Lasik laser eye surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Lasik laser eye surgery

laser

Avatar m tn For moderate astigmatism, a LASIK eye surgery has proven effective, and gives you freedom from wearing glasses or contact lenses. This surgery reshapes the inner layer of your cornea (shaped like a football for a person with astigmatism), to treat astigmatism.
Avatar m tn Both told me that my cornea was thin (500 rt eye, 480 lf eye). One location only did Laser vision correction and is a chain that does Lasik throughout the country. They said my cornea was border line but they would do the all laser Lasik (Intralase). The other location (does multiple facets of eye care) said that my cornea calls for Microkeratome to expose the inner cornea - then remove the 1st layer - perform the surgery and let it grow back.

Avatar f tn Hi, i'm thinking about having laser eye surgery and have been doung some reading up about it. Has anyone had complications with lasik and regret having it? and what is wavefront worth it?
13008581 tn?1432432810 In a word, nystagmus. So I would not be a candidate for laser eye surgery. As has ben said here, you need to find out exactly what is causing your problem. As to whether or not laser ssurgery is safe for people with MS, it seems to be. Just prior to being diagnosed I had laser eye surgery to tray and correct elevated intraoccular pressure. It ddidn't work, but it didn't cause any MS related problems either.
Avatar f tn Lasik or another type of laser surgery?
Avatar f tn a few years earlier, i had LASIK for near vision in my right eye and for far vision in my left, stronger eye. The right cataract surgery went well. the left eye was not clear like the right, immediately noticeable. i was not given the lens case afterwards for the left eye and wondered if it was possible the wrong scrip was used. how would i find out short of cutting open the incision and retreiving the lens? the dr. then used a laser he said would sharpen my vision some.
Avatar n tn My doctor said my insurance might not cover replacing the wrong lens he put in so he is looking at either doing lasik again or laser surgery to correct the nearsightedness. Is this a good procedure to do? My eye is still flickering also.
20849194 tn?1537445385 IMPORTANT: You are myopic (nearsighted) not farsighted (hyperopic). Lattice occurs 6-8% of population more in high myopes like you. (I have lattice). It may be stable or more can develop as you get older. No way to tell. Lattice DOES NOT GO AWAY. If you had it before you still have it. It is small sometimes and hard to see. LASIK does involve some risk of creating holes/tears and breaks in lattice. I would suggest you get a 3rd opinion from an Eye MD that specializes in Retina disease.
Avatar n tn I am now planning to undergo eye surgery. I have heard of many surgeries. Is it possible for me to undergo eye surgery with the power that I have now? Few doctors said it is not possible and few said it is possible. I have no idea on whom to trust and whom not to. In case if I undergo any surgery would it be possible to get the sight to normal? Which surgery/operation should I undergo?
Avatar m tn had cataract surgery 2 days ago on left eye due to vitrectomy done for macular hole last year, 2 hours after surgery Dr examed my eye & aske if i ever had lasik, I had lasik 15 years ago, she said she would have calculated lens differently for cataract, what does this mean, my eye kind of blurry, she mentioned possible exchanging lens or laser, my next appointment is in two weeks, can this be corrected, would my insurance pay,
Avatar f tn Now the Doctors in Bangalore are suggesting to go for Yaag laser, but I am very much scared to go for any laser treatment. I feel the LASIK treatment is the route cause for my eye problems. Please advise I am working on the coumputer for 8 hrs a day. I am reading a lot about the Programme for better vision by Cambride university - is it useful have anybody tried and found useful ?
Avatar n tn Dear Van366, From your description it is difficult to assess which eye is giving you farsightedness and which nearsightedness and which is causing you difficulty. PRK or LASIK are excimer laser procedures in which reshaping of the front surface of the eye, the cornea is done to reduce nearsightedness, farisghtedness and/or astigmatism. These can often help to reduce the prescription difference between the two eyes. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
20849194 tn?1537445385 Absolutely not! ICL is surgery INSIDE the eye thus risk of infection, bleeding, small risk loss of eye. Also ICL has been associated with cataract formation and cornea damage. LASIK is much safer. HOWEVER there is a new procedure that may be better than either one and it's called the SMILE procedure (Small intrastromal lenticule extraction). Find a surgeon that does that procedure and get a consult.
Avatar m tn However, my surgeon told me that he does not recommend a laser surgery. In his opinion, a laser surgery may hinder subsequent operations on the retina if need arises. Is this really the case? What is the latest research/experience in this respect? Thanks very much. Thanks very much.
Avatar n tn iam a 28 year old girl who had LASIK laser surgery over one year ago. My vision has been perfect for the last 8 months but for the last 3 to 4 months i have had progressive headaches/migraines. I have taken pain killers daily and also went to get my final eye examination following laser surgery. I expressed my concern but the outcome was of a positive nature, slight change since laser surgery but nothing to be concerned about. This was three weeks ago.
Avatar m tn LASIK surgery can cause what ophthalmologists call "Ocular Surface Disorder" but goes by name 'dry eye syndrome". two types more severe is 'aqueous deficiency' no tears, eye feels like sandpaper and often dry mouth. Other is 'lipid deficiency" and the eyes water because tears poor quality. LASIK can cause either, mainly in females as dry eye problems much more common in women mainly post menopausal but can occur in males and young women.
7560840 tn?1392007755 It is not likely that lasik would be able to correct all of your myopia. However depending on the thickness of your cornea and its radius of curvature and the length of your eyes a type surface laser (PRK) might reduce the numbers 6-7 diopters to -4 and -1.00 to 0.00 You would need to see an Eye MD ophthalmologist that specializes in corneal/refractive surgery.
Avatar f tn The surgical intervention is flapless and consists in removing a lenticular portion inside the cornea (in contrast to femto lasik and lasik that cut a flap and use the Excimer laser afterwards). The surgery can remove at most 10 spherical D and 5 cylindrical D of myopia, if the cornea permits. It also works for hyperopia.
Avatar f tn cataract/IOL, LASIK, laser, retina, etc. It is most likely that the floaters are incidental to your surgery whether being more aware of the vision and testing each eye or the new focal point of your eye without glasses. There is no treatment for floaters that is safe and effective. Most floaters either settle to the bottom of the eye out of the line of sight or the brain tunes them out (neuro-adaptation) or both.
Avatar m tn But he adviced me to go for barrage laser first. Now i dropped the eye of lasik too. Now i want to know whether i should go for barrage laser or it can be cure by medications. Kindly suggest me.
