize for delay in response! We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.
