Avatar f tn Hi, I went to ent the other day he used a camera to check my throat hes sent me for ultrasound scan and a CT scan due to a suspicious lump he says he thinks its an abcess or ulcer but couldnt see how big it was, now curious if it is an abcess or ulcer how on earth can it be removed as I have a few of them and antibiotics have never cleared them ?
Avatar f tn It all started a few weeks back with laryngitis and post nasal drip. I started to get my voice back and then I got a severe sore throat and it hurt to swallow and felt like my throat was swollen and it also felt like I had blisters on the back of my throat. My doctor told me to take regular mucinex to help with the pnd and to call back if it didn't get any better. After that was when my throat started hurting really bad.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Strep Throat about 2 weeks ago. I went one week taking Amoxicillin 3 times a day. By the next Monday, I was worse. I called my doctor, who changed me to Azithromycin. My laryngitis is better. Most of the sore throat is gone. However, I still have sore swollen glands, and I still have a large white pocket in my throat (Next to my Faucial Pillars). Is this typical? How long should I give it for the white patch and gland stuff to go away?
Avatar m tn I had a unprotected sex about 3 and half weeks back with an unknown Girl for about 5 mins. Next day I got mouth infection ( just soar throat no fever no flu symptoms) and doctor (ENT) suggested some antibiotics, after which I was feeling OK in a day. I thought it was a strep and asked for a swab test. Couple days later doctor confirmed its nothing. I had tonsillitis (swollen tonsils) before I had sex with her.
Avatar f tn The only problem is that I keep coming down with either strep throat, pharyngitis, laryngitis or the h flu every other month. I just recently came down with strep throat again and I'm wondering if there is anything that I can to to prevent getting sick. It as if I get it as soon as someone with as much as a cold walks by! Help! I'm tired of being sick and I know that being on antibiotics this much is not good!
Avatar m tn Does this look like Herpes Esophagitis or something along those lines? Or is this merely inflammation from general illness? Something else? I am on day 7 and the cough has considerably eased into a milder dry cough with discomfort in the throat but a headache persists and the prominence of these spots on my throat is concerning.
Avatar f tn Three weeks after, I had a panic attack and ended up at the emergency where the Dr, did a swap for Strep throat- which was negative. Then sent me to an ENT specialist. Who stated I have acute laryngitis. I have had a sore throat now going on 4 weeks... So paranoid checked and saw that laryngitis is a symptom of HIV? So I ended up in the emergency again. I have no other symptoms asides from this.., Can you please help and let me know what are the chances of my test turning positive?
Avatar f tn this past year ive been havin sore throats and a bunch of times wen my voice disappeared. but anyways does anyone know if wat i have right now is strep or mono or just a cold. i will list the symptoms -sore throat -red swollen throat -difficulty and pain with swallowing -fever -tiredness and fatigue -headache(sometimes at the same time my throat is hurting) i have tried tylenol, throat spray, and cough drops. does anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Hi, I have had a long history or respiratory alements. I was always sick. I was finally diagnosed with having asthma. Once I was on my daily inhaler I noticed that I wasn't getting sick as often until about 3 weeks ago I started to get a cold that turned into what I thought was laryngitis pretty much right away. Now I have been without a voice for almost 3 weeks. It hurts to try and talk and my throat feels really swollen. It also feels like my neck is bruised on the left side.
Avatar f tn The pain seems to get worse in the evening or in cold temperatures. It hurts to talk also. No one that has been around me has gotten a sore throat so it makes me feel like it is not strep throat. I want to go to the doctor if it's necessary but I keep waiting to ride it out and hope it goes away so I don't have to pay for a medical bill. Is it common to have a sore throat for so long without having something more seriously wrong?
Avatar n tn This could be a number of things such as laryngitis, pharyngitis, sinus drainage, tonsilitis or strep throat. If the problem persists or becomes worse, you should consult your physician.
Avatar f tn I get laryngitis after bouts of sinus infections or colds. I think it comes about from the infectious post nasal drip that constantly runs down my throat. It gets pretty terrible. The last time I had it was for 2 weeks or so. You really need to rest, drink plenty of fluids. If it's from an infection then you need to try to flush that infection out. I will get laryngitis also from constantly trying to clear my throat as well.
Avatar n tn He saw that my vocal chords are swollen which has caused what I thought was laryngitis but it had gone on far too long for that. He referred me to an ENT for the vocal chords. My problems actually started with a bout of strep throat. After a couple rounds of antibiotics, I developed oral thrush. Then it was pneumonia. I've had almost 4mo of pure H!!! I hope an expert will hop on here and help you out.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.

Avatar m tn I am 35 year old male.Let me start from beginning.Back in May went to Clinic because of pain in my testicle. After speaking to doctor and telling him I had unprotected Anal sex with girl I started feeling pains. He tested me and said I must of got bacteria thru my eurethra.Tested for Chlam. & Gonorrrea and Strep throat and was cleared.I believed he said it was Urethritis. He gave me Zythromax and Cipro.Everything seemed to be fine after that.
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar n tn As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
Avatar m tn Hello, For the past two months, I get a feeling of a lump in my throat that comes and goes. It first appeared after taking antibiotics for a strep throat. It felt like there was a golf ball in my throat for 3 days. Then it went away. But every few days it would come back. Now it seems to come and go. It could be really bad for a few hours then it might not bother me for a day or two. It seems like if I take my mind off it by something distracting, it completely disappears.
Avatar n tn I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. I have done allergy testing, tests to rule out relfux, seen ENT, pulmonlogist, & family dr multiple times with not much success. No one can tell me why I got better last time, or why I am dealing with the same situation again.
Avatar n tn I went to my health department at school the next day and had them do a throat culture to check for strep or an STD. The first test came back negative for strep but they said that was most likely because I had had a couple doses of amox. I also asked my bf if he had strep recently and he said he hasn't been sick in years. The only person I've been around who had strep was a girl on our floor who had it a month ago.
Avatar n tn I wnet to a Doctor before getting on my return flight and he said he thought I had laryngitis likely caused by a viral infection. Therefore, he did not prescribe antibiotics. It has been about 9 days since the sexual encounter and I am wondering what my risk factors are. Could the oral sex have exposed me to an STD taht would cause a sore throat and laryngitis? If so, which STD would be most likely?
Avatar m tn He said that ars lasts up to two weeks and two months was way to long for symptoms. He did a complete blood count and tested for strep anti bodies. the cbc came back normal but the strep test showed anti bodies. I am now scared the maybe the strep test showed hiv anti bodies. these are my questions 1) is everything the doctors said correct? 2) IS my strep concern valid? 3) do I have some mental issues?
