Avatar n tn I have had a blood sugar test and gave a reading of 6.1 about 1 hour after a breakfast (Weetabix, Milk, Orange Juice). I have to go back and have repeat test but after having nothing to eat approx 9 hours beforehand....will this give an increased or decreased reading.
Avatar n tn I hope you can get a blood sugar meter to monitor your blood sugar. if you use the meter then you will find out which foods raise your blood sugar and which don't, and then you can adjust your diet accordingly. hope this is helpful for you. Please do ask any further questions you have.
Avatar m tn You may wish to get a home blood sugar meter and monitor after carby meals from time to time to be sure your numbers are not too high / rising over time. pre and post eating numbers are ideally similar if one is non-diabetic. Numbers consistently higher than 125 would be cause for further investigation / and changing diet / consideration of meds. Please come back and let us know your hba1c numbers, and how you are going.

Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
Avatar m tn I exercised for 12 minutes achieving a peak hear rate of 174 beats per minute and a peak blood pressure of 190/90mm Hg. There was no ECG changes of ischaemia and there was no arrhythmias. Resting heart rate of 90 beats per minute and blood pressure of 150/80mm Hg. The heart sounds were normal without any murmurs and the chest was clear. Taking 150mcg levothyroxine, TSH 0.17, T4 - 18.9, T3 - 5.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
Avatar f tn Hello, your A1C of 7.3 in December (or 6.3) latest are still above normal, considering that persons without diabetes will test at < 5.0. Great that you are using lifestyle measures to help. If you are overweight, reaching optimal weight will have a big benefit. Keep up your efforts on the diet. A low carb diet (avoid grains, fruits, sweets) and focus on low carb veges and proteins and healthy fats will be very beneficial.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Tbd Hi. So, a glucose meter using a finger tip prick or a continuous glucose monitor is best for checking blood sugar. Of course, that's after you are diagnosed with diabetes. Prior to that, blood work ordered by your doctor will reveal your sugar levels. https://diabetes.
Avatar n tn Hi, Can I ask what insulins you take? Are you on pump or MDI (multiple daily injections). Is your basal insulin taken once or twice a day. If you are going low from exercise, you may need to decrease your basal (this is easier if you are on a pump). Alternatively you may plan your exercise after eating and inject slightly less than usual insulin for the meal, as the exercise will naturally bring your blood sugars down.
180395 tn?1287493997 Once before breakfast and once before lunch. So I decided to buy a glucose monitor to check to see if maybe low blood sugar was the culprit. Well this morning before I bought it I came to work, had 2 donuts for breakfast (this isnt an everyday thing, someone just decided to be nice and bring some to work this morning) then I had 2 cups of coffee with creamer that contains sugar and on the way to work this morning I had a large cup of sweet tea.
Avatar m tn Cutting back on sugar and processed simple carbs (those that break down quickly and spike the blood sugar levels) can go a long way toward cutting inflammation in the body. Check out low glycemic diet. As for the cholesterol and triglyceride levels, we know that hypothyroid can cause high cholesterol, but that's not the only thing. You might try red yeast rice. That and regular exercise helps keep my cholesterol levels in check.

Avatar m tn as to liver damage you need a fibroscan to know how your liver is, if fibroscan values are ok you can monitor every year if elevated you can monitor every 6 months together with ultrasound for liver cancer prevention as long as you eat organic fresh food, lots of vegetables, very little meat and fat from dairies this will help keep the liver damage in balance with regeneration.
