Avatar m tn 6 months ago I started having high BP. Long storie short I was put on procardia xl. Started at 60mg then the Dr. rased it to 120 mg. Was working fine for about 2 months. Then I started having a racing heart high pules in the 100s. Went to the ER. And they droped my dose to 90mg. I noticed I have been getting a lot of heart burn. And gas in my chest after I take these pills. Mood swings High pulse. I have complained to the Drs. But they told me to keep taking it.
Avatar m tn i am having TAZLOC H 80 MG, PROLMET XL 100 MG AND PROZSIN 5 MG.
21064 tn?1309308733 Thanks for doing this, Connie! I take 80 mg of Sotalol, twice daily for atrial fib and SVT. My EP warned that it would do nothing to curb the PVCs- and he's right. My PVC's are not usually too debilitating if I can resist getting "mental" about them! I'm taking 10 mg of Prozac, once daily to control my panic disorder along with Klonipin (Clonipin?) 0.25 mg as needed (insurance, as you say!).
280234 tn?1532986249 The cardiologist kept me on the Toprol XL 25 mg, then increased it to 50 mg daily for the tachycardia, but that was making it too low. The cardiologists then switched me back to Toprol XL 25 mg daily.
Avatar n tn Wife, 89, has history of atril fib and is prescribed lisinopril (40mg), lasix (40mg) and lanoxin (20mg) along with coumadin (5mg) daily. Recent wide-ranging BP/Pulse readings (160's/80's and pulse below 50) led to adding Toprol XL. First tab last night at bedtime resulted in lowered BP (128/50 and pulse of 41) this AM. Accompanied by inability to urinate (except few drops) for a water drinker.
Avatar f tn I take 200 mg of toprol xl (metoprolo er), 100 morning, 100 night. My tables can be broken in half to make a 50 mg dose, which I have also used. I'd guess your 50 mg toprol xl can be split in half to give you a 25 mg tablet. I'm not suggesting what dose you should use, just saying I think you have a way to take 25 mg accurately if that's what is needed. I take the med to slow down my HR, driven by AFig. When in sinus I was taking 100 mg and had a rest HR of about 60.
Avatar m tn thanks, my medicines as mentioned in my earlier post have reduced my bp from 200/100 to 120/80 only problem is swollen ankle.i met my doc yesterday and now he prescribed me TAZLOC H 80 MG (TELISMARTAN HYDROCHLORIDE) and PROLMET XT 5O MG .
Avatar m tn I recently started taking Toprol xl 25 mg because my resting heart rate will sometimes be a little above 100. The cardiologist i went to told me to take it only when i have an episode of a fast heart rate which only happens like every other day or so. After reading information on the drug through i feel like all the websites say to take it every day. Is it still safe to take it every few days or so?
687614 tn?1244197979 BP is in the normal range finally. Cardiologist wants me to take this dose in the morning and now add 50 mg of the XL in the evening. Now what I don't get is my pulse spikes at odd times and then drops quite low, even in the middle 50's60's. Is adding this extra dose going to make things too low? I was just curious as to how many adjustments you had to make and for what reasons.
Avatar n tn If he was prescribed 100 mg Toprol XL once/day it should be the same as taking metoprolol tartrate 50 mg 2/day. We are not physicians nor pharmacists and you should consult one or both about drug substitutions and dosage equivalents.
656309 tn?1224489859 I went from brands name Wellbutrin SR 150 mg once a day, which made me energized and active, to brand name Wellbutrin XL 300 mg once a day. Now I am sleepy, lethargic and there is no buzz or energy at all. What's up??
428155 tn?1203688894 I was on Lescol for cholesterol control but decided to try just losing weight. I lost 50+ pounds by eating smaller, more frequent meals and eating low fat. (No fried foods, limited meats, went to low-fat cheeses, cottage and low-fat frozen ice creams and yogurt.) It worked. My cholesterol and blood pressure dropped into the normal range and I got off the Lescol and BP meds. Have kept up the same way of eating and have maintained my weight loss with little effor. Might want to try it.
