4369618 tn?1353528920 Most magnesium is stored in the tissues, so leg cramps, foot pain or muscle ‘twitches’ are usually the first signs
4856858 tn?1365378777 6 weeks post triple and I am starting to get muscle spasms. In my feet, hands and a little in my calves. Anyone else have this? What can be done?
Avatar f tn potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, vitamin B complex, or vitamins B1, B3, or B6 and Vitamin D. Generally deficiencies of any of the above can cause muscle twitching and spasms in localized or generalized areas of the body. Get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms. Hence if you take alcohol or coffee then cut this down.
Avatar f tn Then comes severe burning pain, from all the spasms...like I have overworked the muscle in a gyn. I can only describe it as feeling like someone is holding a blow-torch to my muscles. My word, it hurts. It's BAD. I too have gone the Balofen route. I cannot take it during the day, because it makes me too weak. I take 30mgs. at night, only. I also have Restless Leg Syndrome, so my doctor has me on 3 mgs. of Klonopin at night for that.
Avatar f tn My spasms like to change spots throughout the day but it prefers my left side. I do get spasms in my right leg but nothing compared to the left.Sometimes the muscle will be so stiff, it will look like I'm flexing my muscle. It constantly stays in that flexed state. Are you on any medication for your spasms? If not, you really need to be. I get some relief from Baclofen. It is a CNS muscle relaxer. It takes away the muscle spasms and relieves the spasticity.
Avatar f tn On top of other problems, I have recently been having muscle spasms in my hands, legs and feet. The hand problems occur when I've driving, holding up the newspaper, writing a letter. My hand gnarls up into an ugly claw, my fingers spazzing painfully. The problem with my legs and feet usually occurs after I've been asleep. I will be awakened with muscle spasms in the ball of my feet or the calves of my legs or sometimes the deep muscles on the inside of my thighs.
Avatar f tn Yes magnesium is good for muscle cramps/pain/spasms too. I take about 425mg of SloMag a day (regular magnesium gives me diarrhea). If you take Epson salt baths be sure to hydrate yourself.
373367 tn?1246402035 Stacey I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. You have a right to get tx. for pain and if spasms are causing pain ...Ask the doc . what he can do for you .. Even the gp can order something . I don't understand the 'wait and see' or 'don't tx. w/o dx.' . Very barbaric in my humble opinion.. You need relief NOW. Stacey , my very best wishes to you .
Avatar m tn I get extremely painful muscle spasms in right leg below the knee. It's always my right leg. My doctor prescribed 300 - 600 mg a night. This does not seem to be very effective. Also have acid reflux. Prilosec is not as effective as it once was. I was on prednisone for years for polymyalgia rheumatica. No known side effects. I wonder if it would help with the muscle spasms I am 78 yrs old and aside from the above, in excellent health. Suggestions welcome!
Avatar n tn I am surprised, as I thought they were prescribed to help the pain. Once the spasms get started, the pain medication does very little. I have taken SOMA, which is mildly effective for an hour or so. It just makes me sleepy. I have tried Baclofen and still take Baclofen at night, but I can't say that it helps very much either. I have yet to find anything that really controls the spasms.
427842 tn?1212029515 I am 36 weeks pregnant, and lately I have been getting these sudden muscle spasms in my upper leg near my bikini line area. I will just be sitting or standing, not moving at all, and they just hit me. It almost makes me drop to the floor. They hurt really bad. It doesnt sound like a pregnancy symptom, but it has never happened before I was pregnant. Has anyone experienced this, or heard of this. With everything that comes with being pregnant, I wouldnt doubt it to just be another symptom...
1040373 tn?1273687488 Could be muscle pain. Lately I've had problems with muscle twitches when I go to sleep - painless but annoying - and a few times I've woken in the morning with the muscles still twitching, so I guess they go all night. Always the same areas (although the twitches move around the muscle a bit) - left hamstring and left foot, and right foot. Some nights and mornings I wake with a sharp ache in these muscles - not quite a cramp, but almost on the edge of one.
Avatar n tn Anyone ever have muscle spasms that caused severe pain in their leg when bending at the knee (such as kneeling, getting in and out of a car, etc.) or in the groin area? Baclofen isn't working for me - so I'm just wondering if I'm nuts. This has been going on for a month now and the pain is wearing me down.
Avatar f tn So My Leg Has Started Locking Up In My Sleep. Like I Will Wake Up In So Much Pain Because My Leg Is Completely Tense And My Foot Is Completely Locked InAn Overly Extended position And I Can't MoveIt. IM Currently 36 Weeks And This Is Making Even Getting Out Of Bed Difficult Because Any Use Of My Legs Will Start it. I've Never Felt Pain Like That Before, Like It Is Worse Then When I Broke My Legs And Idk If It's Due To Some Sort Of Vitamin Deficiencies Or What.
Avatar f tn I'm a 22 year old female. When I was around 12 I started getting leg spasms. But they didn't seem normal. They were crippling. They were probably the most painful thing I'd ever experienced. To the point of wanting to scream. The muscle spasms were visible and to be honest, my muscles were going so crazy, it looked like a bag of worm wriggling around inside my calf. It happens less frequently now, but more painful.
Avatar n tn i have muscle spasms severly in my right hand and leg and right side of my neck and my right hip. i would like to know what this might be ?
Avatar f tn Hi, I too have muscle spasms. Severe! My Pain management Doc put me on Zanaflex 4mg. One usually does it and 2 knocks you out! Try 2mg first. Pretty strong. Have tried flexeril but not strong enough. This is a controlled substance so you have to have a hand delivered script to get it which is a pain (no pun intended, lol) but it is worth it. I only use it when I have too. Won't stop the reason but will help the symptom.
1453990 tn?1329231426 OK, I have the "tight calf" clonus thing that drops my feet down sometimes, but I have a new one for me. Anybody else experience pain from clonus (tightening) of the abductor digiti minimi muscle on the outside (lateral) bottom of the foot? Both of my feet are hurting right now. One of my weird foot pains. It's kind of causing my 4th and 5th toes to curl down and inward and cramping my feet. Just started in the last day or so.
Avatar f tn I also have severe neuropathy in my left foot my leg is very sensitive to touch to pants legs washing my leg putting shoes and socks on and get these shooting strong pain. I am taking lyrics and pain meds and also muscle relaxer and it doesn't seem to help. I have to be careful how I move or I would get a muscle spasms.
Avatar f tn Hello~It sounds like you are having muscle spasms, and your hip and lower back could be the cause. I recommend seeing a chiropractor, he/she will take an x-ray of the area and be able to tell you what is going on. After a few adjustments and some stretching exercises, you should start to feel a lot better.
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor, just a parent of a type-1 teenager, but I do know that muscle spasms are typical of low-blood-sugar seizures. It sounds like he is having seizures, just not severe enough to lose consciousness. You say he has been low consistently, but don't mention if he also swings high. If he is running more consistently low, he needs to talk to his endocrinologist as soon as possible to see about reducing his amounts of insulin, or tinkering with his schedule of shots.
