Avatar n tn Had a lateral release (-10 to +80), partial medial meniscectomy and shaved cartilage on my knee 2 weeks ago. Saw physician 1 week after surgery He exasperated swelling at lateral release incision with no luck in reducing the swelling, he said to keep compress on it most of the time.
Avatar n tn The doctor did say there was a 2mm shift in bone placement on the lateral but no tears of the meniscus. I am feeling better. Swelling within the joint area is evident. Slow recovery. I am still elevating and bearing no weight on it. Hopefully, within a week or so, I will be able to walk without the use of the crutches. I am an avid runner and I am anxious to return to doing the things I love to do. I know, I will take it one day at a time.
Avatar n tn I had a bad fall about a year ago where I landed full force onto my knee which resulted in swelling and bruising that went from my knee down to my foot. I had pain on certain movements from then on. When I would get up sometimes my knee felt like it gave out. Also since then I have not been able to kneel down without pain in the kneecap.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had R knee arthroscopy approx 4wks ago and am still having significant pain and swelling. Pain & swelling seem to be mainly on medial aspect of knee from quads/vastus medialis through to medial and anterior calf/shin. Significant swelling just above medial joint line to back of knee. I have a copy of my surgeons letter to gp and it says I have significant changes to patellofemoral joint, grade iv changes to the the trochlea & grade ii changes to the the patella.
Avatar n tn When I bend the knee beyond 90 degrees I have a sharp pain on the lateral side of the knee cap. I have tried to be positive, but I don't see things getting better. It is very frustrating since I too thought things would be better than when I went in for the partials. It is like I have a tourniquet wrapped around my leg just below my knee. I ice every night and even heat pack for relief. I have tried five different PT's with not one knowing finding the answer.
Avatar f tn i can not walk arond a store without the foot and ankle and knee swelling so bad. cant do stairs, bend knee, get on the knee, or evan keep it srait for long periods of time. i want to know if this is normal? i seen my ortho surgeon who did the surgery on april 30 2009 and he now says he does not know whats wrong. i asked for a second opion and he said i could not have one. what should i do? and how do i get this fix so im not disabled all my life for im only 29 right now.......
Avatar n tn The medial was much more damaged than the lateral. Surgery seemed to go well. No pain at all. After some weeks with therapy the knee still feels unstable laterally. Front to back movement was very good, Pain developed on medial side of knee and the patella tendon when walking. When I move the knee or walk I can feel it 'clicking" and 'shooting" pain from the patella tendon The Doctor says that there is still some swelling in the knee.
Avatar m tn I have been having right knee pain and swelling for the past 6 weeks. I had an MRI which shows: 1) Posterior lateral tibial plateau grade 4 chondral fissures 2) Grade 3 chondral fissure at the lateral patellar facet 3) Mild patellar tendinosis 4) Borderline patella Alta configuration 5) Tibia tubercle-trochlear groove distance 1.9 cm 6) Trace superolateral Hoffa!s fat pad edema.
Avatar m tn The examination is preformed on the open .3 tesla magnet with sagittal, axial and coronal sequences obtained. Findings: There is no significant increase in joint fluid. The quadriceps tendon and patellar tendon are intact. The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact. The medal and lateral collateral ligament are intact. There continues to be signal in the femoral attachment of the medial collateral ligament consistent with previous injury.

There is some degeneration involving the lateral meniscus but no discrete tear is identified. The medial meniscus is intact. The bone marrow signal is normal.
Avatar n tn Ever since then, I have had a bad, achy pain in the right side of my knee on the joint line, especially when standing and I pick my foot up. The worst pain is when I rotate my toes outward with my knee bent. It occasionally hurts when decelerating, and definitely when going down stairs. I got an MRI today and am waiting the results, but does this sound like a tear? I know it's not large since the knee hasn't locked, but I do feel a small pop on that side of my knee when I straighten it.
4671444 tn?1357794171 felt like I had no control weak knee then it pop not once put three times omg did it hurt, swelling, stayed off it but came back. I had a torn tendon 4 yrs ago so today I got a MRI hoping that will explain.