Avatar n tn I've been on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg for about 6 months...I recently started taking once a day SR...to me the SR is less effective...I don't fell anything...it doesnt really feel like it curves my depression. I only tried it to compare the difference...I prefer the 2x a day I feel much better and actually feel it working...thats just my personal experience...however when I talked to my M.D. the switch wasn't harmful I guess its the chemical reaction to ur brain/body...good luck!
Avatar n tn I was released from the hospital yesterday after a two day bout of atrial tachycardia and off and on atrial fib. My Toprol XL was increased from 100mg to 150 mg. 100 mg in the morning and 50 mg at night. I have low blood pressure (90/60) and I'm afraid that taking the extra 50 mg at night will drop my blood pressure too low and I could die in my sleep from my bp bottoming out? Is this an unreasonable fear?
Avatar f tn my hormones were low so dr put me on hormone pills and thyroid pills,i haad been on wellbutrin sr about 1 year 300 mg to counteract sexual side effects from prozac,it didnt help though,so my dr changed me from 300 wellbutrin sr to 450 mg xl,tonight for the first time in ages i feel kind of dizzy..ondering if it might be to high of a change over on the wllbutrin,,hoping after prozac is out of system i will have a sex drive any info would help or has anyone switched from the sr to the xl?
Avatar n tn I have been on this combination for 6+ years and doing pretty well with them. In May 2008 I was started on Toprol XL 25 mg. It worked for my blood pressure and lowered it but it also made my depression worse and I finally went to my doctor to get off of them. I am now weaning off of the Toprol XL. I am on the second day of 12.5mg and I can't tell you how bad I have felt all day. Extreme anxiety and jittery. I CANNOT wait for this drug to be out of my system.
Avatar f tn My LDL is 223 and before 222. when taking toprol XL 50-75 mg. My cholesterol is 177 when I am not on antihypertensive drugs. Is there any documentation that proves Toprol XL can elevate cholesteral levels. Thank you, Sandra Smigielski R.N. This discussion is related to Toprol XL and Benicar side effects.
Avatar f tn Hi, Everyone. My EP switched me from Sotalol (160 mg daily) to Toprol XL (25 mg daily). His instructions were to stop taking Sotalol (no weaning) and start taking Toprol. It was a HUGE leap of faith for me as I have tried to not obsess about this. Today was my first day. I'm doing fine, but want to know if anyone else has made the same switch and faired well. Thanks!
Avatar n tn can i ween myself off of welbrutin XL. been on at least 2 yrs.
Avatar m tn New cardio. was on atenolol 25 mg 2x daily for aortic valve disorder, but had issues of impotence and very very low heart rate, as well as numerous palpitations. Cardio swithced me to metoprolol xl 25mg 1x daily. my heart rate has gone from the high 50's to the high 80's from yesterday to today. Is this normal? I believed that the xl on the metoprolol was extended release, and that the dosage should do the same thing as far as hr and bp. by has gone from 116/68 to 138/89.
Avatar m tn You should have reduced from 75 mg to 50 mg to 25 mg to 12.5 mg and then stop over a period of six or eight weeks. I have safely done this when my heart rate started dropping in to the low 30's and found that the rate gradually increased as the dosage decreased. My resting rate is now 68 or so and does not drop lower than 60. Oddly enough, my blood pressure did not change.
Avatar f tn My pharmacacy switched my "Toprol XL 50 mg" to a Generic one called "Metoprolol Succinate ER 50 mg" (manufactured by Sandoz) in December 2007. I have been on some form of Beta Blockers for years and I thought nothing of it. Within a week I was at my eye doctor because my left eye went from 20/20 to 20/60 and was so blurry that I felt like I had suntan lotion or something in it. Since then I have been to so many doctors because things just kept getting worse.
20719280 tn?1504576414 My doctor called it orthostatic hypotension, which made sense. My blood pressure was low (~80/50) and my doctor suggested I stop taking one of my medications (spironolactone 100 mg). That did seem to increase my blood pressure some, it testing at 120/70 last time it was checked, but the problem has persisted. Lately (about a month ago) it's gotten worse and more persistent, now coupled with shortness of breath.
