Avatar n tn Im trained in laser treatments I wouldn't recommend laser hair removal whilst pregnant based on there not being enough research to support it if it is safe or not
Avatar f tn Any responsible clinic will not perform laser hair removal while pregnant. However, it is safe afterwards.
Avatar f tn Hi I've got pcos and only found out about 6 years ago when I couldn't conceive and underwent fertility treatment to have my two daughters. I'm now 32 and feel very blessed two have two beautiful healthy children. I'm just getting a bit down about my PCOS and the weight gain and excess hair especially. I am still breastfeeding so don't want to take any meds ATM. Does laser treatment work to get rid of hair permanently or at least lessen it?
Avatar m tn You could also try laser hair removal. It's expensive and a bit painful, but it would significantly reduce the amount of hair permanently. It works best for people with darker hair and lighter skin since the laser looks for the color contrast. If you do laser hair removal, you'll probably use a lidocaine cream 30 minutes before the treatment. It basically feels like a rubber band snapping on your skin. Laser hair removal requires several treatments to work.
Avatar f tn The reasoning is because there are no studies done to show the effects laser hair removal has on the baby. Since there are no studies, we don't know if it is okay or not so most companies (ones that care about your well being) would refuse treatments.
1178131 tn?1282654819 I do laser hair removal. They still do the treatments while you are TTC but once you find out you are pregnant they put the treatments on hold for you....I'm not sure if it effects TTC or not...and I'm not sure the prices of other procedures. I like laser but it only works on dark hair because it zaps pigment....And I don't know how much lip costs because I got mine free with purchase of underarms..... I wasn't very much help was I .....
Avatar f tn I got burn while taking treatment for Laser hair removal...they have discoloration and one blistering which popped...does they leave permanent scar or its curable...what medication and care to be taken (moisturiser??
Avatar f tn My husband had laser hair removal about two weeks ago to his beard. He developed folliculitis. The folliculitis is now cleared up and the hair on his beard is very patchy. The skin under the hair seems to be lighter than the skin that has no hair. Is this b/c the skin without hair is still healing and will blend in eventually or is it going to stay this way. Also, this was the first treatment. Will hair grow back in these spots that have no hair.
682777 tn?1226687522 This is unique because it is relatively painless and unlike the laser hair removal process, IPL works equally well on most skin pigmentations without removing any of the pigment. IPL hair removal is reported to safely and effectively eliminate hair of all colors: blond, red, brown, black and even white. There are differences between laser and IPL. In IPL the intense light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted into heat.
Avatar f tn I have PCOS which causes extra hair growth so I plucked the area more frequently than others. My derm advised me to seek laser hair removal, but now I am worried that laser hair removal will just make matters worse, which I just cannot handle. He said that laser hair removal is superior to electrolysis, but stories like this tell otherwise.
Avatar f tn I decided to receive laser hair removal on my face about a year and a half ago. The technician said that if I shaved I would get better results. Now I have all the little indentions as well as little while bumps from shaving my upper lip. They are extremely noticable, they told me they will go away with time and microdermabrasion. It has been some time and I have received about 8 microdermabrasion treatments.
606433 tn?1220239937 According to www.hairremovaltips.org, permanent hair removal can be divided to 3 method, which is electrolysis, laser and latest painless radio frequency wave.
280369 tn?1316702041 Ive heard that laser hair removal really stings like someone flicking a rubber band! ouch!! Have you tried using talcum powder and a razor,it doesnt sting and prevents rash.
Avatar f tn Laser hair removal might be what you are looking for. Why don't you want to shave though? If it is because of uncomfortability then laser probably isn't the way...
4330487 tn?1352904949 m not qualified to give you a range of credible alternatives. But what does come to mind is laser hair removal. Those with light skin and dark hair are the best candidates for laser hair removal. I have PCOS, too, but I am the opposite...almost hairless. But, in the ways many women would like permanent hair removal, I do too. But since I have very fair skin and blond hair, I'm not a candidate for laser hair removal. Although expensive, that would be a permanent solution.

Avatar n tn Hello, There are 5 types of laser hair removal systems. These include pulsed light, Nd YAG laser, diode laser. Alexanderite laser and ruby laser. This depends on the skin type and varies from patient to patient. I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist for the skin type and then depending on that, laser hair removal can be decided.
Avatar n tn ive gone through laser hair removal but hair growth near the chin is still the same...wht should i do consult a gynaec or a dermatologist?
Avatar f tn Laser hair removal on the face is cheap and easy these days, I did it for my eyebrow area/unibrow.
Avatar n tn Hello, The different methods of hair removal are shaving, chemical depilation by using depilatory creams, temporary epilation by plucking, tweezing, waxing and permanent epilation by electrolysis, thermolysis and laser hair removal. You can go in for waxing for these hair. If you go in for waxing ,then apply cold compresses(ice cubes wrapped in a towel) on the area after waxing and take some antihistaminic like benadryl or claritin. You can also apply calamine lotion on the area .
