Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar n tn Although there are many other causes for sore throat and laryngitis, GERD should be suspected in a patient with chronic sore throat or other GERD symptoms or when no other cause can be found. Severe, long-standing GERD can damage the esophagus and cause a condition known as Barrett's esophagus wherein the normal lining of the esophagus is replaced by a lining more like that of the stomach or intestine.
Avatar f tn My 82-year old Dad, who is in good health, has been getting very hoarse in his throat for going on a year now. His voice isn't too bad in the a.m., but around 12:00, he starts getting hoarse. By nighttime, you can't even understand him. He says nothing hurts him, it's just he can't speak. Can you help me with this This discussion is related to throat/hoarseness symptoms 6weeks and counting.
Avatar m tn ve been able to speak, but I get pain in the left side of my throat and my ear when I talk for more than a minute. In general, I feel discomfort/a small lump in my throat when I swallow which is really what hurts. My voice sounds totally normal, though. A doctor gave me a 3 day course of prednisone which helped a lot (I was able to talk with no pain; I thought that I'd healed completely) but since then I've gone back to being in pain when I talk for too long.
Avatar f tn After one month I went to an ENT and he said it was acute laryngitis. My voice has almost returned to normal but there is a connstant tightness in my throat. If I cough the tightness goes away for a short time. It's very obvious when I try to talk. I get choked by the tightness and cough. Sometimes even after I cough I have trouble talking because of the tightness in my throat.
Avatar m tn A couple of weeks ago I realized that i was having trouble hitting higher pitches when I was talking. It also feels like theirs something in my throat. I cant sing anymore except in a lower tone without going up. I find my self running short on breath as I talk at times. Im not in pain, just curious about whats going one.
Avatar n tn ve been having a tight feeling in my chest, and a feeling of a lump in my throat. Which I assume is not actually there. It feels as though my throat has been swollen. Since I had eaten an hour before this first happened I assumed it was some sort of heartburn (Even though my heartburn is never accompanied by anything like this.), but 5 hours went by and the feeling was still there. It got a little better, and I was able to go to sleep.
Avatar n tn When using inhaled corticosteroids, some of the drug may deposit in your mouth and throat and cause laryngitis. This can cause coughing, hoarseness, dry mouth and sore throat. Gargling and rinsing the mouth after each puff on your corticosteroid inhaler, may help to prevent mouth and throat irritation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn s from an infection then you need to try to flush that infection out. I will get laryngitis also from constantly trying to clear my throat as well. Not sure of your situation but I hope it clears soon cuz I know it can be brutal!!
Avatar f tn But drinking lot of fluids, sucking lozenges, gargle with salt water, breathing moist air to soothe sore throat, refraining from taking decongestants (because they dry your throat), resting your larynx will help you. Antibiotics and anti inflammatory against prescription will help you. I suggest you to consult ENT specialist. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn This active infection, coughing, and clearing throat can often result in break in small blood vessels. Usually these heal with treatment of laryngitis which involves antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic drugs along with maybe decongestants, warm saline gargles and throat elixirs. Nervous system disorders, tumors of larynx, bony and other tumors compressing the larynx can all cause loss of voice. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Avatar f tn I can talk but I can feel the pain in the lower part of my neck. I can’t feel any lump on my neck, but I am having hard time swallowing. After a week, the back of my ear starts to ache and now I can feel the pain inside my ear, even though the pain is tolerable I’m afraid that this is more than sore throat. Every time I try to speak the lower part of my neck is getting heavier. There are no rashes or ulcers neither in my mouth nor on my tonsils.
Avatar f tn I had a bad cold and then got laryngitis. That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??
Avatar m tn t have any symptoms except difficulty in swallowing and discomfort in my throat. I feel like something is struck in my throat 70% of the time. I feel like soar throat if I shout loudly. I am fearing if I would have been infected with HSV1. Will this be Herpes Laryngittis/ pharyngitis? will viral Laryngitis/Pharyngitis get relief from antibiotics as I was feeling well in a day after I took them. Will Herpes Laryngitis/Pharyngitis cause no sores in the mouth, tounge or lips?
Avatar n tn The only thing I can think of is maybe researching a bit in vocal chord dysfunction? I know it can be similar to asthma in symptoms, ie cough and can come in attacks. It also isn't at the top of the ENT's mind so it probably gets missed unless you are in an attack when checking. Make sure they are doing full pulmonary function tests, laproscopy of your sinuses and throat. Those will make sure there isn't any infections or anything that is bugging your throat.
Avatar f tn I tried looking at my throat in the mirror and noticed something at the back of my throat that I’ve never seen before in my life. I looked it up and I guess that my epiglottis is also raised. I still had neck tightness n the popping but I did regain my voice. I made the mistake of taking that as a sign that I was good to start singing again. Later on that night my voice was nearly gone/completely hoarse it even hurt to speak. Its been a week now and I still haven’t gotten my voice back.
Avatar f tn It also sounds different because of the laryngitis, a "nasty" cough, inability to go out in cold or humid weather and that she states the ability to breath is getting "even harder." If the weight loss was unintentional, then she definitely needs to see her doctor immediately.
Avatar f tn My sore throat went away but the lump is still there. Sometimes I have pain in my throat near the lump but it only lasts a second and then goes away. It's on the right side of my face, nothing on the left. Should I be alarms or does it just sound like swollen lymph node?? Help!!
Avatar m tn Hello I was wondering if its normal to have dark red veins on the back of throat? I have no symptoms, but I did have acute laryngitis two months ago. Ever since then I had no symptoms, but I still feel skeptical when I see those veins on the back of my throat, so should I be worried?
