Common Questions and Answers about Laser eye injury

laser

Avatar m tn Both say its nothing urgent, since it down and not up. One of them says it can and should be treated with laser, another one says laser will not work, we should let it heal on its own, but if it progresses, go to surgery. Its been 6 months now since injury, so if it didn't heal by now, is there still a chance it will heal in the future? How long it takes in average to heal, if it heals? Should i wait or proceed with laser? Thank you.
Avatar n tn My name is Andres, im 23 years old. I have keratoconous. And had a cataract removed on my left eye only due to an injury(traumatic cataract). I also have some type of traumatic mydriasis left after the injury. My doctor decided not to perform both the cataract and pupil repair at the same time. Saying it is more risky when they are done simultaneously. Unfortunately, my left eye feels a little off balanced. since the difference between two eyes is about 3.25 diopeters.
Avatar n tn I have extremely red eyes, the veins are abundant and I wanted to know if there is a laser that can remove them.
Avatar f tn I have spoken to the doctor and he says i have -2 in my left eye and -1 in my right eye so i need to wait for a week and then i can get my glasses made according to the new number .He says to go for an enhancement laser after 2.5 months.I am now worried about the side effects of this much laser in my eyes as well as what will happen if even an enhancement laser doesnt improve my vision? Any opionions about enhancement laser and its sideeffects?

Avatar f tn Not it is not likely to be permanant HOWEVER it is extremely important to have a complete dilated eye exam to rule out a retinal detachment or other eye injury. The flashing lights are a common symptom of retinal detachment and you did suffer a significant blunt trauma.

Avatar f tn No, all you can consider it is that the eye had a RD and that laser to date has prevented an RD. It is not a normal eye and never will be again. 4. It is more likely related to the trauma. 5. Traction on the vitreous likely from the laser induced scars. Flashes without movement day or night would require a repeat exam by her Eye MDs.

Avatar n tn Remember your unoperated eye is your most important eye, make sure its examined regularly and avoid damage due to injury or bad living habits.
Avatar n tn I had an eye injury that caused a a detached retina. Following the surgery, there was damage to my optic nerve. DR said the nerve was "gray and about 90% damaged". Any options for repair?

Avatar m tn If the injury caused a retinal tear or acute hole, laser will help prevent a retinal detachment. This is done in the ophthalmologist's office. The procedure should be done if there is a retinal tear or hole; the laser will help seal the surrounding retina down and prevent fluid from getting under the retina and causing a detachment. In that case, a much more aggressive surgery would be needed.
940358 tn?1245207998 I have had this on my right eye since 1982 from a head injury. I have been told it can be fixed but I could go blind in the eye. Now other than getting it done and chancing that my left eye doesnt go blind as well, what new procederes can help fix this problem other than cosmeticly? I am currently changing Optometrists and need a Opthomologist Specialist that knows.
Avatar n tn Do I need to have a schleral buckle fitted or can my eye defect just be monitored? My new optician discovered a hole on the lower edge of the retina in my left eye. She thought it looked like an old injury which had healed itself but referred me to an eye hospital. I hadn't and still haven't experienced any detatched retina symptoms. During my first visit to the eye hospital the optician's diagnosis was confirmed, ie a hole in the retina which had self healed.
Avatar n tn Hi , I have been seeing a kind of mild flickering in my right eyes (like subtle change in intensity of light ). I have had a injury to my right eye 2 yrs back when a ball hit it. My Doc said It caused a very small chroidal scar now , and also 3 -5%macula is slightly weak because of the swelling caused then. I had a dialated checkup 15 days back and doc said retina is fine and that the injury and scars are settled and wont worsen.
Avatar m tn When I went to a new eye doctor about 4 years ago, the tests showed the right eye now had some visual field loss in the extreme peripheral vision in one quadrant. I was put on eye pressure lowering eye drops in that eye then and continued since then and regular eye tests (3times/year now with a glaucoma specialist) and the eye has been stable (not gotten any worse) since. The left eye is perfectly fine, no glaucoma, they just monitor its pressure too.
Avatar m tn she said maybe the bilateral opacification was there before and the injury worsened it in that eye. She said it isn't anything to worry about. Any thoughts? 3) 2 of 3 docs say she should never in her life wear contacts due to her injury. I saw a study about contact lens causing very mild corneal abrasions but that it isn't a problem. Is this why they said this? What is usually recommended?
Avatar m tn Really two questions: 1) I'm 31 years old and have developed mild/moderate astigmatism in my right eye (-1.00). I'm 20/25 for distance vision in that eye, but can definitely see the difference, especially at night. I'm right eye dominant, so the visual picture without my glasses looks kind of hinky to me and can result in eye strain, so I usually wear my glasses at all times. I had PRK when I was 21 with excellent results (5.00 diopters myopia in each eye to plano all around).
Avatar n tn I had this surgery May 21, 2009. Since then I have undergone 2 laser treatments to repair 2 tears. Laser zaps were over 500 combined. My eye flares up and hurts very badly. When this happens, vision is affected. Could I be alergic to the buckle after this long? What are the symptoms? What can be done?
Avatar n tn Do no use tobacco or cannabis products in any form, eat a healthy diet (frutis, fiber, fish, berry, nuts, dark leafy greens), avoid obesity which in turn will reduce the risk of diabetes, hypertension and arteriosclerosis all of which can damage the eye, wear proper eye protection for contact sports and tasks with high risk of eye injury, (welding, metal on metal hammering, fireworks, fire-arms), Protect the eyes and body from excess sun exposure and wear uV blocking sunglasses, especially if t
