Avatar n tn another opthalmologist just told me that i am not suffering from exotrophia, but just an eye power problem. i was told by him that my right eye has a positive number and the right eye goes out of focus towards my ear when m not wearing glasses. he will be able to reduce it to normal by laser. i would like to know how much could be the success chance in my case and does the laser have major side effects?
1539436 tn?1292869871 I got very excited about the idea but before i take a step, could you please advice me if my age is the ryt age to get a laser eye surgery, as my aunt warned me of my age to be very young. she advised me to be atleast 24+.
Avatar m tn Hi! I'm 16 years old. I got minus 11 power in my both eyes. Can I undergo a laser surgery to reduce power before 21 years?? If not, then is there any alternative way?
Avatar n tn Sir your response does scared me a little , But I am just curious why the doctor suggested piggyback lenses when there are other options available although I am still reading about surface cornea surgery (PPK) or femtosecond laser surgery and do not have a good understanding yet , does the IOLs generally stick to the eye if not followed up regularly with right doctors and right medicines
Avatar m tn About six months ago (February and March, 2015) at age 80 I underwent cataract surgery on both eyes. About a month afterwards my doctor recommended that I undergo laser capsulotomy for posterior capsule opacification in both eyes. I have two questions related to this procedure, but, first, I wish to submit some background information on the cataract surgery and its results. After implantation of a "far-distance" IOL (toric) in the left eye, I agreed to use the monovision technique.
Avatar f tn m extremely nervous about letting anyone do surgery on them again. What are the possible cons of having the laser surgery? I was told it could stop the damage but not repair damage already done. That sounds good. But what possible negative affect could the surgery do? I have known two people close to me that had these surgeries and truly didn't benefit from them that I could tell. I'm truly perplexed about it all. I have severe dry eye that is causing severe sensitivity to light.
Avatar n tn t changed for 7-8 yrs now, so it was weird to me that my left eye went up, even though it was very little. Is it possible that my eye laser surgery could affect this? I went for a check up with my ophthalmologist in August 2016 and everything was very good.
Avatar m tn Hi there, well when I was 8 months old I was diagonosed with catract in Lagos, Nigeria. So was operated for the same in London at the age of 8 months back in the year 1981. After the operation, I had to wear spectacles & it started with a very high number of +22 which has come down to +11.5 now over the years. I also have a lazy eye in my left eye at the momen & very less vison in the left eye.
Avatar n tn 2006 Verisyse lens, and iridectomy. Current diagnose with cataract. 2006 unsuccessful laser floater surgery. Thick cornea. • My right eye is filled with multiple floaters, and the vitreous is extremely cloudy, weiss ring. Although if necessary with eye movement I can read an eye chart 20/20. Floaters do not bother me, but the cloudy vitreous makes simple functions, tv, pc, and reading challenging.
Avatar f tn It's not likely that surface laser will get rid of -10 myopia thus the glasses will be thinner but still needed. Whether he wants to take on these risks with only one eye is his to make. I would get a 2nd and 3rd opinion one from retina eye MD and a different cornea/refractive surgeon.
Avatar n tn Some of these being eyedrops, medication and laser surgery. I am interested in the laser surgery because it supposedly unclogs the mechanism (not sure what its called) that carries fluid out of the eye, thus lowering the pressure. What do you find most effective?
Avatar n tn I developed cataracts in my early 50's. Had surgery on my right eye in 2004 and my left in 2007. In 2008 I developed really bad floaters in my right eye. They came up very quickly. I went to several eye doctors including the surgeon who did the cataract work. I was told repeatedly that this was just something I had to live with. I did my own research and then went back to my eye doctor this winter (2010). I had already concluded that the laser option was dicey.
Avatar m tn nt the SLT laser that caused it as l only had the laser in one eye. He said my vision is 20/20 and l passed the peripheral vision test .
20849194 tn?1537445385 IMPORTANT: You are myopic (nearsighted) not farsighted (hyperopic). Lattice occurs 6-8% of population more in high myopes like you. (I have lattice). It may be stable or more can develop as you get older. No way to tell. Lattice DOES NOT GO AWAY. If you had it before you still have it. It is small sometimes and hard to see. LASIK does involve some risk of creating holes/tears and breaks in lattice. I would suggest you get a 3rd opinion from an Eye MD that specializes in Retina disease.
Avatar m tn I had been wearing eye glasses for nearly 35 years from the age of 11 upto 46 for short sight(myopia). At the age of 46(2002) I had undergone surgery for cataract in both my eyes on two consequtive days and was fitted with monofocal IOLs. A couple of years later, during a routine check up a small hole in the retina of my left eye was detected on the periphery and it was treated with laser coagulation. Subsequently I got myself checked every 6 months.
Avatar n tn Thanks Mr Oyakawa , You mean to say my chances of surgery being successful is 98 to 99% ? . but people say if i get the laser surgery done at age of 35 my eyes will start watering & will have problems in future , is it true ?? do you prefer wearing contact lenses or surgery ?? which contact lenses are best suited for me ??
Avatar f tn t specific but my exact worry was that given the fact that cataract surgey increases the risk of RD in highly myopic people, this risk could become greater with age and and so cataract surgery shouldn't be "put off" for too long even if it isn't yet necessary... I suppose thera are no straightforward rules to calculating risks and benefits...
Avatar n tn I am now planning to undergo eye surgery. I have heard of many surgeries. Is it possible for me to undergo eye surgery with the power that I have now? Few doctors said it is not possible and few said it is possible. I have no idea on whom to trust and whom not to. In case if I undergo any surgery would it be possible to get the sight to normal? Which surgery/operation should I undergo?
Avatar m tn Hi l think l have around ten or more eye floaters for past 15 years , probably slowly getting more over time, they started when l was around 35 . Most of them are the transparent type and a few black dot type that sort of look like moving flies. The transparent floaters dont bother me much although l would prefer they were not there, its the black dot floaters l hate, especaiily one in my left eye in central vision, if l could just get rid of that single black dot floater l would be happy.
Avatar m tn I know there is some evidence to suggest that vitrectomies can accelerate the growth of cataracts. I experienced this in my right eye. My question is can the laser used to repair retinal tears cause cataracts as well? I had a retinal tear repaired by laser last October and another one repaired last January in my left eye. This was done in the doctor's office without the vitrectomy and now I have a cataract on that eye impairing my vision.
Avatar f tn After surgery, Laser Retinal Laser (PRP) has a steady shadow in my eye. what do you think? I went back to the same doctor and did not help and just dropped an eye.
