Avatar n tn It is best that you have this checked by a plastic surgeon or dermatologist for proper evaluation. Scar revision through surgery and laser treatments may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Silicone scar sheets lke this are often used after scar revision surgery to minimize the risk of problem scarring.
Avatar n tn I do however agree in that there are many types of laser treatments, and that there could be one that could do the job, on top of this, I totally agree in that laser is less invasive than scar revision, by all means a better option (if it doesn't leave permanent burn marks). All I can say, if I chose laser, I would need to be very confident that the surgeon/specialist that is doing it has a lot of experience and knows what he is doing.
Avatar f tn This is really messing with my head and I am curious if it will cost me a great deal to fix this issue. The sad thing is this scar was caused during a quest to remove facial hair from my face and neck area and I really should have sued the cosmetician that burned me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn effect, and then follow with a resurfacing laser to feather in the appearance of the scar with the surrounding skin. It is usually best to wait until after puberty as the scars can hyperpigment or keloid in a young child. There are ways to improve scars. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn It depends on how bad the scars are. If they are deep or raised (keloid) then cosmetic surgery with with radiation treatments is an option. It should be a last resort though. I'd try laser treatments first. If that doesn't work, talk with your doctor about possible scar revision surgery. Just remember, that it will still leave a scar. You can't get away with no scar at all. Another option is to get a tattoo to cover your scars. Just a few things to think about.
1123156 tn?1338863369 so i gotta wait before buying that, and i would love to try the laser thing but i know it will cost too much. im not a rich girl lol. especially to throw away and something like that.
Avatar n tn The average cost of anesthesia is between 350 and 800 dollars. Operating room fees can range from 600 to 1800 dollars. Other related expenses depend on a patient’s individual needs. The cost of lip augmentation also varies depending on a patient’s region, surgeon, procedure, and payment plan. the average cost of lip augmentation ranges from three hundred to five thousand dollars. The average cost of lip augmentation for injectables is a little over three hundred dollars per session.
Avatar f tn If there are true freckles along the scar, it may be possible to treat the area effectively with a laser. Scar revision is also possible, but with some uncertainty about the outcome. A local plastic surgeon can advise you about both issues.
Avatar m tn Thank you.
1503139 tn?1289436086 A few doctors have told me a mini tummy tuck would be able to move the scar lower, so it could hide under a bikini, and others have told me a simple scar revision would work and that I don't have enough excess skin for a mini tummy tuck. I have several pictures, I'm not quite sure how this site works but I'll try to post them in my profile. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Sometimes lips heal with thickened interior scarring that does not soften. If it persists, you may need a scar revision. I would advise a consultation with a local plastic surgeon.
Avatar f tn I had a scar revision where my ileostomy was and where my hernia wa. It made it worse and I was told a scar revision was supposed to make it blend in more with the rest of my stomach. It also hurts now - which it didn't before. It used to be indented and now it sticks out a lot...will insurance pay to fix this? They paid for the initial scar revision.
Avatar n tn Rosenberg, I was wondering in your opinion, when is the earliest time that one can have an areola revision? In addition to a very visible scar appearing a bit far away from the edge of the areola, the shape itself is also not so round... I can also feel lots of scar tissues around the areola... I had surgery almost 8 weeks ago and am experiencing some complications...so the areola revision is not a top priority for now... but I would like to have the shape corrected as early as possible...
Avatar f tn hi, i had a tummy tuck done last year but my pubic and genital area have been raised, i am now due to have a scar revision surgery but do not want this to raise the genital area any more if anything i was hoping there is a surgery that can restore the area to its original place or lower it somewhat, can you tell me if there is such a surgery that can do this and what is involved. Many thanks in advance for your time.
Avatar n tn Hi Dr. Rosenberg, My ps is about to perform a capsulorraphy on me for my bottomed out revision using PDS sutures only to 'lift' the pocket up and hope that scar tissues will build up and help create a newly formed crease. Since my breast is already harder than the other side and have had more surgeries, I am concerned about capsular contracture. I heard taking Vitamin E and other supplements such as the following (Scar Multiplex Formula) would help: http://www.smhomeopathic.
787203 tn?1239720933 I have a scar in the gulley between my chin and lower lip, from a pretty traumatic accident about 7 years ago. The wound healed well, but I don't scar well. It is a jagged scar about an inch long with that "railroad track" look. What kind of result could I expect when I seek to have it revised?
Avatar n tn Now, 8 months later, I am scheduled for a scar revision. By next August, my surgeon says it will have been a year since the actual surgery, so it may be time then to go in again and try to reduce both the dimpling and the "bunching up" of the skin, that is, whatever the scar revision doesn't accomplish. He also mentioned the possibility of putting some kind of bonding material between my chin and the underlying tissue, at that one year mark.
Avatar n tn Wecome to MH and this forum annan , I am not certain what country you live in till you fill in your profile however here in the US we have Laser that works on scars very effectively, also other countries have laser treatment for scars , birthmarks and other blemishes. I have had a birthmark removed successfully by laser, the cost has come down considerably. No one has to live with scars anymore, put this into our Dermatology forum for further answers.
Avatar n tn I have had a 4th surgery on my left leg. TKR 5/09, Total revision 4/10, revision of knee cap w/ bone graph 1/11, and scope for scar tissue 2/12. I have multiple problems with my leg, pain most of which is walking and when I engage my quad. It hits a 20 on the pain scale. You can hear the massive grinding and crunching when the pain occurs. I have had many opinions, none of which is really answering problems. I have one issue that I feel has been a big part of the problem.
Avatar n tn Laser may be more expensive and they may require more sessions for effective results. This depends on the extent and depth of the scar. For small scars, then Laser may be helpful. Microdermabrasion may even help. How large is this scar?
Avatar n tn He has been giving me IPL laser and Pixel laser treatments as well as both red and blue light therapy for inflammation and injecting a very diluted kenelog solution into the scar tissue as this helps it break up and get thinner and softer. He is next probably going to try some Accent treatment on the jawline to help tighten it and rid the jowls that I never had prior to the "lift". I suffered every rare complication in the book from lip paralysis (it came back) to a bad seroma.
