Avatar m tn Hi. Does anyone has recommendation on an endocrinologist in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada? Is anyone seeing any endo for their thyroid problems and was satisfied with the treatment? I am seeing my family doctor but he is thinking to refer me to endo. Please let me know I can ask my doctor based on your suggestion.
Avatar m tn In the past 3 years I have had 4 different dilated eye exams, including the OCT as part of my screening for cataract surgery and subsequent laser surgery. At one point I had so many exams that I asked the cataract surgeon if I need to do my annual eye exam for diabetic retinopathy as well and he said no. So, I am not really concerned that I currently have issues, unless they are caused by an excessive number of dilated eye exams.
Avatar f tn I live in Edmonton!!!

Avatar f tn No questins here. I just had Laser surgery yesterday, performed by Dr. Vosoghi. I have been in his care for approximately one month and could not be more impressed. Demeanor is professional, chairsidemanner so kind, highly educated and knowledgable, and I do not think I could be in beter hands. If you need a specialist, and you are within traveling distance of his offices, I highly recommend him.
Avatar m tn optholomogist have said the Laser surgery has worked and angles are no longer as narrow and pressure has dropped to 10..Does this sort of laser stop an Acute angle atack?.
Avatar n tn My question is, as I am so shortsighted, is it OK to have the Laser Cataract Surgery? I ask this because the Laser Cataract Surgery is said to be less traumatic to the eye. I wonder if Dr John C Hagan III could answer this question, as I know his son also works in his practice and he is a retinal expert? Also do you fit the New nanoflex IOL?
Avatar f tn The U-shaped tear is also called a Horshoe Tear. If retina doc is recommending laser (aka "barrier laser" to form a barrier of laser around the tear), then I'd do it. Sure, there are risks. Nothing is risk free, but the risk of not treating is much much higher than the risk of doing the procedure. Sincerely, Timothy D. McGarity, M.D.
10175753 tn?1408314528 Can a lens put in after cataract surgery be replaced if damaged during laser procedure?
Avatar n tn Time will tell if this is superior to current standard cataract surgery. The femtosecond laser is being used to make the cataract incision into the eye, the capsule opening in the lens (capsulorhexis), and to soften the cataract. Then the phaco/aspiration portion of the lens removal is the same as standard cataract surgery.
Avatar n tn http://www.about-eyes.com/laser-assisted-cataract-surgery-and-risk-of-macular-swelling/ "Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery and Risk of Macular Swelling" His skepticism matches the reports I've seen of large scale studies over the last year or so indicating that laser cataract surgery so far merely has been shown to have different complications than non-laser surgery overall (which are rare in both types), and hasn't proven its benefits overall yet for most patients.
Avatar m tn I will be having cataract surgery and have a choice of with or with-out laser-assisted surgery. Am I likely to have a better outcome using the laser? It will cost more. Thanks!
Avatar m tn One week after laser surgery I started having arc or circle shaped flashes in treated eye. These were not present before surgery. It then increased in frequency for next 2-3 days and now the frequency started decreasing. Can someone explain this phenomenon? and how these flashes developed after surgery?
Avatar m tn What are the risks and advantages of laser coagulation prior to cataract surgery? Can I go for cataract surgery without laser coagulation?
Avatar m tn I have a dense cataract in one eye and I was told that laser-assisted surgery may be better to help "break" it down instead of traditional. I've seen mixed research between the two; however, are there any shown benefits of laser over traditional cataract surgery? As in is it worth to pay out of pocket for it?
