Avatar m tn I have seen many specialists in regards to my snoring and sleep apnea (mild - did a sleep study 4 years ago, I am sure that my sleep apnea has worsen a bit). Some of the different specialists that I have seen are: ENT docs, Otolaryngologists, Internal Medicine/Respirologist, Dentist, and Sleep Disorder doctor. I have tried the CPAP for 2 years (hate it) and I am currently using the mouth-guard (where my jaw is moved forward).

I also had my adenoids out at that time too.
1132562 tn?1284508035 Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else is snoring worse after surgery? I was diagnosed years back with sleep apnea and couldn't use the c-pap.Tried all the different masks( they all hurt the head).Anyway tested last year again said it wasn't bad enough for c-pap. Now after surgery my husband gets up during the night and sleeps on the couch because of the snoring! I thought sleep apnea was supposed to get better after surgery! Any one else having this?
Avatar f tn surgery or over-the-counter approaches like the nose strips, etc - and honestly, anybody who tells you that their product can stop all snoring is lying to you. That's just not going to happen. You can reduce the snoring, sometimes by a lot. But if you breathe through your mouth, which is the cause of about 85% of non-apnea snoring according to the experts, you are probably going to snore.
Avatar f tn A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Cosmetic-Surgery/Snoring-and-sleepless-nights/show/2818993">Snoring and sleepless nights!</a> was started.
783663 tn?1236200728 Some common ways to try to help snoring are avoiding back sleeping and elevating the head of the bed, although these measures won't likely stop snoring in a person whose is "hard and loud'. There are oral devices and/or surgeries that sometimes help some - no guarantees and the success rates can be a deterrent. Snoring can cause frequent sleep stage disruptions that the sleeper is usually unaware of, and can result in the same symptoms as being sleep deprived.
Avatar m tn Folks I am considering laser surgery. I have astigmatism. Is it the right thing to do and also which method is best? Any suggestion is most welcomed.
Avatar f tn I did everything and even went to Laser Spine Institute for relief. I had surgery on my neck and lower back in July. I still have pain and have pain in my two fingers. My scapula is the main problem which is in right shoulder. Diagnos with a winging scapula. What can I do for treatment for winging scapula's??
Avatar n tn he will be able to reduce it to normal by laser. i would like to know how much could be the success chance in my case and does the laser have major side effects?
Avatar n tn I have had two episodes of bleeding behind the retina since having laser surgery for catarac removal with lens? and is it dangerous?
1539436 tn?1292869871 I got very excited about the idea but before i take a step, could you please advice me if my age is the ryt age to get a laser eye surgery, as my aunt warned me of my age to be very young. she advised me to be atleast 24+.
Avatar f tn No questins here. I just had Laser surgery yesterday, performed by Dr. Vosoghi. I have been in his care for approximately one month and could not be more impressed. Demeanor is professional, chairsidemanner so kind, highly educated and knowledgable, and I do not think I could be in beter hands. If you need a specialist, and you are within traveling distance of his offices, I highly recommend him.
1287461 tn?1312430577 I am sure I had moderate sleep apnea (and a bad snoring problem) before I had my surgery. I would wake up several times a night gasping for air and the snoring, according to my wife was otherworldly. Since my surgery I haven't snored or had any gasping for air episodes. I am interested to see if you have similar results. Please do keep us informed when you can : ).

Avatar f tn him to get him to take a breath. Anyway, that surgery was a God send for us. His snoring and sleep apnea completely disappeared. He seemed to turn into a totally different child. Before he had terrible dark circles under his little eyes, they disappeared. To this day he has not had any bad boughts with sickness and his little nose is no longer stuffy all the time. I highly recommend this surgery to anyone with a child with sleep apnea and terrible snoring.
Avatar m tn optholomogist have said the Laser surgery has worked and angles are no longer as narrow and pressure has dropped to 10..Does this sort of laser stop an Acute angle atack?.
431143 tn?1214479427 If your wife is having a severe snoring, a corrective surgery can also be considered depending on cause. I do understand how frustrating it will be for you if not your wife to have a normal sleep at night. If nothing works out for her, I would like to suggest you to get your wife evaluated by an ENT specialist. Take care.
Avatar n tn My question is, as I am so shortsighted, is it OK to have the Laser Cataract Surgery? I ask this because the Laser Cataract Surgery is said to be less traumatic to the eye. I wonder if Dr John C Hagan III could answer this question, as I know his son also works in his practice and he is a retinal expert? Also do you fit the New nanoflex IOL?
Avatar f tn The U-shaped tear is also called a Horshoe Tear. If retina doc is recommending laser (aka "barrier laser" to form a barrier of laser around the tear), then I'd do it. Sure, there are risks. Nothing is risk free, but the risk of not treating is much much higher than the risk of doing the procedure. Sincerely, Timothy D. McGarity, M.D.
10175753 tn?1408314528 Can a lens put in after cataract surgery be replaced if damaged during laser procedure?
Avatar n tn Time will tell if this is superior to current standard cataract surgery. The femtosecond laser is being used to make the cataract incision into the eye, the capsule opening in the lens (capsulorhexis), and to soften the cataract. Then the phaco/aspiration portion of the lens removal is the same as standard cataract surgery.
Avatar m tn My own snore wakes me up. It started only recently. As soon as I'm about to fall asleep, I hear my own snoring and then I wake up. I'm 40 years old, slim, I'm not sporting that much. I have always snored, but four weeks ago, my neurologist gave me Carbamazepina and then I started to wake up to my own snore. I told this to the doctor and he suspended the pill already a week ago.
Avatar n tn http://www.about-eyes.com/laser-assisted-cataract-surgery-and-risk-of-macular-swelling/ "Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery and Risk of Macular Swelling" His skepticism matches the reports I've seen of large scale studies over the last year or so indicating that laser cataract surgery so far merely has been shown to have different complications than non-laser surgery overall (which are rare in both types), and hasn't proven its benefits overall yet for most patients.
Avatar m tn I will be having cataract surgery and have a choice of with or with-out laser-assisted surgery. Am I likely to have a better outcome using the laser? It will cost more. Thanks!
Avatar m tn One week after laser surgery I started having arc or circle shaped flashes in treated eye. These were not present before surgery. It then increased in frequency for next 2-3 days and now the frequency started decreasing. Can someone explain this phenomenon? and how these flashes developed after surgery?
Avatar m tn What are the risks and advantages of laser coagulation prior to cataract surgery? Can I go for cataract surgery without laser coagulation?
Avatar m tn I have a dense cataract in one eye and I was told that laser-assisted surgery may be better to help "break" it down instead of traditional. I've seen mixed research between the two; however, are there any shown benefits of laser over traditional cataract surgery? As in is it worth to pay out of pocket for it?
