Common Questions and Answers about Leg and foot cramps vitamin deficiency

foot

I get pretty bad cramping and spacticity in my rt leg and foot. It sometimes gets so bad that I can't lift my rt leg or push it forward to walk. Thankfully this hasn't ever lasted more than a day at a time for me. My rt calf constantly feels like it's going to Charlie horse cramp. Nothing helps it. I also have weird, random twitches and jerks in legs, feet, hands, arms, even torso and neck. Once in the ER, a few months ago, and twice by different pcps, I was noted to have rt side weakness.
Thirst I have had for a long time now, a pretty much unquenchable thirst. I am always thirsty.
There is no underlying cause except for vitamin D deficiency and an escalation from that into poorer and poorer health symptoms. Vitamin D deficiency is said to cause rickets in children and cancer in adults, and it also has been linked to compromising the immune system.
There is a foot disorder called - something like (senior moment here) - plantar facitis that causes ones foot to cramp directly upon arising and putting weight on the foot. Is it just one foot?/leg? Does it go away a few moments after you force yourself to walk on it? If yes to those questions, google foot problems and do a search, check your symptoms against those online. I did many years ago and did in fact have this problem. Was treated by a foot specialist and eventually the issue resolved.
Hi- I also have a vitamin d deficiency (less than 7) and I take 50,000 IU of vitamin d twice a week. I also have a B12 deficiency and take shots twice a week. I too have muscle twitching and numbness and tingling in my hands and feet. I am going to see a Neurologist because my doctor told me that b12 deficiency can cause nerve problems. I am not sure if vitamin d can cause nerve problems as well as the b12.
There may be other reasons for your leg cramps. I have heard that some people take Vitamin E for leg cramps. But be careful not to take too much.
after giving up processed foods I began to get truly horrible leg/foot cramps that became 24 hour constant cramp in my shins as well as constantly burning feet. Hyland's homeopathy for leg cramps helped for a while but then quit helping.
Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin), Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) " ======================= I'm just using these as examples, but I wonder if it makes sense while one has a specific issue, to see if you can get many of the recommended levels where they need to be via diet or supplementation. I am going to start looking into these types of tests.....
Many mornings I wake up by cramps in a foot or a lower leg. What can I do to prevent this to happen? Any supplements to consider? Thanks for your answer.
Lack of vitamin D can cause muscle spasms and cramps in your hands and feet. If she experience cramps while dehydrated, especially after exercising, there is a good chance that is what is triggering the muscle contractions. In these cases, correcting the deficiency will stop the cramps from coming back after you stretch out the muscles. Unfortunately if it isn't something simple, it could be a symptom of a major disease. These diseases include kidney failure, hypothyroidism and tetany.
then I went to another doctor to get a second opinion and they took blood and said that I have a Vitamin D deficiency and I should took take calcium 1~2 times a day. Can a Vitamin D deficiency cause my muscles to twitch and pop and cause fatigue? I've never had a vitamin deficiency before.
It would be under my right foot, always in the same area, then in a different area for a while, and now sometimes in my ankle too. It's not getting worse, it just comes and goes on a regular basis. I had a slipped disc in the past, so sciatica may be a possibility, although this feels very different (does not seem to be related to time of day, or position of my back, and not pain involved).
I feel a bit better and I don't know if it's the Cytomel, the D, or placebo! Also, I started having foot cramps. Did you get this too? Is it normal? Please paste the link below and let me know what you think. Good luck and let us know your test results. Lori http://www.uvadvantage.
sciatica has been the previous culprit causing pain in back and thigh and leg cramps. This could be pinched nerve in the leg or foot. treatment would include holding the foot slowly in position where the cramp disappears, NSAIDs to relieve the cramp, foot elevation to waist level, soak in warm water, moist heat, wrap in elastic bandage, bed rest to hasten healing, and a orthopaedician consultation followed by a neurologist’s office visit. Hope this helps. Take care.
When you compare it to an apple, it has 4 times the protein, twice the carbohydrates, 3 times the phosphorus, 5 times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium, and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!
I went to my doctor and he tested me for vitamin D and B12 deficiency. I came back with a Vitamin D deficiency but he said it wasn't bad enough for a shot. I knew I wouldn't have problems with B12 since I was taking a B vitamin complex with iron and vitamin C I got from Sprout's. I took the vitamin D for a month or a month and a half. All my symptoms went away. I got over confident and weaned myself off of it since I was getting enough sunlight and eating more diary.
Other time like when I seat from inside e ankle to my whole foot will burn/tingle. It's almost like the pressure on the back of my leg causes this. Also, sometimes if you run your hand from the top of my leg to the ankle you can feel,it go from warm to very cld at the ankle. This has been gradually getting worse over the past 8 years and I have seen a ton of doctors. General doc, nuralagist, chiro, podiatrist, homeopathy, acupuncture, pulmutalagist,.

I am now 52, and my syptoms were the same until I started on Lyrica a couple of years ago. That was when the leg, foot and lower back cramps went into overdrive. As stated above by another poster, they were as intense as labor pains, usually waking me from a dead sleep, screaming and falling to the floor. However, something no one has addressed is the horrible swelling, and how the cramps cause bed-wetting, and urinary incontinence... at least they did with me.
I feel like I'm losing my mind--the reason I'm typing this is to keep my mind off the pain after a sudden attack of leg and foot cramps tonight. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, but this is ridiculous. Now that I've gotten all that of my chest, I just want to thank everyone for their comments. My PCP offers no help, just sends me to a pain specialist, and that is worse than no answer at all.
Writing too long would seize my hand up. And even the slightest movement of my foot would send my leg into the most severe of cramps. When my calves cramp up it looks as though there is water boiling under my skin. It bubbles, pops, ripples, and spasms in an utterly painful and disturbing display. I had bloodwork done which revealed everything was normal and I was sent to a neurologist. My neurologist preformed an EMG and NCS, which came back normal.
They are mainly in my left leg/foot, from the bottom of my foot up through my entire my leg and sometimes up even into lower back/ up into my trunk and sometimes even into my chin, but mainly in the left foot/leg into lower back, and occasionally on the right side. I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which I began taking 50 mcg of Levothyroxine for on 1/20/09.
I also have that annoying warm sensation that is in my right leg and it moves from my ankle and up about 4inches and seems to be very frequent. I too thought it was a little heater under the seat of my car that was warming my leg-but the heat was not on. Also, the balls of my feet are burning along with this sensation. I need to know what this is?
Unfortunately, you'll need a blood test which if you prep your child properly, will only hurt for about 10 seconds when they draw the blood sample. They can run an iron and TIBC, serum ferritin test and other vitamin test for deficiency. But according to several pediatrician's I've spoken to, it's totally natural for kids to be low on iron because their bodies use up so much.
I was in a T-bone accident which caused a lot of nerve and mussle damage to my left leg and back about 3 mnths ago. I developed a rash on my leg all around shortly after also still hot to touch. Is this from the nerve damage because I am now getting another rash behind my left arm. It is not painful to touch but I did have abdominal pain, heart racing, headache. My physio therapist thought it may be shingles???

We are just thankfull that he can sleep and get rest at night as this is very tiring during daytime. These spasms and cramps are absolutely involuntary. Sometime it looks like his toes are playing piano and the muscle at the bottom of his foot is stone hard. How can we find out what the cause is and how can we maybe get in touch with someone who has the same symptons.
