Common Questions and Answers about Laser eye color surgery

laser

Avatar m tn I had surgery just over a month ago for macular hole and cataract. Some laser treatment was required and oil was used not gas. I stopped using the eye drops (Maxitrol and Mydrilate) five days ago but the pupil is still permanently dilated. My understanding was that the pupil should return to normal a few hours after stopping the drops. Will the eye return to normal?
Avatar n tn A month ago I had a secondary cataract removed from my right eye with a laser. My eyes were tested yesterday at a different doctors office and I was very surprised to see that the letters on the chart looked jagged! Meaning that the appearance of the letters instead of appearing smooth seemed as if they had been ripped out of something This doctor said that their was nothing that he could do but to come back in six weeks. He would not say that this was caused by the laser. I am stunned.
Avatar n tn Do you think it would it be a good idea to get a second opinion on the results of my right eye surgery? (The great results immediately after the surgery do seem to indicate that the surgeon did a good job. For the left eye surgery, he did comment that now he knows how my eye "heals" - so could the right eye problem be something to do with being keloid, which I am? However, I am concerned that he says the results are excellent and dismisses the problems as likely related to my ERM.
1157141 tn?1262451698 What happens is over time, you can both feel and see that something different is going on with your eye.... Colors may not seem quite the same color in that eye, it may feel is though it is clouded over or something of that nature, the same as it did when you had your original cataract...
Avatar f tn See the retina surgery. You need a thorough evaluation of the back of your eye especially the macula. You may have macular pathology. Yes I also tell my patients not to have yag laser or vitrectomy treatment of floaters. Far too risky and much less successful to warrant taking those risks.
Avatar n tn I had scleral buckle surgery (and tear was frozen, instead of laser, no gas bubble) about 5 months ago, according to my surgeon and other eye doctor, everything is fine and healing as normal. Recently I noticed on the inside corner of the eye that had the surgery, the sclera is turning grey, some days seems darker than others, does anyone know why this might be? also your opinion on... Do you think I will ever get my vision back where the tear occured?
Avatar f tn I am 27 years old and female. I had a procedure called photocoagulation (laser eye surgery) done at the beginning of June for holes in my retina in my left eye. About 2 weeks later I began having pain around my left eye. A week later I also noticed that my left pupil was bigger than the right. I made an appointment to see the opthalmologist who performed the procedure. He said I had physiological anisocoria and said that the laser surgery had nothing to do with it.
Avatar n tn How long dilated depends on type of drop, how much got in eye and color of eye. One eye usually wears off first because the second eye to get the drops is tearing and sqeezing and not as much gets in.
Avatar n tn another opthalmologist just told me that i am not suffering from exotrophia, but just an eye power problem. i was told by him that my right eye has a positive number and the right eye goes out of focus towards my ear when m not wearing glasses. he will be able to reduce it to normal by laser. i would like to know how much could be the success chance in my case and does the laser have major side effects?
Avatar m tn Sinse birth i am very myopic witch stabilized age 23 (-14 both eyes)I 2 weeks after refractive surgery (Artiflex AC IOL) i notice new floaters and light flashes in my right eye and ii was diagnosed with a retinal tear and did laser to seal it.
1778927 tn?1381878747 I have had laser surgery to correct CSR in my left eye. Over the past two weeks I have noticed a purple hue when driving at night. It seems to come from car lights and is a deep purple color. During the day I will notice fleeting light purple dots off in my peripheral vision as well. Is this a normal side affect of CSR or laser therapy? I had the laser about 4 months ago. Will it ever go away?
Avatar n tn I had a crystal lens with my Rx implanted in the left eye only. After the surgery my vision in my left eye is now 20/35 from 20/50. My right eye is also 20/50. Now I have trouble seeing because I see 2 different views with each eye. My surgical left eye implant views things closer than my right eye....so... this makes my left eye see things larger than my right. My left eye also see things lower than my right eye. I also see the colors differently with my new lens vs.
Avatar m tn Folks I am considering laser surgery. I have astigmatism. Is it the right thing to do and also which method is best? Any suggestion is most welcomed.
Avatar m tn Hi! I'm 16 years old. I got minus 11 power in my both eyes. Can I undergo a laser surgery to reduce power before 21 years?? If not, then is there any alternative way?
Avatar n tn Most recently (this year) I had laser on my other eye to repair a small detachment and tears, and because the surgeon intended to do everything possible to seal off the problem, I was given an injection of anesthetic in my eye before the laser. In other words, the surgeon anticipated that the laser could cause pain. I do have lattice but was treated with laser only when tears/holes appeared. I hope by now your pain is gone!
Avatar m tn Laser coagulation of retina was done prior to cataract surgery of one eye, since there were small tears or holes in that eye. Prior to laser coagulation there were no symptoms, but 2 days after that flashes started. They went down in frequency and cataract surgery was done after 5 weeks. Flashes started again after 3 days and went down but come occasionally even after 11 months.
Avatar m tn 1. Cataract surgery - bladeless by laser OR manual phakoemulsification? 2. Consider trying an accomodating lens (still new technology I think) or abandon my eye's focussing muscles forever and insert a simple monofocal (aspheric or non aspheric?)? 3. Acrylic or silicone? I see that a lot of issues with multifocal lenses is now over 5 years old. Have things changed now in 2014?
Avatar m tn 2) except the disturbance at night which can be solved by using color soft contact lens. I have a question that does this kind of laser surgery to prevent future retinal detachment harm, improve/ worsen my night vision starburst? I don't have any problem that if I still have to use color contact lens to solve night time starburst. And why i need to do such surgery is to prevent future retinal detachment. Thanks a lot.
Avatar n tn I have had two episodes of bleeding behind the retina since having laser surgery for catarac removal with lens? and is it dangerous?
Avatar f tn Nuclear Nonsenile Cataract OU-Stable Progressive High (degenerative) Myopia OU-Stable Cataract, Cortical OS-Stable Posterior Subcapsular Polar Nonsenile Cataract OU-Stable Regular Astigmatism OU-Stable Cystoid Macular Degeneration Of Retina OU-Stable Retinoschisis Unspecified OU-New (since this is rare in females I have to undergo more tests to confirm it is the juvenile x-linked form) This is everything I have been diagnosed with.
Avatar n tn I had laser surgery on my left eye 10 days ago. I had cataract surgery on the same eye about 2 weeks before that. I have had blurry vision with floaters since the laser surgery. It really wasn't too bad after the cataract surgery. I was wondering how long it should take for my vision to clear up? This discussion is related to Floaters after cataract surgery.
Avatar n tn I just had Retinal Laser surgery in both eyes. I was given numbing drops in both eyes as well as an injection of numbing meds. Certain areas of my eye during treatment were absolutely unbearable. My Dr. said in so many words I was crazy as "there are no nerve receptors in the eye". We actually argued about it because he simply didn't believe I truly had any pain. As the procedure continued, he lowered the power/strength on the laser, I noticed it completely lessoned the pain.
Avatar m tn (1) Would capsulotomy tend to decrease refraction within the eye (increase focal length) and thereby reduce the amount of negative correction presently needed? (2) Would you suggest that I undergo surgery on the left eye in the near future and defer it for the right one -- or, would you suggest that surgery be performed on both eyes in the near future during one session? Postscript: Overall, I believe that monovision was a good choice.