Avatar m tn Hello there! I had a lateral meniscus tear which I had arthiscopic knee surgery on 2 years ago. The Dr told me that I had developed arthritis in it. Even after a few years later I have pain and I'm meloxicam 15mg once a day. My questions are: will it help to wear a brace on that knee? If so what kind should I wear? Regular, hinged, unloader or another kind? There are so many models available. The clinic I went to gave me a hinged knee brace by futuro.
Avatar n tn Pain and swelling and clicking in right knee for more than a year. PT no help. In Feb 2012, twisted bad knee and tore menicus through and through.
Avatar f tn I fell off a semi-truck at work. I now have chronic pain. There is not a day that goes by I have no pain or swelling some days are worse than others. I was told that my pain from surgery will be no longer than 6 months and now it is 2 and a half years. Is this normal after this kind of surgery? Did I do something wrong in my healing and rehab?
Avatar f tn Hi my name is Ursula, I am 17 years old and when I was younger I had fallen off of a pyramid in cheerleading, as I got older I had consent intense pain in my right knee. Finally in October the doctor offered a Lateral Release as solution to my knee cap creating a new groove in my bone. The day after the surgery I was already feeling relief from the 10 years of constant pain. I am 2 months post- op and moving around better than I ever have.
Avatar m tn Pain, swelling, popping sound in the knee could be due to arthritis, as it is the most common cause of pain in the knee after recurrent injuries to the knee. Burning, tingling and radiation of the pain to the hip and ankle relates to compression of nerve. I would suggest that you visit a orthopedician and get x-ray and MRI of the knee to confirm with the diagnosis. All the best.
Avatar f tn The MCL is intact. LATERAL COMPARTMENT: Allowing for motion artifact, there is fraying to the lateral meniscal posterior horn free edge, and the posterior root is diminutive. Superficial chondral fibrillation is present at the posterior meniscal surface of the tibial plateau without subchondral remodeling. Intact lateral collateral ligament complex and structures of the posterolateral corner. INTERCONDYLAR NOTCH: The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact.
Avatar m tn Pain is very specific in location, center of joint on the lateral side and slightly behind from that location. Pain is not constant and started a few years ago as slightly aggravating but now (still not constant) when it comes on it is severe/sharp. No range of motion, swelling or bruising/discoloration issues. Running forward aggravates it, but running side-step does not (except when I plant hard on my right foot to begin side-stepping left).
Avatar n tn continues to give way upon apply full-weight. In lots of pain; no swelling (usually never exhibit) however, bearable. Any suggestions?
510679 tn?1265668267 I am 5 months out of having arthroscopic knee surgery for fixing a torn meniscus, while OS was in there he did a lateral release, said my kneecap was offtrack, and removed some bone fragments, cleaned arthritis from around the knee area. I am still having chronic pain and swelling, and cant do alot af activities like bending, squatting, climbing stairs or going down them. Walking is ook for a little while then pain.
Avatar m tn On September 27th/17 i had a lateral release on my right knee, during surgery if was found that i had deep fissue behind my patella, had a torn meniscus, and needed the removal of a thick pilca. i have had a slow recovery and have had consistent pain, snapping, popping, crunching, grinding..ect.
Avatar m tn There is bearable pain alongwith little burning sensation in this area. There is no swelling. When calf muscles are sqeezed, foot passively reacts downwards. Episode began possibly after foot twisted while walking. X-ray of right heel (axial/lateral) done. Report reads amongst other things as- The lower end of the tibia and fibula otherwise are normal, but there is a bony projection from the posterior part of the tibia. Please guide/advice.
Avatar m tn I was recently playing volleyball about 2 weeks ago and i was diving for a ball hitting the same part of my knee on the ground (lateral side of knee). Ever since the 3rd time hitting it on the ground i noticed swelling in the spot and a little bit of pain, then 2 weeks later i am playing again and still landing on the same part of my knee, instantly after my knee feels stiff and very painful to move and walk.
