laryngitis

Hi, transient loss of voice and hoarse voice are the typical symptoms of laryngitis. It is inflammation of the larynx (voice box). It is mainly caused by virus and treatment depends on type of virus affected. Even serological tests will help to identify the responsible pathogens. It can be treated with appropriate anti viral.
After about a month, I went to see my PCP which told me I had bronchitis and laryngitis. She put me on Amoxicilian, Claritin, tessalon pearl (for the cough) and albuterol inhaler. After finishing all my antibiotic, continuing claritin, tessalon pearl (as needed) and inhaler, I started to feel better. Once again, the cough is back, runny nose, and no voice. Will I EVER talk again? Have I done too much damage to recover from this? And why do I continue to get sick? PLEASE HELP!
I tend to get a minor cold three or four times a year. About three or four days later I will develop bronchitis, followed by a laryngitis and perhaps a minor sore throat. I will have coughing spasms in which I gag and cough for several minutes, at times spitting up yellow mucus. Incontinence is common during these coughing spells. I have no trouble breathing; I am a non-smoker. But the major symptom is extreme fatigue.
I recently got a teaching job, and from day one of talking I've felt extreme throat pain. My ENT confirmed I have Reflux Laryngitis, and ramped up my meds. I was taking Nexium, and keeping weight under control. Now she added Zantac and some allergy meds for my post nasal drip. Has anyone had a job that they talk all day, and due to the GERD had severe throat pain and/or Laryngitis? How long did it last? Did you eventually have to quit your job so that you didn't have to talk as much?
For 9 months now I have had a recurrent dry cough leading to laryngitis. I have recently developed a lot of phlegm coming up in morning only and some post nasal drip. I have had PFT(normal), chest CTSCAN (normal), Gastroscopy (normal). I have been diagnosed with GERD, Tracheitis, virus. I am going out of my mind. These problems started when I inherited 2 cats, but blood test revealed no allergy to cats.
In December '08 I started getting pimples on my scalp and face. In Febuary I got a bought of laryngitis which went away within a week. During this time I have been having a lot of acidity in my stomach which I think is contributing to a sore throat that I have. There is a small amount of phelagm present in my throat at all times (which is clear). I cough occasionally and this has been going on for the last 3 months.
GP and this L.P.R. ????? Please help if you have any input.
temp fluctuation from 97.5 - 99.2, chills, body aches, overwhelming fatigue, wheezing (treated daily with asthmanex), on and off again for a variety of left-sided body discomfort: underarm aches, upper arm ache, hand weakness, inner ear ache or numbness, tinnitus, facial numbness, headaches, twitches in upper eyelid. I also experience breathlessness after simple activities, have a dry cough occasionally, and have anxiety (exhibited in the fact that my teeth are always clenched).
I look around and found that these may be signs of LPR and acid reflux, so I talked to my doctor about it and was prescribed a PPI to help deal with the acid. I've been taking it for about a month now, but there are other symptoms that are starting to worry me, at times my head will start feeling really thick, like there's a lot of pressure around my brain, and my neck feels uncomfortable a lot, as well as my lower spine.
The past 6 mths I have experienced vertigo, tinnitus, horrible headaches, numbness in lips, hands, feet, occasional laryngitis, EXTREME fatique, muscle weakness, chest pain and heart palpatations. After months of various dr.s a nodule was inadverently discovered on my thyroid. FNA #1 non-diagnostic, FNA #2 non-diagnostic. In the month between them the size has grown from 2.9 cm to 4.6 cm diameter. All my thyroid blood work shows normal levels (I was never told what the numbers where).
However, I did not need the medicine because I was not hypothyroid. I am currently having some weird symptoms and I'd love some help in deciding if it sounds like I am not hypothyroid. here is what I have: 1) dizziness (feels like I am lightheaded, not vertigo) 2) tingling in my feel and hands (a while back i had pretty bad tingling that went away and now it's just here mildly) Can anyone tell me if this is typical of hypothyroid?
So paranoid checked and saw that laryngitis is a symptom of HIV? So I ended up in the emergency again. I have no other symptoms asides from this.., Can you please help and let me know what are the chances of my test turning positive? Can the 3rd generation test at six weeks be reliable?
Hi The symptoms appear to be more in favor of laryngitis or voice box infection. You can try warm saline gargles. You must consult an ENT specialist for this. Voice rest, plenty of hot fluids like warm lemonade, soups etc and a course of antibiotic and anti-inflammatories should help. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
I have recurrent cold symptoms during my period. I have noticed the symptoms for about a year but for the last six months they have happened every month around the third day of my period. Symptoms include aching joints, blocked nose and headaches as well as generally feeling awful. Periods are heavy and painful with clotting for about seven-nine days. Cold Symptoms usually last 5-7days.
herpes symptoms wouldn't remain unchanged for 2 months. follow up with your provider for your symptoms. since you have a partner to protect, indeed you should be seeking out testing for syphilis and herpes at the proper times.
I'm freaking out. Three weeks post exposure described above - had cold/sick symptoms, light fever with sweats, sinusitis and laryngitis, all perfect ars timing, and followed by this buring urination on the tip and slight clear discharge. Have had UTI in past and was wearing lots of used tight underwear due to location, situation. Thought it was that at the time.
I was bit feverish while having laryngitis I had another set of 4 protected vag, 3 protected BJs, & 1 unprotected BJ (the last one). No condom break.
Inflammation of the sinuses could be due to an allergy, an infection, or ongoing exposure to an irritant, such as pollution or smoke.
To tell you to just stop worrying would be rediculous on my part, this is much easier said than done. Often we need help with things, and you need help in learning how not to obcess over your parents. Speaking to your parents would be helpful for all of you. They have no idea the magnitude of your problem, but they love you and want what is best for you.
I saw a NP and he told me that is was most likely due to the viral laryngitis. He gave me a 3 day (2x day) course of Cipro, why? It did not help, but after a week of pain the UTI finally went away. However, just a precaution my pcp referred me to see the urologist (scheduled on 8/18/2008) As a result of this whole ordeal, I have become very vigilant of my genital area. I started examining my penis with a very bright lamp.
Hi, This is my first post. I am an otherwise healthy 32 year old male, but frustrated by this recent baffling problem. For the last 2-3 weeks, I've had mild sinus congestion & pressure, along with strange "flu-like" body aches, weakness & fatigue. I have no fever or night sweats, and nasal mucous is clear. I do get a lot of allergies, but never these "flu-like" symptoms.
It sounds like you could have serious acid reflux issues with some of your symptoms, but with your asthma you should have that checked out by a dr. Feel better.
There are many things besides GERD which cause your symptoms. In fact, most pts with GERD do not have the type of abdominal pain you describe. Pain that radiates to the back should be further evaluated by your physician and the laboratory tests suggested above and then some are essential. There are also vascular disorders relating to the large blood vessels in the abdomen that can produce similar symptoms. The more advanced your age, the more of a possibility that is.
Please someone help me, I am a 40y female who has been healthy my entire life. Back in April '09 I had severve laryngitis.
