yes it sounds like whooping cough, you have my sympathies. The only thing that helped me ( I had a very loud whooping and would vomit and almost pass out with the coughing) was to take coedine regulalry, it was the only thing that helped to suppress the cough. you MUST rest as much as possible and drink plenty of water.

I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. I have done allergy testing, tests to rule out relfux, seen ENT, pulmonlogist, & family dr multiple times with not much success. I got it. Why not if you can protect you and your child ya know. It's becoming more prevalent in a lot of areas and whooping cough is not something you mess with... not trying to be rude @krissy but people that don't get the "unnecessary" vaccines are the people who get and spread the unnecessary measles and what not.

I'm guessing they are talking about the vaccine. What do you mean ask others to get it? Are you gonna ask everyone that wants to see the baby to go get vaccinated? You can maybe ask people that want to visit the baby if they have had the booster shots...and just make sure no one is sick when they visit. If anyone has a cough or anything tell them not to visit. I think they vaccinate pretty early for whooping cough so the baby should be protected.

I got both flu and tdap. Whooping cough is an epidemic where I live. I have my kids up to date on their vaccines, and my husband will get his tdap before the baby is born. I will also be limiting contact with anyone who hasn't got a whooping cough vaccine, until he gets his vaccine. There's a lot of "research studies" out there saying vaccines do more harm than good, but I don't by into it. Why put the baby at risk? That is my opinion.

Yes very weird, and very scary. I went to the doctor on the 3rd week and was diagnosed with Whooping cough. I dont make the whoop noise after coughing, but when i gasp for air i make a terrible whoop noise. sometimes i might spew small amounts of mucus as well. Unfortunately even though i am on antibiotics now, i was too late in getting to the doctor, and the medication is only really going to stop me spreading the infection, and Maybe minimize the severity of the coughing.

my daughter was a premature baby and she got the whooping cough at 5 months she was ok thank god but my dr thought it was vary important that who ever was going to be around my daughter to get the shot and my whole family got it and my husbands family also the whooping cough is deadly to infants and vary important that you and family gets the shot

Have any of you ladies been offered a whooping cough vaccination at 28 weeks? Those of you who have had it in previous pregnancies, does it hold in any disadvantages? I've already declined getting the flu jab and now wondering whether I would need the whooping cough jab and if not, I won't take it either.

I got both of mine...flu with this pregnancy and both flu and whooping cough with my last, my son is 14 months. I have 2 daughters in school and between my job, food shopping, being in public or around kids at all I believe they are worth getting. With being pregnant and immune system being compromised to a degree it's better to play it safe for you and your little one.

Whooping cough AKA pertussis is a severe cough especially in children because they lose their breath! I watched a video once at school and had to do a research paper. Scary stuff!

I got both. The whooping cough vaccine is not for you. It's too help baby. Whooping cough is fatal to infants if they catch it and they can't get the vaccine until they are 2 months old. If you don't get it while pregnant thats 2 months baby is unprotected. Plus whooping cough is on the rise because people aren't vaccinating.

Ok so I have this cough and im afraid its turning into the whooping cough. I cant take the robitussion because I throw it up every time I take it. It cost me $25 dollars to call my doctor and I sadly wont have that until Friday. I am 30+1 and dont want anything to happen to my baby girl. Is there anything else I can take besides robitussion dm and triaminic?
