6218685 tn?1379633270 I was misdiagnosed as having pressure in my eyes and was given Latanoprost eye drops which I used for 5 days and my intuition told me to stop it and get a second and third opinion which I did. I then found out I did not need to be on Latanoprost and my eye pressure was normal. I am only 45 and never had a problem with dark circles under my eyes which developed two days after I started using the eye drops.

Avatar n tn There are over 20 companies that make latanoprost. Studys have shown that some are underfilled and some produce drops that are so large that the bottle will not last the expected 6 weeks.
Avatar m tn My doctor is aware that I have glaucoma in both eye for which I continue to use Latanaprost Ophtalmic Solutioneye drops. I put the drops on each eye before I go to bed as I always did before. I have been waiting about 5 minutes and then put eye drops in my eyes before I go to bed. May I have some feedback as to what I need to do?...
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes and prescribed eye drops to take 3x daily for the rest of my life. These eye drops are 1) Latanoprost and 2) Dorzolamide/timolol. A few weeks after taking these eye drops I notice a large rise in blood pressure (top and bottom numbers)..with my bottom number around 100. Can this be caused by the eye drop medicine?
Avatar f tn Diagnosised as open-angle glaucoma. I use latanoprost drops which successfully control the pressure. (Last measured at 13 to 14) My opthalmologist has said that lens replacement may alleviate the pressure. I would not need to use the eye drops afterwards. What is your opionion? Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn It is preservative free equivalent of latanoprost. Almost no one is allergic to latanoprost. moreover since the dose is one drop per eye per day very few people have any problem with allergy. So I use very little zioptan in my practice due to cost problems.
Avatar f tn They said that my cornea is really thick and my optic nerves are oddly shaped, but there is nothing to worry about at this time. I was prescribed latanoprost which I took and my eye pressure had decreased as it should at my follow up visit in January. Since then, I have undergone some heart testing due to having palpitations and I ended up going off of the latanoprost, with permission from my doctor. I haven't noticed a large difference in my eyes until recently.
514349 tn?1272801633 Lately I've had very hard and difficult to pass stools. My diet and activity level haven't had any major changes or has my medications except that I am now using Latanoprost eye drops once a day. I tried using Docusate and Smooth Move senna tea for relief, but they didn't make any difference.
Avatar m tn For the cataract surgery, it is every 2 hours!!! Eye drops, eye drops and more eye drops. Then more eye drops for the dry eye that the other drops cause. On and on. No end.
Avatar f tn If you are not on latanoprost or Lumigan or Travatan Z they would be good alternatives also your eye doctor should have discussed glaucoma laser therapy. sometimes laser can be used and you don't need any eye drops. Please act on this.
Avatar m tn Hi l have been taking Azarga eye drops ( Timolol and Brinzolamide0 for 8 years twice a day with not much side effects except some dry eye, but recently it stopped being as effective in lowering the pressure so my eye specialist also put me on Travatan also ( Travoprost ) so l am now taking azarga twice a day and travatan one a day, the additional travatan has been successful in lowering my presssure but taking all these drops making my eyes more dry and slightly sore.
Avatar n tn He messages my IOP down to 30 to make sure implant is working and puts beta blocker drops in eye. Come back from lunch with pressure chef at 34. Come back in 2 weeks. Now on blue cap drops 2x/pd, beta blocker 2x/pd, and Latanoprost before bed time. Worried and not sure how to take this????????
Avatar m tn At first with only one eye I had about 15,000 per day, now with drops in both eyes they have gone up to almost 30,000 per day. There where no other medication changes during that time. I don't think that the active ingredients cause the problem, but what about the Benzalkonium Chloride (BAK) that is the preservative in the drops, could that cause the problem? has there been any research done on this?
17644146 tn?1458782868 Moreover recent studies done on latanoprost the most common used generic glaucoma drops in the world, manufactured by over 25 companies found some where underfilled, some dispensed drops too large so that the medication would not last the theoretical length of time. i.e. instead of lasting 6 weeks it would only last 5 even if none were spilled or wasted.
