Laryngitis risk factors

Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis risk factors

laryngitis

Avatar n tn It has been about 9 days since the sexual encounter and I am wondering what my risk factors are. Could the oral sex have exposed me to an STD taht would cause a sore throat and laryngitis? If so, which STD would be most likely? Finally, although condoms are no guarantee for protection, what are my statistical chances of contracting and STD and which ones should I most be concerned about considering the protected intercourse combined with the unprotected oral sex? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I am a married male and last year, I had an encounter with another man, I gave him oral sex using a condom. I know that this make for a virtually nil risk, but I had a couple of complicating factors. One, is that the condom kept riding up and I kept having to push it back down. As a result, I am not sure if I was exposed to his semen when he ejaculated (from the bottom of the condom).
Avatar f tn I read a comment that said there are risk factors that may play a role in one having MS and that a prior infectious trigger is one. I've ALWAYS been a magnet for UNUSAL diseases. scarlet fever, immuno-thrombocytopenia , chicken pox (2x). Could any of these have led to RRMS? Thanks for any light on this.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering what some of the causes were and if you perhaps were told of risk factors that could lead to not carrying to full term. I am sorry for your loss if you have experienced it, I know very well what a shock and emptiness it can leave and it changes you forever. Hope you can give advice so many women can be more informed.
Avatar n tn the chance your partner had HIV and the statistical likelihood of transmission based on the details of the sexual exposure. It is estimated that about 1% of the Dominican Republic population is HIV positive, which is substantially higher than in the US as a whole, but not much different than among African Americans in the US. The overall HIV/AIDS rate in DR is not as high as in the Bahamas or Haiti, and not nearly as high as in sub-Saharan Africa.
Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar m tn Ive looked up laryngitis because that friday and saturday night i did drink alot of alcohol.
Avatar n tn As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar n tn If a patient complains of a sudden cough with gag reflex along with decreased hearing and ringing in the ears, vocal chord paralysis, laryngitis, night sweats. (Patient has a history and previous diagnosis of Smouldering Multiple Myeloma High risk.) CT Scan with contrast reveals a 6 mm Basilar Artery Aneurysm, forward to Neurosurgeon, NS says no link between present symptoms and aneurysm. Forward to ENT. ENT say use Flonaise, irritants/allergens most likely cause of present symptoms.
Avatar m tn rash associated with ARS. By the evening I had developed laryngitis and basically lost my voice, or most of it anyway and coughing up wads of phlegm, really bad int he morning. It was like this for about a week. My lymph nodes weren't swollen, or at least not that I could feel. I did notice that the sore throat started to rotate. First it would be on the right side then the left side, Sometimes it would be upper left, then lower left and vice versa. Like I said weird.
Avatar n tn The tenth day tonsil inflammation (no treatment, self-healing) for seven days, 16 days, anorexia, diarrhea, 19 days revealed an enlarged left sternocleidomastoid, day 20 acute rhinitis attack (cold), 22 days of onset of acute laryngitis () a dry throat, cough, take medicine two days better, and the joint pain (off and on for nearly four months). Now the fear and anxiety have seriously affected my life, what I should do, has not been tested. Looking forward to your reply, thank you!
Avatar n tn hi , i want to ask again , if i have laryngitis, and i might ate some precum, is there still no risk at all ?
Avatar n tn Hello, In some patients, acid can reflux into the throat causing inflammation of the back of the throat which can lead to pharyngitis, or into the vocal cords, which can lead to laryngitis and hoarseness. Although there are many other causes for sore throat and laryngitis, GERD should be suspected in a patient with chronic sore throat or other GERD symptoms or when no other cause can be found.
Avatar n tn I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. I have done allergy testing, tests to rule out relfux, seen ENT, pulmonlogist, & family dr multiple times with not much success. No one can tell me why I got better last time, or why I am dealing with the same situation again.
