Avatar m tn Hello, Fusidic acid and minocycline are both antibiotics which are used for the treatment of acne. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar m tn I have acne scars and general poor skin from going on roaccutane for my acne. I want rid of the scars and just a general rejuvenation of skin but so far every doctor I've seen has told me something different.
Avatar f tn Hi, Acne scarring results when the visible remnants of acne are left on the skin after the acne itself subsides. The best way of treating acne scars is to start early. There are some treatments available for this condition. By using topical treatments prescribed by your dermatologists, such as biological acne scarring treatment where in the old, damaged tissues and scars are replaced by new cells.
Avatar m tn The Vbeam laser works in combination with the Cool Touch laser and with a substance called Levulan. While the Vbeam laser removes red from acne scar tissue, the Cool Touch laser tightens the skin from the inside out. But this requires more than two sittings to take effect. So you should follow up with your cosmetologist and get it done in multiple sittings.
Avatar n tn Take a look at my pictures to see how effective microdermabrasion and laser treatment can be at treating post-acne scars. You must wait 6 months after finishing Accutane treatment before having such procedures done because of the increased risk of scarring already fragilised skin. Oral retinoids can cause facial redness and it has only been 3 months since you finished Accutane. Use a good skincare regime for facial redness such as Clinique's Redness Solutions or Rosaliac by La Roche-Posay.

You have been given the correct treatment for acne and should follow your doctor’s advice. For the hair loss, laser treatment can be used but the diagnosis needs to be made first.
Avatar n tn Well I had one on my right lip on the border of my lip and skin, and it was pretty red and it was a white head. After a few days I got sick of it and popped it, and then washed my face and put some neosporin, so it wouldn't get infected, and now it's healing.
Avatar n tn 2 year evaluations have showed sebaceous destruction permanence. I have 2 relatives who have undergone this treatment and the results are truly amazing, their skin is oil (and acne) free! They don't even get black heads on the nose anymore. I'm thinking 5 procedures to substantially decrease sebum + a topical retinoid to normalize keratinization + an anti-inflammatory antibiotic to tackle all of the acne causes. I have an appointment to discuss this with my derm.
Avatar n tn Hello, The brown spots that you have are due to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation after acne. The treatment for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment but they should be used only under a dermatologist’s guidance. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar n tn I have had continuing problems with acne and cysts on my buttocks area for approximately 15 years. I have seen multiple physicians regarding the condition, however, all have either treated me only with antibiotics or considered it an allergic reaction of some sort, regardless, none of the treatments have worked. Recently I went to a new dermatologist who diagnosed me with Acne Inversa, however, he stated it was curable and prescribed me Accutane.
Avatar n tn If not, what else could I do to reduce the appearance of the red marks? The acne is on my chest and is very hard to look at. I live in Florida and it is very hot and I cannot take off my shirt with this look. It seems to not be fading at all. Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn I really did not have acne problems before this began. I have been using duac gel and it reallt has not gotten much better. I have been told that laser treatment would be a great choice. Avatar n tn sorry for bothering...i have one more question...I thought that the acne scars and this type of scars are very similar...that's why I wanted to do TCA peel... but now you say it isn't...so can you tell me something about this type of scarring...how deep damage is? cause...they seem pretty shallow to me...and all this time i was searching for something that helps with acne scarring (since they seem very similar to me) cause there is nothing about electrolysis scars... and...
Avatar n tn She had the treatments in May and her face is still, for the most part, clear of acne. And, it is drug free! If only we had known about the laser treatments before she became acutely ill from the Solodyn.
Avatar f tn ve been looking for articles regarding the use of accutane in patients with keloid/hypertrophic scarring, but all I can seem to find are horror stories of people taking accutane and going and having laser treatment/dermabrasion resulting in keloid formation. I would never do that to my skin during such a delicate time! I just want to know what to expect of my keloid prone skin *while taking* accutane. I can't find anything on the subject! My question is...

Avatar f tn I do too!! Exact same problem. I have pimples that itch on my back and chest. It's like after I cleaned my house I got bumps and itchy from dust bugs. I was cleaned after and my doctor helped me. But then a few months after, my skin itched and pimples formed. Now it's spreading on my body, I tried everything. The pimples then go away and comes right back. Did you get any answer? It would be helpful for me.

Avatar n tn If what I have is folliculitis and not acne, is the treatment different? Ive heard you talk about Hibiclens, could this help my face? Ive also thought about taking Zinc. I just need advice and I don't believe minocycline or differin is going to do the trick, I need something different because at age 26 I don't think I am dealing with a typical case of acne or whatever. I don't know any other guys my age with this problem.
Avatar n tn Therapeutic options include photodynamic therapy (with combined use of 5-aminolevulinic acid and visible light), cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen), cauterization, laser treatment (eg, with argon, carbon dioxide, or pulsed-dye laser) and excision.
