Common Questions and Answers about Laser eye bag treatment

laser

Avatar f tn I don't know if anyone else has this condition? I've had them since my late teens. Bumps under both eyes. I've tried laser - one eye was treated with little difference. Now I wouldn't care about them if they were anywhere else, but when something is on the face it can really affect ones confidence. I have conceeded that I will probably never get rid of all of them. But two options have been suggested to me - cauterization and eye bag removal.
Avatar f tn My doctor left the bag of the eye in tact after the operation. Is this the difference between a Vitrectomy and a Membrane Peel? If so when I have a Capsulotomy next month will this bag pull on my eye during the laser treatment and cause a possible detachment?
Avatar m tn Do I have to prepare for this treatment? I have an appointment to see the MD eye surgeon in December. I saw the OD who is also in the MD's office yesterday. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Got Vaseline in my eye after lens exchange hi had tetraflex lens implants 8 months a go great vision 20 - 15 and good reading ability About 3 months later I got a lens bag wrinkle in one eye. I went and seen the surgeon who did a yag laser treatment on one eye this left me with a small stardust. I went back and seen the surgeon who said the yag size and condition of the lens are good. Im putting of getting the other one done until I can find out what's causing the star burst.
Avatar n tn Apparently what it really does is remove a huge chunk of the backside of the bag. If you picture your bag (after the original lens was removed) as a bean bag chair, the YAG is removing a circle of fabric the size of a garbage can lid. After that, I would imagine that removing the IOL would be reasonably easy, but installing a new one seems like it would be extremely difficult. That's the image in my head, anyway. I would be interested to hear from others if it's accurate.
Avatar f tn I have the same problem that koolGuy - severe myopy -14 D and -15 D and 2 laser treatments to pheripherical retinal degeneration done in two last months. The problem is that my left eye is "strange" after this last laser treatment. I think I have more floaters also.I dont know how to remedy it. Somebody could answer me? This discussion is related to severe myopia -16 and peripheral retinal degeneration.

Avatar n tn Part of the added difficulty is that the natural lens is contained within a bag, the capsular bag which they try to leave intact for better results (its just more complicated if the bag breaks). They take out the natural lens from the bag and put the new artificial lens back in the bag.
Avatar m tn I am also taking eye drops for Glaucoma, last check showed an IOP of 15 mm in both eyes. Is it possible that the lens is moving in the bag independent of the eye after all these years? How is the lens supported in the bag anyway?
Avatar f tn The bag the natural lens was in gets left behind but clouds up. The YAG laser punches holes in the bag to clear the cloudiness. I'm surprised they didn't explain all this to you before gaining consent. Sometimes it can cause inflammation and the cells get in the vitreous and cloud your vision. Ask your eye surgeon to look int this possibility.
Avatar f tn I had cataract surgery last week and now am seeing I have a "bag" under my eye...I've never had bags before..its 10 days since surgery...I have complete faith in my opthalmologist here in Teaneck, NJ...I'd just like a second response on why this might be?
1778927 tn?1381878747 When the doctor check again he said it had gotten much bigger. He decided to laser it that night. It has been 10 days since the laser and it appears that some of my vision is returning. Things are still wavy and I see a purple/red hue off to the left of my eye. My question is that since the laser surgery it appears almost that there are 2 spots now so is it typical for the bubble (mine was oblong) to heal in different sections creating the illusion of 2 spots?
Avatar m tn Dear willow1020, There are many potential complications of undergoing a YAG laser treatment such as increased intraocular pressure, swelling of the area of one’s best sight known as the macula and/or retinal detachment. Playing the saxophone may increase the intraocular pressure in the eye which over one’s lifetime, may influence whether one develops some changes associated with glaucoma. The exact relation of playing wind instruments and eye disease is not known. Dr. Feldman Sandy T.
Avatar n tn they ask us take laser treatment for this laser treatment. Can we go for this laser treatment? what information we should know about laser treatment before taking it ?
Avatar n tn About 5 years ago I had a cold laser treatment to correct fluid leakage in my eye caused by Central Serous Retinopathy. My vision was great then about 2 years ago it started to get worst. At first no doctor could tell me why. They said there was change in the retina which they could see but did not know why it happened. I recently saw a retina specialist who said that the retina change was from scar tissue due to the cold laser treatment.
Avatar n tn My surgeon wants to do preventive laser treatment in my right eye where there is lattice degeneration. I am 44 and severely myopic (-13) My question is about the recovery for the surgery. Am I looking at another two weeks of being still? He has only talked about doing laser treatment. I have read conflicting information on the web and will have to wait until at least Monday to get that question answered. Any help would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn About a month ago I had yag laser treatment (by another surgeon) of one eye. It went from pre-laser treatment 20/15 distance vision to post-laser treatment of 20/25 distance vision. The second surgeon is not sure why that happened. I do recall the first surgeon saying he was going to do slight monovision although I don't recall which eye that was -- I thought it was the other eye.
Avatar m tn The retina specialist back east recommended that I look into getting some laser treatments in my right eye when I returned home, for prevention of future tears/RD. Questions: 1.) Should I go forward with this preventative laser surgery, or just monitor the right eye regularly? My fear is that if i sit and wait, and watch, my right eye will develop a tear(s) w/vitreous hemorrhages, causing more floaters and risk of RD as well.
Avatar n tn I am a 26 years old and had LASIK, I was -11. And I developed PVD and the vireous is pulling the retina at the 3 o'clock position. I am experiencing flash and floater. The doctor suggest a laser treatment at the 3 o'clock position of periphery of retina which is a weaken area due to the high myopia. Does it worth to do the surgery and any long-term complication after the surgery?
Avatar f tn ve had a successful Vitrectomy in my right eye to get rid of floaters and the loose vitreal bag. I do worry about low eye pressure later on in my life and that is keeping me from having a Vitrectomy in my left eye. The IOL implant in my left eye has made the floaters bigger and I have trouble seeing when in lights or bright sun. I also have the membrane that grows from left over cells that is making it difficult for me to see with both eyes.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you might have some hemosiderin staining--i.e., your skin has been stained by your blood. I had that problem following eye surgery. In some cases, this type of staining can be permanent--but don't worry, I have a solution for you. Google "candela laser" to find the company's website. You'll find a small-scale study in which the AlexTriVantage laser successfully removed "permanent" hemosiderin stains.
Avatar f tn Actually the PDR was diagnosed in 2001. Full laser treatment over the years. Eye hemorrhage in 2006 followed by a vitrectomy in the right eye. In 12/2007 a new vessel was seen in the left eye. In 2/08 more laser in the left eye. In 3/08 small hemorrhage in the left eye anyway, which cleared on it's own thankfully. In 6/08 more laser in the left eye to help vessels regress.
Avatar f tn Actually I've been to Asg eye hospital and was seen by an eye MD opthalmologist only?
Avatar m tn hi have you ever heard of transconjunctival blepharoplasty its a form of eye bag removal ,its lasers that remove excess fluid and fat.and no incisions are made.
Avatar f tn I was assulted 11 years ago which resulted in a black eye, the black eye has never really faded and ive also got bruising to the temple on the same side. How would i go about getting this treated?
Avatar f tn Do you mean that ALL laser spot will leave a blind spot in my eye sight post laser? In that case, my eye sight is pretty normal. After laser, i will have disadvantage of a blind spot in certain areas. The advantage is i would reduce my risk of retine detachment. 5. As a generalization laser treatment of lattice, holes, thin areas, tears is NOT ultra-serious and carries with no where near the risks of the eye having a retinal detachment. a.
