Laryngitis uvula

Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis uvula

laryngitis

Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar m tn I visited my ENT today, and he told me the only thing he could do for my long uvula is to have it surgically shortened/removed. Also he said that at the time my uvula did not appear swollen BUT that it was really long. The actual QUESTIONS would be... 1) can a swollen uvula be a symptom of mono. 2) is it more likely that my tongue is swollen causing me to have the same sensation of my uvula being longer.
Avatar m tn I’m on my 10th day post op but the uvula has been about half inch off from the center amd swollen from day 1 and it’s remained that way ever since despite all the scabs having fallen off already and otherwise little pain by now. I also saw small scab in the base of the uvula indicating that they have cut into it during surgery, perhaps accidentally. I can’t swallow properly due to the deviation and swelling.
Avatar n tn I'm not saying difficulty swallowing as in the uvula itself is blocking things, but my throat is. I've had difficulty swallowing for about 2 months. Did blood tests which were fine, x-ray that showed nothing and acid reflux meds that did nothing. Other symptoms are that I felt something in my throat sometimes, which I've now found out was the uvula, and ear pain sometimes. I'm going to an ENT for an endoscopy or barium swallow in 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn When I was flossing my back teeth last week, I noticed some small bumps on my uvula. There is one on either side of my uvula where it joins the roof of my mouth, and then increasingly small ones go down the front of the uvula in a sort of a V-shape. They are 100% painless, although they may be slightly red (not sure if it's just normal inside-of-the-mouth red or not).
Avatar f tn I had my tonsils removed over 2 weeks ago and well my uvula is still swollen and I am not able to eat much. I wish I can fast forward 2 months in the future to get the swelling down. I so understand your position though. What I have heard from others is that it can take months for the uvula to get back into proper psition. Hang in there. All the best. If you are still uncertain then maybe see the ENT who did the surgery to explain things.
Avatar f tn I have bumps in my throat behind my uvula, my uvula seems a little red as does the palate around it. Both sides of my throat by the uvula are swollen and I don't know if my tonsils are swollen or not but it looks as if so. There is a bit of white patches on both sides of throat by uvula. Also my tongue is always dry! I don't know exactly what's wrong. Anyone have any idea?
Avatar f tn Last week on monday I felt light headed and dizzy ended up with a fever for 2 days. That thursday I felt I had strep, with the fever and sore throat seeming so familiar; I went to my Dr. To check it out. No strep, but the next day my uvula swelled up so bad I felt I couldn't breathe. Spent the whole day gargling salt, eating garlic clothes, spoons of honey and tumeric. Didn't sleep till 6 am Saturday when I couldn't stand being up anymore.
Avatar n tn s the picture of health. He does have what appears to me to be an elongated uvula (drags the back of his tongue) but he says it feels like he has something in the back of his throat that needs coughed up. Nothing ever does come up and he has no nasal drip. I've looked at his throat and everything looks good. Nothing swollen. Could this just be from his uvula? Should I take him to an ENT? Our doctor just brushed it off last time I mentioned it.
Avatar f tn The roof of my mouth is white, and the uvula is swollen and almost touching the back of my tongue. I feel like I should keep swallowing. Never happened before. No new foods, meds, etc.
Avatar m tn This continued for a while the doctor wasnt concerned and said it should sort itself out, it didnt recently my uvula has swollen and it is touching the back of my tongue.
Avatar n tn I have read so many forums on home remedies most say wait it out, until I had the uvula swell I was fine with that. Most of the forums that talk about the uvula swelling contribute it to drinking alcholol, but I dont drink. They also say see a DR. if it lasts more than 2 days, but reply that the DR. just gave them prednisone which I can get. Please someone help, Going crazy worring about it all..
Avatar f tn Behind where my tonsils used to be is something like a skin flap, but on one side it goes down from the very base of the uvula, but on the other side, it goes down from a bit lower, about half way down from the back of the uvula, so the opening to my throat/distance from skin to uvula is almost twice as big on the one side, and the uvula is being pulled to the other side by that bigger skin flap. Why is that happening? Did the doctors cut more skin on one side?
Avatar n tn As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
Avatar n tn My 1 1/2 yr old son has a cyst attached to his uvula. His pediatrician has never seen this before and the specialist is giving it 3 weeks or they will consider removing it. Does anyone have any further information about a situation like this or a previous experience?
Avatar f tn After weeks and weeks of enduring a sore throat (some virus?) I looked in my mouth and there was a small "tag" on my uvula. A few weeks have gone by and the sore throat is gone but the growth on my uvula is a little bigger. In color it looks similar to the uvula itself, it's just an extention -of sorts- on one side of it hanging down. I am one who worries a lot when it comes to medical issues, and I'm already panicking about surgery (I fear general anesthesia).
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
1712590 tn?1352392772 My uvula swells and I get bumps on back of throat and redness. What can cause this? I am afraid one day I won't be able to breathe. I take Benadryl or diphehydramine when mine swells because that is what the ER pumped through me when my uvula swelled the first time. I am still having it swell 5 times in 3 years. This last time was not a allergic reaction to meds.
Avatar m tn What you are describing sounds like the Uvula. This is a normal structure of the mouth. It dangles for the top at the back of the mouth.Occasionally the Uvula may enlarge temporarily due to a viral infection or other irritant. The Uvula can curl upward due to touching the tongue. This may appear as if it is radiating from the bottom behind the tongue. If your daughter continues to have discomfort, develops a fever etc. , please consult your physician.
Avatar n tn It has been two weeks since the symptoms started and the pain is now gone but the swelling is still going on back there in the left of the roof of my mouth, still a little tender to touch and now my uvula is swollen and it feels like I have something constantly stuck in my throat. I doubt we will work out what it is before it goes away but I just wanted to let you know that if I find out anything I will let you know, as it seems we are both suffering with the same thing.
Avatar m tn I had an outpatient gyn procedure done 4 days ago with post procedure mouth, uvula, and throat soreness. By the evening, my uvula was so long and red, it was gagging me. The area of the throat directly behind the uvula and the right tonsillar pillar was red and sore. Slowly, over the past few days, the uvula has shortened, but still rests on my tongue. The lower third of it is now grayish-white.
Avatar n tn At first, I felt the pain of my uvula so I was to doctor and after endoscopic observation, he said everything is okay. But now my uvula is okay most of the time but when I play or try to breathe out air with pressure there appeared to bump on my neck and after longer playing it is also painful. When I don't play for a while it is almost okay. I did a little bit of research what could it be and I ended up with these possibilities: pharyngocele or laryngocele.
1554235 tn?1294328267 oh sorry ... of course about uvula i knw it. uvula hangs from the roof of the soft palate, but the structure i saw was from beneth, to be exact comes inside from the oseophagus. just behind the tongue. like a small tongue. i was worried about that structure. please could u explain that.....
Avatar n tn I have told doctors about this and one doctor said about the post nasal drip causing it and the other said I had a hyperactive gag reflex and I just have to live with it. What it feels like is that my uvula gets irritated somehow and it stimulates the reflex for no reason.
Avatar n tn It is horizontally center with the uvula but vertically underneath it. It would appear to be like some kind of mass, rather than an ulcer on the back/wall of my mouth as shining a light against it produces a shadow. It also appears to have blood vessels. In the past couple days I have noticed a slight pain when I swallow and can feel something back there.
