Avatar m tn Hello, There are many procedures of mole removal like by shave or deep elliptical excision, excision with cauterization (a tool is used to burn away the mole) and laser removal. Your dermatologist may choose excision with or without stitches, depending on the depth of the mole and the type of cosmetic outcome desired. Laser removal has less chances of leaving scars but it is also not without side effects. Discuss the details of these procedures with your dermatologist.

Avatar m tn Hello, Laser hair removal is for permanent removal of hair.It needs multiple sessions. Laser hair reduction works by targeting the hair follicle through the melanin in the hair. Melanin absorbs laser energy and transfers it down to the hair follicles, rendering them ineffective, thus stopping future hair growth. It is effective for all skin types and the most commonly noticed side effects are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to sunburn.
Avatar m tn The treatment requires close medical supervision by a dermatologist because the drug has many known side effects (many of which can be severe). About 25% of patients may relapse after one treatment. In those cases, a second treatment for another 4-6 months may be indicated to obtain desired results.

Avatar f tn Hello, These symptoms can be due to side effect of the pills. Moreover you should not take any medicine without prescription. You can prevent and treat acne by changing your lifestyle like eating proper diet, getting a good amount of sleep and drink at least eight glasses of water daily. You can also treat acne by cleaning your face regularly, using skincare products, apply antibacterial topical medications.

Avatar n tn Hello, Hyper and hypopigmentation are sometimes the undesirable side effects of laser treatment. Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color. Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Even acutane has been found to be effective. Be careful about its side effects like dry eyes, lips, blurring of vision etc.Wear only cotton clothes. Avoid sweating on the back and change clothes frequently. Take at least 2 showers a day. Avatar f tn Has anyone had their mirena out due to acne and weight gain? Did the side effects clear up after removal and if so how long did it take? I've had mine for 3 1/2 years and considering having it removed.
Avatar n tn I suggest that you get advice from a physician (in person) rather than an esthetician. It's possible that you have ingrown hairs. If you do, laser hair removal might help. If you tweeze or pulls at your hairs, you need to stop. If it is acne, there are many medications, oral or topical, to consider. I don't think you ought to decide in advance what will or won't do the trick. Take care. Dr.
Avatar f tn If you are a woman who has excess androgens, there are medications that can help stop the growth by correcting the hormonal excess. There probably are side effects but if they are usually minor for most people (if they weren't the drugs wouldn't be on the market). I don't think there is anything to make hair grow shorter permanently. If you are a man, and you have an excess of androgens, there are probably medications to bring your levels to normal level.
Avatar m tn Itchy bumps, pink skin, redness, and swelling around the treatment area or swelling of the follicles leading to follicular edema are few of the common side effects of E light hair removal. These side effects usually last for two or three days .You may try icing the area after the treatment as it helps relieve the side effects faster. Since exposure to sun can further worsen the rash it is best to seek the opinion of a dermatologist. I do hope it helps. Take care and regards!
