Avatar n tn My father needs to lower his cholesterol, but Statins cause him significant muscle problems (Myositis) and elevated Creatine Kinase CPK and Aldalase. His symptoms resolve and tests return to normal when the Statins are discontinued. What Cholesterol drugs can he try that do not have Myositis as a side effect?
Avatar n tn I started with Lescol , then lipitor and now Crestor. The reason for these changes was to try to find a product that does not cause so much muscle cramps. This I decided I had enough. Craps in leg and foot musles have become unbearable. Can you suggest a remidy to avoid incresing my chol level again.
Avatar n tn t find the right medicine...Lipitor caused severe muscle weakness, Zetia caused all kind of digestive problems and Pravachol zapped my energy...my count actually went up 30 points while taking WelChol! My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern.
Avatar f tn Statin-associated myalgia, or muscle pain and aches, is a common side effect of the popular cholesterol-lowering agents. In clinical trials, about 1.5 - 3% of the patients reported the adverse effect. However, now it is believed that the incidence report may be as high as 10 - 20% post-marketing. Myalgia is more common with patients who are older, Asian, female, and those with lower body mass. Other factors include overt physical activities and alcohol abuse.
Avatar f tn I have hashi and joint pain, muscle ache, stiff body, frozen shoulder. You get a feeling as if joints are connected in a crude manner. When you have prolonged pains like this, our brain tries to avoid any movement that can cause pain. This kind of makes you less mobile and lethargic...
Avatar f tn She did blood tests and did an ultrasound all blood tests came back normal and no blood clots. The pain in my muscles has taken over my whole body, it hurts to walk, carry my 4 month old son (who I almost dropped last night), bend over and basically move. I went into the emergency room one day because it was really hard to swallow and i couldn't feel my throat. The ER doc gave me some vicidan for the pain and it didn't help at all.

Avatar f tn t talked to you before, but I would like to say hi and give you some advice about joint and muscle pain. I am sorry you are having these problems, I feel for you. I have Stills disease which is a arthritis kind of like rheumatoid arthritis, it is very painful. Do your joints become hot, warm, red, swollen or tender? Are you running any kind of fever? Do you have any rashes? Are both of the legs or arms affected or just one side? Have you tried naproxen? Meloxicam? Flexeril? Baclofen?
Avatar f tn Well I went to see an oesteopath and he said that he thinks that I do have carpal tunnel...but the numbness and tingling was also happening in my feet (I forgot to mention that in my post). So, honestly, I really didn't think it was carpal. The thing is that I have had this muscle pain since February and I didn't start exercising until about a month ago. I hate not knowing what is wrong with me. It's just a horrible muscle pain, and it makes me feel so tired too!
Avatar m tn ve been having very bad muscle pain and weakness in my legs and was wondering what I might be able to take to help ease these symptoms before I see the Endo. It's making me hard to get up and down from my desk at work. Thank you.
691140 tn?1230503945 , Well Doc, I found co.codomol very effective and for muscle pain which got so bad I went to physio as I thought I has some underlying condition that they had not diagnoised .... Hot baths give great relief. psychologically talking to others who are on treatment helps enormously. I am at week 46 of 48 and I have had it all from spots to hyperthyroidisim. Just treat your aches and pains as they come each day on treatment is a day nearer the end of therapy and a healthier you.
Avatar n tn I had to come off of Lipitor after one week due to severe muscle and joint pain. My mother had moderate pain after starting Lipitor. We were both encouraged by our separate physicians to take coenzyme Q10 with the Lipitor. While my pain continued, my mother's pain has almost completely disappeared.

Avatar n tn The more I learned about trigger points and hypothyroidism, the more I began to notice referred pain- the muscle causing pain can be in an opposite area you feel the pain. This requires patients and detective work on your part to find it. I am still finding these referred areas myself! Don't give up. I could not ski for six years without major back/hip flareups and resulting nerve pain. This spring I skied three times, each time a little more.
Avatar n tn 2009 i decided to try the family practice physician he listen to my symptoms and sent me to get ultrasounds for my constant right hip pain.

Avatar f tn I had bilateral knee replacement done in 2008. I went through the operation with no pain. Now, it's a different story. I have jolts of muscle and tendon pain. By that, I mean, if I take a step I get a jolt, which sometimes throws me forward. Sometimes, when I am walking I get a spasm of pain, then it will go away. I do not have constant pain. My walking is not very straight. Anyone with this kind of problem?