Avatar f tn There should be significant visual recovery after a week and by one month it should be pretty well healed. My doctors do not like to use latanoprost after cataract surgery because it may increase the incidence of CME (macular edema). Dr. O.
Avatar m tn t good, my ophthalmologist told me I may have to add another eye drop (I take latanoprost and dorzolamide+timolol now) or try SLT. IOP readings the last few years of 18 or less. However since my right eye glaucoma may have been due to an eye trauma from 40 years ago might that reduce the chance of SLT success?
Avatar m tn He said l should consider Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) He said it should lower my eye pressure more then eye drops which will help save my vision better long term and l may not have to take drops any more and worry about dry eyes. He said its totally safe and any permanent side effect or harm to the eyes are almost unheard of. l think l read the laser Strength in SLT is not powerful enough to harm the eye so theres no risk, is that correct?
Avatar n tn The retinal specialist gave 2 very strong drops to reduce the IOP. Subsequent to using the drops he went for a check for IOP and it was 15. Three weeks after continuously using the drops on his next checkup the IOP was back at 27. The retinal specialist seemed to be a loss. He is now recommending a glaucoma specialist. We are not sure what to do.
Avatar n tn My father has vision in the left eye though alittle unclear. He asked the doctor whether we can make that one eye vision strong enough so that reading and driving is possible. The doctor suggest there is no treatment for this. Is this true? Please suggest.
Avatar f tn I'm not familiar with that degree. If you have access to a second "eye doctor" you might consider a second opinion. You might also not use the drops for one day or two see if they seem normal then resume.
1436598 tn?1332896533 Now, due to emergency surgery (see cataract thread) she is back on the drops. She is also on dorzolamide drops and latanoprost drops which neither the regular vet or the ophthalmologist thinks could cause this. I don't think it is a sudden worsening of the spay incontinence because of the drinking. Also, she is not leaking, when she goes it's a flood. Either when I don't let her out quite often enough or when she is deeply asleep. Any brilliant ideas?
Avatar m tn Hi l l am 46 years old l have glaucoma and been on eye drops ten years, although some serve damage my central and Peripheral vision is still very good according to my eye doctor. Last few months l noticed when l am outdoors if l cover each eye with my hand on look in the distance l noticed the vision in my left eye is not as good or as sharp as my right eye.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Alphagen P for open angle glaucoma that in left eye that also has a cateract which is part of the problem and I have been put on a waiting list for cataract surgery. I havent used the drops yet. I did some more research on Alphagen P and cant find answers. Im hoping you can help. I have been taking Citicholine, Pine Bark, Ginko Biloba to increase blood flow to my optic nerve and lower eye pressure which they have.
Avatar m tn Lumigan is a glaucoma medication that is put directly on the eye. Latisse is the same medication, different packaging for eyelash growth and it is painted on the eyelashes with a brush. I suppose the study that was completed 12/31/09 for growing eyelashes was only done on upper lid eyelashes. Then that's all that the FDA will allow them to say.
Avatar m tn I generally offer one/drop day trial of latanoprost, lumigan or Travatan-Z or SLT. If patient chooses drops and one drop once per day I strongly recommend SLT before adding a second or third drop. The biggest change in glaucoma over the coming years will be putting MIGS device in eye at time of surgery (small drainage valve MIGS = minimally invasive glaucoma surgery) to try and eliminate need for any drops.
Avatar n tn OK, great! You've removed the doubt. I am a worrywart. She also said it was up to me whether to start latanoprost. My IOP was 19/21, which she said wasn't that high but the low nocturnal dips in my BP were concerning. And also the suspicious nerves. So I guess I ought to take the drops ...
Avatar m tn My suggestions would be to see a Eye MD specialzing in retina/vitreous for special tests of your eye to be sure there are no difficult to see retinal tears/detachments. Ask the retina MD about pilocarpine, I don't think they will feel you should be on it. Also if you have access to a Eye MD that specializes in glaucoma I would see one as soon as possible. You need a test called gonioscopy, and will need ongoing management of the pressure in your eye.
