Could someone please tell me what the actual with drawal affects are of going straight off Oxycontin and how long does it take to get out of your system. I have seen the with drawal of people that have slowly cut down but not someone who actually has to give up straight away. She is devistated and in so much pain. She is only allowed Panadine forte and Nurofen plus which does nothing.

Am I reading your post correctly that you were taking 80 mg of Oxycontin 3x per day and 40 mg of Oxycontin 3x per day? If yes, keep reading...LOL. I thought you wrote that you were taking 80 mg and 40mg total of Oxycontin per day. That is why my post to your other thread stated that you were on more medicine through Fentanyl than through Oxycontin. That is not the case if you taking the 80 mg and the 40 mg 3x per day. That is 120 mg x 3 or 360 mg of Oxycontin per day vs.
Then, 2-3 years ago, I fell down some stairs, and now I have sciatica in my left leg. Yay clumsiness! So, I have a couple of herniated discs, some arthritis, plus which, the sciatica. Six years ago, I decided to try pain management. I was prescribed 30mg Roxicodone 4x a day, then about a year later put on OxyContin 80mg 2x a day, with the Roxicodone for BT. Wow.
Since I had my son, I was prescribed percs.. I had those for about a month and moved onto methadones, to oxycontin.. Its been about four and a half months and I am ready to be done. I am curious to see how bad withdrawal will be. I have gone days here and there without using.. Only took 40 mg methadone a day, and if I didn't have that 80mg of Oxycontin... Has anyone gone through withdrawal after this short of time?
t believe me. They believe that a small amount of the virus stays in your body forever. I agree with them. Some do not. You will never get every doctor to agree on every fact about this virus.
Here's the bottom line: Is she a virgin? Did she get the vaccine before she started to have sex? Has she slept (safe sex or not) with more than 4 guys in her life? If she has slept around, then she's been exposed to it too. If you are going to tell her, let her know the stats.

And is the ingredient that makes the pills tamper proof considered an" inactive ingredient" which to my understanding is somehow not importan . Personaly I never have been a fan of the whole Oxycontin craze.. I have never found it to be that effective for pain control.
Hi, I have some questions regarding weening off of oxycontin... In my previous posts, I stated that I was going to start suboxone... but I really don't want to do that, and get hooked on that.
So here is my next gameplan:
I take 240mg of oxycontin per day, 3 times a day.
Starting today, I am going to take just 1 80mg tablet, 3 times a day. I want to see what my body will do.
Here is my question: If I decide to go cold turkey and stop altogether, I will use the thomas recipe...

t have a good plan on tapering but I do know that Oxycontin comes in 20 mg, 15 mg and 10 mg. Personally, I would do the oxycontin first, but that is just me.
See if your doc can help you come up with a plan and help. I know you need to stabilize from one taper before starting the next one or at least I should have. I did do some tapering, but the length you have been on the pills and if it is for chronic pain all play into this.
You need to be so many hours free of the narcotic in your case oxy, and be in a certain state of withdrawals, otherwise you'll find yourself in real trouble.
Also, from what I understand, suboxone is a program, not just a pill. And if you stay on it past a certain length of time, you'll have another dependence, if not addiction. My understanding is suboxone is extremely hard to get off of.

It started at 40 mg of hydrocodone per day up to 40mg of oxycontin, 60mg of morphine, and about 50mg of oxycodone ir as needed. I'd say around 7 years total and all prescribed by my MD. As for the 24mg of suboxone per day it was very unusual for me to take that much and looking back it was probably to help with anxiety/panic attacks.
I'm not completely withdrawl free but this is NOTHING like withdrawling from the oxy or morphine.
thanks for the response and i do understand what you are saying. I could have been more clear. I am not interested in the "gel" thing whatever it is. My sister can't stand the strength and length of the longer one and i wondered if it was possible to take it in smaller doses and how to do that. This is what the dr wants her on but a whole one makes her sick to the stomach. Why can't you just make pieces---smaller amts that would be safe??? Is that clearer jeph?
I was reading up the effects of crushing up the oxys and it read that doin so would or could result in an overdose.. i am in the process of tapering off... i was just woundering just for peice of mind what the dose would have to be to actually overdose... i am currently on 120mgs a day and dropping.. i am scared a night sometimes to fall asleep do to respitorie depression.. thanks any feedback would be appriciated.
