laser

Avatar m tn You could also try laser hair removal. It's expensive and a bit painful, but it would significantly reduce the amount of hair permanently. It works best for people with darker hair and lighter skin since the laser looks for the color contrast. If you do laser hair removal, you'll probably use a lidocaine cream 30 minutes before the treatment. It basically feels like a rubber band snapping on your skin. Laser hair removal requires several treatments to work.
682777 tn?1226687522 This is unique because it is relatively painless and unlike the laser hair removal process, IPL works equally well on most skin pigmentations without removing any of the pigment. IPL hair removal is reported to safely and effectively eliminate hair of all colors: blond, red, brown, black and even white. There are differences between laser and IPL. In IPL the intense light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted into heat.
Avatar m tn Hello, Laser hair removal is for permanent removal of hair.It needs multiple sessions. Laser hair reduction works by targeting the hair follicle through the melanin in the hair. Melanin absorbs laser energy and transfers it down to the hair follicles, rendering them ineffective, thus stopping future hair growth. It is effective for all skin types and the most commonly noticed side effects are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to sunburn.
Avatar n tn Hello, There are 5 types of laser hair removal systems. These include pulsed light, Nd YAG laser, diode laser. Alexanderite laser and ruby laser. This depends on the skin type and varies from patient to patient. I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist for the skin type and then depending on that, laser hair removal can be decided.
Avatar f tn I have very pale skin and was informed that I was a perfect candidate for laser hair removal on the face; however, the skin on the upper lip is far too sensitive for laser hair removal, whatever your skin tone. I have spent a fortune on creams such as Clinique's dark spot corrector with little effect. The issue is that the damage caused by the laser is so deep no topical solution is effective.
Avatar f tn Am having hirsutism coz of PCOS, i did my first hair laser removal. how many sessions of laser removal i need?????
4330487 tn?1352904949 m not qualified to give you a range of credible alternatives. But what does come to mind is laser hair removal. Those with light skin and dark hair are the best candidates for laser hair removal. I have PCOS, too, but I am the opposite...almost hairless. But, in the ways many women would like permanent hair removal, I do too. But since I have very fair skin and blond hair, I'm not a candidate for laser hair removal. Although expensive, that would be a permanent solution.
Avatar n tn Hello, Folliculitis is common after hair removal. After laser hair removal, apply cold compresses(ice cubes wrapped in a towel) on the rash and take some antihistaminic like benadryl or claritin. You can also apply calamine lotion on the rash. It will help in soothing the skin. Application of topical antibiotics like Neosporin will also help. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.

Avatar f tn The skin under the hair seems to be lighter than the skin that has no hair. Is this b/c the skin without hair is still healing and will blend in eventually or is it going to stay this way. Also, this was the first treatment. Will hair grow back in these spots that have no hair. After this first laser treatment, my husbands face was full of scabs and was swollen (it looked like he had his wisdom teeth pulled out).

Avatar f tn Hi ,Can i get laser hair removal while i have genital warts??my warts are tiny and there are about 2 or 3 warts.I just want to know if laser hair removal safe in this situation or it may cause of spreading warts on adjacent skin?
Avatar n tn Hello, The different methods of hair removal are shaving, chemical depilation by using depilatory creams, temporary epilation by plucking, tweezing, waxing and permanent epilation by electrolysis, thermolysis and laser hair removal. You can go in for waxing for these hair. If you go in for waxing ,then apply cold compresses(ice cubes wrapped in a towel) on the area after waxing and take some antihistaminic like benadryl or claritin. You can also apply calamine lotion on the area .
Avatar m tn If I wanted to do laser hair removal, how many sessions would I have to do just for one area, or would it take only one?
Avatar f tn I decided to receive laser hair removal on my face about a year and a half ago. The technician said that if I shaved I would get better results. Now I have all the little indentions as well as little while bumps from shaving my upper lip. They are extremely noticable, they told me they will go away with time and microdermabrasion. It has been some time and I have received about 8 microdermabrasion treatments.
Avatar f tn As for hair removal I have stopped shaving completely . When I was going for my laser hair removal treatments it seemed to spread them . So I have taken a break from that . I have started using Nair only when absolutely necessary , with the hair removal creams you have to rub or scrape the hair off it definitely irritates them and pop up smaller warts . Definitely frustrating .
101028 tn?1419603004 I did laser, and it worked well on my upper lip, but my chin hair has actually gotten worse.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been going for laser epilation for the whole body (including the face and genital area) for about 5 months. Transactions are carried out with the Alexandrite device. Normally, I have dry skin (I only have T-shaped lubrication on the face area). I am using cell renewal cream, but my skin is still not moist enough. I was using "Vaseline for Baby" before laser hair removal. It was obviously good for my skin.
Avatar n tn Hello, There are various methods like shaving, bleaching, depilatory creams, electrolysis or laser hair removal are available to remove the hair.Out of all these laser hair removal is the most long lasting.Nd YAG laser is very effective in long term reduction of hair.Risks include the chance of burning the skin or discoloring dark skin with the laser, hypopigmentation (white spots), and flare of acne. Avatar f tn Since my situation has to do with hair follicles, I was wondering about the safe ways of hair removal and if that too irritates my skin. Also, what should I apply to my skin pre and post hair removal? Another concern is the dark spots the boils left behind...what should I do to them now that i can't use cosmetics or strong products that would fade them quickly?
Avatar n tn You might want to try a different way of hair removal too. waxing might be better for you or even consider laser hair removal. You can also just trim hair shorter with a body hair trimmer instead of taking it all off. There are also many post bikini area shaving products out there too. The skin in the genital area is very sensitive and needs treated with extra tlc!!!!
Avatar f tn I do not want to explain to her why mommy is in there. I had my first Laser Hair Removal Treatment on the 27th of June, next appointment is August 2nd and this time they will use numbing cream!!! I'm worried that this will be ongoing for the rest of my life because of the PCOS. My question is has anyone gone through these treatments and if so what was your success do you still do touch ups?
