Avatar n tn he will be able to reduce it to normal by laser. i would like to know how much could be the success chance in my case and does the laser have major side effects?
Avatar n tn Thanks Mr Oyakawa , You mean to say my chances of surgery being successful is 98 to 99% ? . but people say if i get the laser surgery done at age of 35 my eyes will start watering & will have problems in future , is it true ?? do you prefer wearing contact lenses or surgery ?? which contact lenses are best suited for me ??
Avatar m tn Hi! I'm 16 years old. I got minus 11 power in my both eyes. Can I undergo a laser surgery to reduce power before 21 years?? If not, then is there any alternative way?

Avatar m tn About six months ago (February and March, 2015) at age 80 I underwent cataract surgery on both eyes. About a month afterwards my doctor recommended that I undergo laser capsulotomy for posterior capsule opacification in both eyes. I have two questions related to this procedure, but, first, I wish to submit some background information on the cataract surgery and its results. After implantation of a "far-distance" IOL (toric) in the left eye, I agreed to use the monovision technique.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your comments about the laser and brown spots in my cheeks, but i have a question now, i've had the laser 3 times and my spots are getting darker is this normal?. after the procedure ( make for a certified doctor) my skin gets red and then dark for some days ( is like burned skin), and after 4 or 5 days this burned skin is gone but the brown spots still there but darkers. should i stop the laser treatment or keep going for more?. Thank you.
Avatar n tn An alternative would be laser ablation. In laser ablation, a high energy laser is used to remove the obstruction. Treatment and followup should be discussed with your urologist.
Avatar m tn Hi there, well when I was 8 months old I was diagonosed with catract in Lagos, Nigeria. So was operated for the same in London at the age of 8 months back in the year 1981. After the operation, I had to wear spectacles & it started with a very high number of +22 which has come down to +11.5 now over the years. I also have a lazy eye in my left eye at the momen & very less vison in the left eye.
Avatar f tn m extremely nervous about letting anyone do surgery on them again. What are the possible cons of having the laser surgery? I was told it could stop the damage but not repair damage already done. That sounds good. But what possible negative affect could the surgery do? I have known two people close to me that had these surgeries and truly didn't benefit from them that I could tell. I'm truly perplexed about it all. I have severe dry eye that is causing severe sensitivity to light.
Avatar f tn It came from having cataract surgery. It said I will have a laser surgery to correct it. He was brief and only said it was simple. That's also what I was told about my cataract surgery. I understand they are easy operations, but I would like more of an explanation of what will exactly be done. Is there pain? Will I be medicated? Will I wear and eye patch? During my cataract surgery I did feel some slight pinching and my eyes were a little sensitive the next few days.
Avatar n tn Hello, so I had a small tear in my left eye in 2015 so I ended up getting laser surgery in both eyes to seal the tear off (I got it on the right eye too, prevention purposes). I am short sighted so I wear glasses/contact lenses to see, but my eye prescriptions aren't that high. In October 2016 I went to my optometrist for a eye check up for new contacts, and my left eye went up by 0.25, while my right eye didn't.
Avatar f tn The risks you are taking include highly likely develop cataract that will need surgery within 2-3 years, infection, bleeding, retinal detachment, persistent floaters still there after surgery and loss of eye.
Avatar f tn It's not likely that surface laser will get rid of -10 myopia thus the glasses will be thinner but still needed. Whether he wants to take on these risks with only one eye is his to make. I would get a 2nd and 3rd opinion one from retina eye MD and a different cornea/refractive surgeon.
Avatar n tn 2006 Verisyse lens, and iridectomy. Current diagnose with cataract. 2006 unsuccessful laser floater surgery. Thick cornea. • My right eye is filled with multiple floaters, and the vitreous is extremely cloudy, weiss ring. Although if necessary with eye movement I can read an eye chart 20/20. Floaters do not bother me, but the cloudy vitreous makes simple functions, tv, pc, and reading challenging.
Avatar f tn Your son has exotropia NOR exophoria. Surgery at a younger age is probably better. Is your son seeing a pediatric ophthalmologist? Dr. O.
Avatar m tn my 18 months old son has a hairy nevus on his left thigh. When he was 8 months old , size of nevous was very small (around 3-4 cm dia) , but now it spread over his thigh (all around) and continuously growing in size. there are small hairs with skin slightly rough and dark. I've seen a dermetologist who suggested laser treatment , but i'm afraid at this age (he is only 18) i should go for it or not .
Avatar n tn Could be months may be years after the original surgery. Can easily be corrected with Laser surgery. My cataract surgery was a year ago, nothing yet - same age by the way.
Avatar n tn I am alone with no family and am so worried about my eyesight. I was told laser for the glaucoma is very risky as is catract surgery because of the speudoexfoliation. My vision is good now. 20/20 and 20/25 with glasses. I am not able to drive now at night because of the car lights and I just feel trapped. Any suggestions would be immensely appreciated.
Avatar n tn If the ophthalmologist has not done a macular OCT one should be done PRIOR to the yag laser to be sure your mother does not have swelling of the macula (cystoid macular edema) or age related macular degeneration. Approximately 15-20% of people having cataract surgery will eventually need the yag laser. Prior to the year 2000 it was like 85-90%. Instruments called 'polishers' were then used to try and wipe capsule clear.
Avatar f tn t specific but my exact worry was that given the fact that cataract surgey increases the risk of RD in highly myopic people, this risk could become greater with age and and so cataract surgery shouldn't be "put off" for too long even if it isn't yet necessary... I suppose thera are no straightforward rules to calculating risks and benefits...
