lescol

428155 tn?1203688894 After reading all the side-effects of statins, I am afraid to start using this drug. All the forums I have read about this are filled with people warning others away from statins because of the terrible side effects. I cannot find any forums where people actually say they were helped by statin drugs and did not have bad side-effects. Can anybody help?
Avatar n tn I started with Lescol , then lipitor and now Crestor. The reason for these changes was to try to find a product that does not cause so much muscle cramps. This I decided I had enough. Craps in leg and foot musles have become unbearable. Can you suggest a remidy to avoid incresing my chol level again.

Avatar n tn If a patient has drug eluding stent (DES) implant it is recommended that plavix (clopidogrel) be prescribed up to a year to help prevent blood clots with the implant. If one has A-fib there is a risk that blood clots can occur as blood may pool due to the very fast beat. Information regarding the use of the 2 anti-platelet together can present a problem and the source is MedinceNet.com.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your reply. He has been on (5) Vytorin, Lipitor, Lescol, Baycol and Crestor. I know that he had great success lowering his Cholesterol with at least 2 or 3 of these agents, but he has suffered terribly each time with very acute muscle pains that are virtually non-stop. The pain resolves gradually over weeks as he stops taking the medications. And his test results (CPK, etc.) improve as well. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Most importantly, the adverse effect is related to the dose, the specific statin, and drug-drug interaction. For example, the higher the dose, the higher the risk for myalgia. In addition, the risk of myalgia ranges from 5.1% with fluvastatin (Lescol), 10.9% with pravastatin (Pravachol), 14.9% with atorvastatin (Lipitor), and 18.2% with simvastatin (Zocor). And you have been on both atorvastatin (Lipitor) and pravastatin (Pravachol).
Avatar n tn A year ago, my doctor gave me Lescol/Fluvastatin to take because I am a high risk for heart disease due to genetics and diabetes. At that time my Lipids were within normal range. After a month, ALT/AST results were very elevated. and medication was discontinued. Since then, I've gone through ultrasound, HiDa Scan and finally diagnose of fatty liver. The Gastroenterologist recommended Liver Biopsy to check for liver damage.
Avatar n tn Has anyone gotten worsening of their PVC's from taking a statin drug? I seem to be intolerant of these drugs and have tried Crestor, Lipitor and Lescol. My PVC's go absolutely nuts when I take them. I have done my own tests by going off and on them. I consistently get worse when I'm on them. I take C0Q10 and a whole bunch of supplements including magnesium to no avail. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Lipitor (atorvastatin), Lescol (fluvastatin), Mevacor (lovastatin), Altoprev (lovastatin extended-release), Livalo (pitavastatin), Pravachol (pravastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin), and Zocor (simvastatin). Combination products include: Advicor (lovastatin/niacin extended-release), Simcor (simvastatin/niacin extended-release), and Vytorin (simvastatin/ezetimibe). The new labels will warn patients about: Memory loss and mental confusion.
Avatar f tn Amy Karch, RN, MS, of the School of Nursing at the University of Rochester Medical Center, an expert on drug interactions, explains that grapefruit juice is one of the foods most likely to cause problems with medications. The cytochrome P-450 3A4 enzyme breaks down grapefruit juice into useful components for the body, just like it breaks down dozens of medications.
Avatar m tn Humbly asking yr considered opinions: Genotype 1. Fibrosis 3/4. Age 50. 5'10", 225lb. Wk 5 PegIFN2b 150micrograms + 1400mg/d - 1600mg/day ribavirin. Wk 4 RNA pending. 1413149 tn?1344004027 t affect your period, if anything it might make the bleeding heavier. Is Arixtra the only drug you got? Perhaps you should talk to your doctor about why your period might be late... is your period usually regular?
424839 tn?1268186246 So when going up against some one with a drug habit you have to remember that it is a learned behavior to take the drug along with the intense desire to take the drug.
Avatar m tn I did try all the common statins in increasing introductory dosages from 5-20mg like lescol, pravachol, lipitor, crestor, red yeast rice, high dose EFA nutraceutical and one other I can't remember over a 10 year period. The memory loss is not responsive to CoQ10 and that was the most serious side affect. I'm told now, that I should never take more statins because very little is apparently known about the rare side affect and much more severe reactions are possible.
Avatar m tn Hi, my question is regarding an intrathecal drug pump and drug testing. The short story is that I've had 21 back surgeries, and after being on many (just about most) pain meds, my doctor finally put in a drug pump with dilaudid. As most probably know, this pump is installed in the abdomen with a catheter that runs to my back and is inserted into the intrathecal space of the spine (where the spinal fluid is). So the medication does not go into my blood stream or cross the blood brain barrier.
Avatar m tn Ron, can I join you eating lems?
Avatar f tn I just keep seeing posts that say they drug test mothers and babies at birth. I never saw any paperwork or lab results with my first nor was it ever mentioned. Is this a secret thing they do or random maybe? I would think you would have to sign some kinda papers? I mean i dont care if they test me and baby or not...we're clean...but i just never really even thought about it. I would think if they suspected the baby having withdraws in the first 24hrs.
Avatar m tn Hey, is it possible to collect the fumes using some fan and duct system and bubble it through water , thus allowing the fumes to dissolve in water and then send the water sample for drug test? What I would suspect is, if you do not take any drug yourselves, could some one else be drugging you with out your knowledge?, take care.
Avatar m tn Asacol is not particularly recommended in patients with renal damage, but the issue is that alternative drug therapies may not be as effective or may have varied side effects. Nevertheless it is advisable to replace it with nicotine patches and one or the other newer drug modalities that bypasses the kidneys to prevent it from further damage. It would be best to discuss this with your treating gastroenterologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
