Laryngitis virus infection

Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis virus infection

laryngitis

Avatar f tn It is inflammation of the larynx (voice box). It is mainly caused by virus and treatment depends on type of virus affected. Even serological tests will help to identify the responsible pathogens. It can be treated with appropriate anti viral. But drinking lot of fluids, sucking lozenges, gargle with salt water, breathing moist air to soothe sore throat, refraining from taking decongestants (because they dry your throat), resting your larynx will help you.
Avatar f tn s from an infection then you need to try to flush that infection out. I will get laryngitis also from constantly trying to clear my throat as well. Not sure of your situation but I hope it clears soon cuz I know it can be brutal!!
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar f tn You may not have CFS, but you have a successive infection and need help getting over this infection. For a list of physicians who frequently diagnose and treat CFS in your area.... google, "Co Cure's Good Doctor List". Keep me posted, okay ?
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar n tn Acute pharyngitis and laryngitis is the commonest cause of loss of voice due to infection and inflammation of the voice box and throat. This active infection, coughing, and clearing throat can often result in break in small blood vessels. Usually these heal with treatment of laryngitis which involves antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic drugs along with maybe decongestants, warm saline gargles and throat elixirs.
Avatar m tn Will Herpes Laryngitis/Pharyngitis cause no sores in the mouth, tounge or lips? Is this some kind of bacterial infection or viral infection? Any suggestions highly appreciated. I took an appointment for next week with my ENT.I see the transmission rate of 4% with unprotected sex from female to male with HSV1 genitally. I have also attached the pic for skin rash that occured on my skin.
Avatar m tn Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours. Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation. A detailed clinical examination and tests can help in determining the cause. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar n tn I wnet to a Doctor before getting on my return flight and he said he thought I had laryngitis likely caused by a viral infection. Therefore, he did not prescribe antibiotics. It has been about 9 days since the sexual encounter and I am wondering what my risk factors are. Could the oral sex have exposed me to an STD taht would cause a sore throat and laryngitis? If so, which STD would be most likely?
Avatar f tn One ounce of Magnesium Chloride flakes (Pharmaceutical grade) per one liter of spring water, sipped very slowly throughout the entire day. Repeat for 3-4 days. Your symptoms indicate a viral or bacterial infection and are consistent with bronchiestasis. If it is viral, no medicine can help, once the virus has replicated. If bacterial, amoxicillin is the antibiotic of choice for bronchiectasis. You may want to consider Breathing Exercises for Bronchiectasis.
Avatar f tn It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn First off I just want to say I don't know where I to post this but this is the close one I can find to mine or maybe not the same at all sorry! Hey my name is Louis I'm 19. Avatar n tn It is usually not the drug of choice for UTI but is mostly used in otitis media (infection of the middle ear), tonsillitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
572651 tn?1530999357 s seasonal influenza vaccine contains three strains of flu virus delivered via a live virus nasal spray or an inactivated virus injection. The 2012-2013 vaccine (for N. Avatar m tn I recently got this fever which I know is a clear sign so I got super scared, but it turned out to be a streptoccocal infection (pus is very clear on tonsils), also it was very responsive to antibiotics and the fever came down. I know I can only be sure when I get tested but I get panic attacks a lot and I confuse things easily... is it possible that the acute HIV infection happened simultaneously with the strep infection?
Avatar m tn they are much more likely to have something else, usually some other, more typical virus infection. When this has been studied in the US, less than 1% of persons seeking medical care for "ARS symptoms" are found to have HIV, the remainder having symptoms due to other processes. In contrast, over a given year, there is almost no one who has not had a viral illness, night sweats or both (sometimes on multiple occasions).
Avatar n tn You mention only throat (and that's more than enough), not nose/sinus. Do you also have nasal blockage? This isn't leading me to a conclusion but the information may be helpful to those reading. I frequent this Community because of a chronic nasal congestion problem, mainly when lying down, trying to sleep. So I can empathize with the panic caused by not getting enough air. Is your condition affected by you body's position, sitting, standing, lying down?
Avatar f tn Now I have post nasal drip and my laryngitis is still there although getting better. I have done everything for the laryngitis, steam, cool mist humidifier, room temperature water (about twelve 8oz glasses a day), resting my voice. It is getting better very slowly. Now I have a post nasal drip and I am coughing up greenish/yellowish sputum but it's from the back of my throat not my lungs anymore. I am going to try a nasal rinse today.
Avatar f tn ad endoscopyseveral months afo and was negative for GERD. The pulmonologist said it was laringer spasms and a viral infection in vocal cords. Hospitalized for 3 weeks. Home on 20 days of oral steroids, flovent and nebulizer treatments. I am not feeling better. The coughng and the raspy, hoarse voice is still there and the gasping for air and choking continues but has gotten a little better.
Avatar f tn d likely just assume it was pharyngitis or laryngitis or something related to a standard immune response to a bacteria or virus. Yes, I've experienced it many times, mostly in childhood. I think most of us have. And it always went away. Of course, with MS, swallowing difficulties are of concern, but with the accompanying soreness, it doesn't sound like its related to a neurological issue.
Avatar n tn As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
Avatar m tn I know that regular gonorrhea in the genitals does not always show symptoms, but I was wondering about gonorrhea in the throat? It seems to me like a throat infection would be different, because as far as I know, any bacteria in the throat wouldn't be considered an infection if it wasn't giving you symptoms, such as a sore throat.
Avatar m tn Was what I experienced in August-September ARS concurrent with bacterial laryngitis, or was this just a bacterial infection of the throat and I'm now letting fear and anxiety cause all these symptoms? Getting really scared here.
Avatar n tn I called my doctor, who changed me to Azithromycin. My laryngitis is better. Most of the sore throat is gone. However, I still have sore swollen glands, and I still have a large white pocket in my throat (Next to my Faucial Pillars). Is this typical? How long should I give it for the white patch and gland stuff to go away?
Avatar f tn My father has been on antibiotics for rather a long period of times (90 different types of antibiotics in about 2 months in succession for a flu that led both to sinus infections and laryngitis that didn't easily go away. He's now off antibiotics and feels generally OK except for bloating, heartburn and fresh bright blood in his stool :( Can that be serious considering the huge number of antibiotics he has taken?
Avatar m tn I was circumcised but I did got involved it Anal and Vaginal sex without any protection. But for many years I did not face any kind of health issue but recently I got laryngitis and it lasted for about a month! Now I'm getting worried that I might have got infected HIV from her. She was a single women and I'm sure she might have been with lot of men.
