Common Questions and Answers about Laser hair removal upper lip side effects

laser

Avatar f tn I have very pale skin and was informed that I was a perfect candidate for laser hair removal on the face; however, the skin on the upper lip is far too sensitive for laser hair removal, whatever your skin tone. I have spent a fortune on creams such as Clinique's dark spot corrector with little effect. The issue is that the damage caused by the laser is so deep no topical solution is effective.
4330487 tn?1352904949 m not qualified to give you a range of credible alternatives. But what does come to mind is laser hair removal. Those with light skin and dark hair are the best candidates for laser hair removal. I have PCOS, too, but I am the opposite...almost hairless. But, in the ways many women would like permanent hair removal, I do too. But since I have very fair skin and blond hair, I'm not a candidate for laser hair removal. Although expensive, that would be a permanent solution.
606433 tn?1220239937 According to www.hairremovaltips.org, permanent hair removal can be divided to 3 method, which is electrolysis, laser and latest painless radio frequency wave.
Avatar f tn Am having hirsutism coz of PCOS, i did my first hair laser removal. how many sessions of laser removal i need?????
Avatar m tn Drugs like androgen receptor blockers, androgen suppressing agents and 5 alpha reductase inhibitors are also used. Permanent means of hair removal by electrolysis and laser treatment are also useful. I would suggest you to consult a dermatologist and discuss all the pros and cons of these methods so that the best treatment for you can be decided.
Avatar f tn Ive been doing full body lazer treatment b4 I fnd out im.preg.
1178131 tn?1282654819 I do laser hair removal. They still do the treatments while you are TTC but once you find out you are pregnant they put the treatments on hold for you....I'm not sure if it effects TTC or not...and I'm not sure the prices of other procedures. Avatar f tn I decided to receive laser hair removal on my face about a year and a half ago. The technician said that if I shaved I would get better results. Now I have all the little indentions as well as little while bumps from shaving my upper lip. They are extremely noticable, they told me they will go away with time and microdermabrasion. It has been some time and I have received about 8 microdermabrasion treatments.
Avatar f tn Hello, Laser hair removal is not 100% fullproof and some miniature hair may be left even after multiple laser hair removal sessions. Also it is not without side effects and may cause redness, erythema, hyper or hypopigmentation and sometimes burning and dryness of skin. So discuss all the pros and cons with a dermatologist before getting it done.
Avatar f tn My hair grows like everyday and its such a pain to take care of now. Would laser hair removal help? help im so embarrassed and never want to go anywhere now.
Avatar f tn Although I am concerned mainly with the hair on my face. I have hair on my cheeks, sideburn, upper lip, chin. I tried waxing but it only made that portion of my face like 5X lighter than the rest of my face. Im terrified of trying new ways of hair removal because i feel as if it will come out looking stupid. Thisissue is making me very stressed and anxious; also its ruining my life. I have very low self esteem and have become very quiet. What do you sugguest I do?
Avatar f tn I work at the top laser hair removal company in the uk and we don't treat anybody who is pregnant, it's not worth the risk, it can also cause pigmentation because of the hormones x rubbish I know because I was due to get mine but iv just found out in 5 weeks =)
Avatar m tn Hello, Laser hair removal is for permanent removal of hair.It needs multiple sessions. Laser hair reduction works by targeting the hair follicle through the melanin in the hair. Melanin absorbs laser energy and transfers it down to the hair follicles, rendering them ineffective, thus stopping future hair growth. It is effective for all skin types and the most commonly noticed side effects are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to sunburn.
101028 tn?1419603004 I did laser, and it worked well on my upper lip, but my chin hair has actually gotten worse.
Avatar f tn I do not want to explain to her why mommy is in there. I had my first Laser Hair Removal Treatment on the 27th of June, next appointment is August 2nd and this time they will use numbing cream!!! I'm worried that this will be ongoing for the rest of my life because of the PCOS. My question is has anyone gone through these treatments and if so what was your success do you still do touch ups?
Avatar f tn Hello, Since you are having laser treatment sittings for the hair growth on upper lip, it can be hyperpigmentation as a result of side effect of the laser treatment also. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist and get this possibility evaluated. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn If they are a cosmetic disfigurement then you can get shaving or laser hair removal done. Laser hair removal is not without side effects and hence the pros and cons should be discussed in details with a cosmetologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I am on 200mg lamictal per day as well as methylphenidate (ritalin). I got laser hair removal on my face. It was a very positive experience. No seizures (my diagnosis is JME and I get grand mals) whatsoever and no photosensitive reactions. Hope this helps you in your decision. I think it's well worth it!
Avatar f tn The different methods of hair removal are shaving, chemical depilation by using depilatory creams, temporary epilation by plucking, tweezing, waxing and permanent epilation by electrolysis, thermolysis and laser hair removal. But if the hair growth is excessive then hirsutism has to be ruled out. Hirsutism is usually caused by hormonal imbalance and in women PCOS is one of the leading causes of hirsutism and infertility.
Avatar n tn I pluck hair from upper lips using tweezer. I also have a habit of pressing against the area above my upper lip when I have nothing to do. In the end, there is a dark spot at the area, as shown in the picture. How can I remove it?
Avatar f tn Discuss the advantages of laser hair removal therapy with your dermatologist. The laser sessions may be done repeatedly depending on severity and extent of the condition.
Avatar f tn If you are a woman who has excess androgens, there are medications that can help stop the growth by correcting the hormonal excess. There probably are side effects but if they are usually minor for most people (if they weren't the drugs wouldn't be on the market). I don't think there is anything to make hair grow shorter permanently. If you are a man, and you have an excess of androgens, there are probably medications to bring your levels to normal level.
Avatar f tn My husband had laser hair removal about two weeks ago to his beard. He developed folliculitis. The folliculitis is now cleared up and the hair on his beard is very patchy. The skin under the hair seems to be lighter than the skin that has no hair. Is this b/c the skin without hair is still healing and will blend in eventually or is it going to stay this way. Also, this was the first treatment. Will hair grow back in these spots that have no hair.
Avatar f tn I had an angioma (red spot) removed from above my upper lip. They used a needle to cauterize the spot which was supposed to make it go away. It took a number of injections over several visits before the redness seemed to respond and fade a bit. But in it's place, I now have a triangular shaped divet about the size of the head of a pin where the skin is missing and no longer flush with the rest of my skin above my top lip.
Avatar n tn hi everyone, i have these whitehead like pimples on the area right below the lower lip, not on it, but the area under the lip. you cant really see it if you stretch the area out, but theyve been there for about 5 or 6 years now...every morning theyre there, whether i popped them or not. please help me, its been getting really annoying and making me worried. thank you.
