Atherosclerosis is the more common cause, and is usually seen in patients with predisposing conditions such as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol or diabetes. I suggest you have all of these parameters checked. Regards and God bless.
He thinks this is due to extra use, however, the only thing different than usual exercise is kayaking, which takes upper body muscles. Is there a relationship to leg pain or fatigue and diabetes or high blood pressure? Is this something I should encourage him to discuss with his doctor? Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
My 3 1/2 yr old grandson has high blood pressure (180/120 when not on amlodipine), abdominal pain usually radiating from the umbilicus, extremity (usually leg) numbness to the point of occasional collapse, loss of appetite, weight loss, sometimes naussea and/or diarrhea. He has also had episodes of temporary blindness. This all began to manifest this summer (1 month after he turned 3 yrs. old). Prior to that he seemed to be a bright healthy happy child.
The various causes of leg pain are atherosclerosis, deep vein thrombosis - leg pain on walking (A blood clot in a deep vein), Leriche syndrome (block in abdominal aorta and/or main leg artery), limb ischaemia (low oxygen to limbs), sciatica, spondylitis of lower vertebrae and peripheral vascular disease (arteries of limbs are involved). Your doctor did the right thing in doing Doppler tests. This, rules out the possibility of involvement of an artery or vein.
Has anyone any experience with developing widespead multiple chemical sensitivity and allergic reactions to all kinds of foods and unknown allergens involving swelling of the tongue and respiratory distress following a medication for high blood pressure? This is a senior citizen who is in otherwise very good health but is losing so much weight because she cannot eat anything and this is baffling doctors.
After a painfull surgery, I start having a very weird arrhytmia problem as well as high blood pressure. It was 8 months ago. Before that surgery, I always had a normal blood pressure with fast pulse rate because of the anxiety. Since the last 8 months, I start experiencing strange heart pulse rate (mostly low pulse rate when I get anxious, insistead of the high pulse rate that I had before).
I do have good blood work always, no high blood pressure etc. My job consists of sitting all day in office chair (I am self employed but barely surviving). A little bit higher than my right knee, where the chair padding ends, there is a spot, that always hurt. Especially if I am moving. The pain never goes away, it is with me 24/7, nothing makes it better. I can rate it on a scale from 1-10, it would be a 3-4, but it never fades and I am not sure what it is.

what could cause swollen lymph nodes, high blood pressure, fatigue, malaise, left leg and arm weakness, chest pain, paresthesias in an 18yr old male?
I dunno if it was my boot rubbing against my leg or if it was my blood pressure at the time. Well after the mall we went to burger kind and I ate a considerably amount of food. 3 rodeo burgers, apple pie ,hot choclate, 4 cookies, and a soda. well after we got to his place we smoked more weed. thenn after that I left and went to walmart. I took my blood pressure at the machine as soon as I got done walking to it. it read 167 over 85 or somthing but I was scared it was that high.

for example - high blood pressure, problems with edema (leg swelling), and heart failure...to name a few. The bottomline: excessive salt intake and even "normal" salt in take in a person with heart failure or leg swelling can increase the leg swelling. With regard to your back surgery, do you have any residual symptoms after the surgery: such as weakness, numbness and tingling, "electric shocks" down you legs into your toes?

tall, but not morbidly obese, I am 37 yrs. old female. recently developed chest pain, doctor beleives it is from high blood pressure meds which is 50 mg atenolol. Doctor did not even have me come in to evaluate chest pain just said he would change me to a new bp med if I wanted but the one I am on decreases likely-hood of stroke and he wanted me to stay on it. Now I have been over the last couple of years been feeling as though something just isn't right.
I have a similar problem. I have numbness, tingling sensation on my right leg and pain. I also have some pain on my abdominal area (tenderness) that radiates to my lower back (worse during my period). Sometimes the pain is even on my rectum. I had several scans and they can't find anything. They rule out ovaries, apendix, IBS, and gastro-intenstinal problems. I am so frustrated because the pain is constant on my right leg and my abdomen.
5 years ago although i get more pins and needles in the three end toes and most specifically in the second to last toe. I take medication for an underactive thyroid, diabetes, chronic depression and high blood pressure, I also take lipidil, apirin and folic acid as well as methotrexate for psoriasis.
I collapsed the next morning with right leg pain/burning, numbness, and chest pain. While in the hospital they did an MRI and MRA. The MRA came back normal but they found a 1cm venous angioma in the left basal ganglia. The neurologist told me to not worry about the venous angioma and prescribed me extra strength Vicodin for pain, told me to "not get hooked on them" and to keep a migraine journal.
going on 3 the pain in my right leg is almost gone but now im feeling the pain to start in my left leg also when im driving the pain flares up in right leg or when i bend over the pain in my back is bad and feels like all my leg muscles are being pulled i guess i just want to know if this is normal with a bulging disc
However, I would recommend that you speak with your doctor about how you are feeling. Sometimes swelling can be a symptom of high blood pressure which your doctor would want to be aware of.
BTW, I forgot add that have had chest pain before, but it rarely happens. I have had EKG's and full blood work done a few times in the past 6-12 months because of that. No heart issues found and blood work was pretty good they said. I've been diagnosed with Costochondritis -- which is a condition where cartilage in the rib cage become inflamed and causes chest pain. This rarely happens for me since I have lost weight also. This is the best I've ever felt in my life.

Since you are having the leg pain and pain in the back of your head along with the higher readings, I would say not to wait too long to get in. The high bottom number reading has me a little concerned. In the past, doctors did not pay much attention to the diastolic number, but now, they are discovering that having it high can be just as significant as the high systolic reading. In the meantime, try not to worry too much as stress can cause the higher diastolic readings.
