Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis in a dog

laryngitis

Avatar f tn It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn After one month I went to an ENT and he said it was acute laryngitis. My voice has almost returned to normal but there is a connstant tightness in my throat. If I cough the tightness goes away for a short time. It's very obvious when I try to talk. I get choked by the tightness and cough. Sometimes even after I cough I have trouble talking because of the tightness in my throat.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar n tn I have been suffering from laryngitis for over 3 months and taking medication for the last 2 months. When I consulted a doctor a couple of weeks ago, he did a stroboscopy and said that it could be due to acid reflux; he prescribed "Pantadoc". I took that for a couple of weeks and did not obsserve any difference.
Avatar n tn the docter said ive poped a blood vessel in my throat, now ive lost my voice, why is this?
Avatar f tn I had a partial thyroidectomy nine months ago, needed to remove a large tumor and thankfully it was non-cancerous. The surgery and recovery went smoothly, nothing out of the ordinary. However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery?
Avatar n tn The only thing I can think of is maybe researching a bit in vocal chord dysfunction? I know it can be similar to asthma in symptoms, ie cough and can come in attacks. It also isn't at the top of the ENT's mind so it probably gets missed unless you are in an attack when checking. Make sure they are doing full pulmonary function tests, laproscopy of your sinuses and throat. Those will make sure there isn't any infections or anything that is bugging your throat.
Avatar m tn A couple of weeks ago I realized that i was having trouble hitting higher pitches when I was talking. It also feels like theirs something in my throat. I cant sing anymore except in a lower tone without going up. I find my self running short on breath as I talk at times. Im not in pain, just curious about whats going one.
Avatar m tn Do you have deviated nasal septum or sinusitis? Chronic discharge from sinuses drain out constantly in throat, causing sticky throat. Treatment is anti histamincs, decongestants along with antibiotics. Try steam inhalation along with ambroxol. For laryngitis, usually steriods are prescribed but best is to consult ENT surgeon. Indirect laryngoscopy is done to see larynx condition.
Avatar n tn My son developed laryngitis about 2 months ago. It is severe so that he can not talk at all. His ENT diagnosed it as Muscular dysphonia. He is seeing a speech therapist, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. He plays Sax in the band at school and can't get enough air out to play. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn will viral Laryngitis/Pharyngitis get relief from antibiotics as I was feeling well in a day after I took them. Will Herpes Laryngitis/Pharyngitis cause no sores in the mouth, tounge or lips? Is this some kind of bacterial infection or viral infection? Any suggestions highly appreciated. I took an appointment for next week with my ENT.I see the transmission rate of 4% with unprotected sex from female to male with HSV1 genitally.
Avatar m tn 9 months...I'm finally throwing it out to the internet. In June 2020 I got a bout of laryngitis. I continued on for 10 days w/ progressing neck pain radiating up to my temple on right side. Sent for Covid test (neg). Worsened and went to ER. Xrays and CTs showed slight protrusion of C4&5 and C6&7, but otherwise - normal. CBCs normal. SedRate/Inflammation marker - normal. I am female, 5'8 140, overall good health. In the last 9 months, ENT for laryrngoscopy -> clear.
Avatar n tn I wnet to a Doctor before getting on my return flight and he said he thought I had laryngitis likely caused by a viral infection. Therefore, he did not prescribe antibiotics. It has been about 9 days since the sexual encounter and I am wondering what my risk factors are. Could the oral sex have exposed me to an STD taht would cause a sore throat and laryngitis? If so, which STD would be most likely?
Avatar m tn Restasis will not lose it effectiveness in the frig. It will take a month or more to see if the medication helps. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn Had what I thought was a cold but has not progressed from the sore throat/laryngitis phase. Now not sure if it's that or something more serious. I do have a growth on the left side of my throat near my tonsil--it has been there for four years and has been checked out several times.
Avatar f tn Every time I am getting over a cold I end up with a persistent tickle way down in the back of my throat that coughing does nothing for. When I feel the tickle starting I try everything I can to stop it such as clearing my throat, coughing, drinking lots of water and so on but nothing stops it. It seems that only after having a very embarrassing coughing fit where I sometimes strain to breathe followed by a bout of sneezes is the the only thing to stop the tickle.
Avatar m tn Saw my doctor and the consensus was that it was a viral laryngitis type of sickness. Though at the time (3rd day) did not have any visible issues in throat. Then developed into a more congested mucousal cough. Headaches and fatigue throughout the majority of sickness. I have since developed sort of bumps or nodules in the back of my throat which seem odd to me. I have had strep multiple times and usually develop more the classic white spots, this is different.
Avatar f tn Thank you so very much for your quick response. I noticed a change in my voice approx. 1 year ago. No allergies, no trauma, do not smoke, and Dr has ruled out parkinson's disease. I was diagnosed with paramyotonia congenita; but recently have experienced new symptoms. I have had an abnormal emg/ncs, high muscle enzymes in bloodwork, negative mri's of the cervical and neck areas, negative for stiff man's syndrome, and thyroid disorder. I believe dr.
Avatar n tn If a patient complains of a sudden cough with gag reflex along with decreased hearing and ringing in the ears, vocal chord paralysis, laryngitis, night sweats. (Patient has a history and previous diagnosis of Smouldering Multiple Myeloma High risk.) CT Scan with contrast reveals a 6 mm Basilar Artery Aneurysm, forward to Neurosurgeon, NS says no link between present symptoms and aneurysm. Forward to ENT. ENT say use Flonaise, irritants/allergens most likely cause of present symptoms.
Avatar f tn Asthma dr who changed my nebulizer meds.I sounded like I was taking helium in. My voice was high pitched if I had a voice at all. Was admitted again.Saw ENT, flexible scope up my nose foind vocal cords, larynx and cartlidge in my throat were swollen and airway was comprised.iv steroids, flovent 220 and breathing treatments. The ENT said GERD.
Avatar n tn Was your dog bred to a sire or was this pregnancy a total accident? Do you have an accurate idea of your dog's due date? I will give you advise as to the optimal plan for your dog and her puppies and you can decide what to do. There is often a bit of discharge just prior to giving birth. Ideally, it would be best to have your dog evaluated by a vet, and have an X-Ray or ultrasound performed. The X-Ray would show if the fetus's have calcified and how many there are.
Avatar f tn I still have a lot of mucus and I’ve had laryngitis for a month. My doctor said speaking in meetings all day definitely doesn’t help the vocal chords to recover so he put me on voice rest for two weeks. It’s been a week already and I’ve been taking steroids, ibuprofen and Benadryl at the same time. Today I forgot for a second I don’t have a voice when I woke up this morning. And when I said a word by accident, I heard my voice and realized there was no improvement.
Avatar f tn I usually don't vent on here but I'm so tired. I have been sick constantly the past couple of months. I'm 36 weeks and have been puking since 14 weeks. In November I was in the ER for morning sickness and dehydration, then I got laryngitis, then it took 2 weeks for my voice to come back (which ***** when you teach!) And noe I have another cold! I can't breathe. I can't sleep. I can't enjoy this pregnancy because I have been so sick.
909900 tn?1261091060 If it's only a slight difference, I wouldn't worry about it at all, I would bring the puppy home and love him endlessly. I can understand the breeder wanting to warn you about it, this way if and when a vet pointed it out to you, you wouldn't be able to say that you had been unaware of it, but like I said, unless it is severe, it shouldn't ever be an issue anywhere but the conformation show ring, which, again, is not a worry with a dog that's not a purebred. Just enjoy him!
