Laryngitis and phlegm

Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis and phlegm

laryngitis

Avatar f tn s as a kick start. Had the same thing and did Zpac and a shot to get it in my system. You need to watch out cuz green phlegm isn't a good sign. It's bacterial, watch for bronchitis, pneumonia.
Avatar m tn One the second day, my throat was still sore and coughing up green phlegm, but the stiffness and temperature were gone. I did notice that my arms were red and warm but didn't think much of it because it didn't look like the mac. pap. rash associated with ARS. By the evening I had developed laryngitis and basically lost my voice, or most of it anyway and coughing up wads of phlegm, really bad int he morning. It was like this for about a week.
Avatar f tn I orginally went to the Dr for dry cough and laryngitis. Was told I had bronchitis and was given antibiotics (bactrim). A week and a half later, I felt somewhat better. Suddenly two days later, I didnt go to the dr this time, I had sinus drainage hard core. My ears were popping every few seconds, head would pound with movement, and overall just a raw feeling in my throat. I got over that in about 5 days on my own...yay. But then got an allergic reaction of hives and swollen hands and fingers.
Avatar m tn I sometimes spit white phlegm now it looks to me. I feel fine now but these symptoms and my unprotected sex has been in back of my mind for a while now and ive been stressing like crazy. What do you think? Ive looked up laryngitis because that friday and saturday night i did drink alot of alcohol.
Avatar m tn I experienced congestion, cough, and laryngitis a day or two after exposure to large amounts of hay and agricultural lime. Taking this into consideration, I'm a bit skeptical as to whether or not it was a cold or just an alergic reaction. The symptoms have drastically decreased. My nose is still half-way stuffy, and I'm still spitting up white phlegm, but it's more of an annoyance now than anything else. Some people I've talked to think that it's post-nasal drip.
Avatar f tn There is increasing evidence that GERD causes laryngeal signs and symptoms. Symptoms of reflux laryngitis include hoarseness, throat clearing, dysphagia, increased phlegm, and globus (feeling of lump in one’s throat) sensation. Despite suspected epidemiologic reports, there is still controversy about the prevalence of GERD-related laryngeal signs and symptoms. Studies have shown that 24-hour pH monitoring may not be the perfect test for diagnosing atypical GERD.
Avatar m tn I felt like I was about to suffocate. Eventually, I was able to breathe a bit more and more, and to cough away the phlegm in my airway. I went to an ENT dr who said this was a GERD issue, Acid Reflux. I've been taking medication for that and it may have helped, but I did get another attack today. I've also had a diagnonsis, today, of Bronchitis. I've had the phlegm for around a week now and another ENT dr. told me that I have Bronchitis and that prescribed antibiotics for me.

Avatar n tn I have a very difficult time getting air past my inflamed voice box and experience inspiratory wheezing (or stridor?) with the dry barky cough, and sometimes a thick yellowish/greenish phlegm will be cleared from my throat. It's very scary feeling like my throat is closing up at times. I drink lots of water, use a humidifier and my albuterol inhaler (which I have for occasional mild asthma)...but that only seems to mildly help.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you now have a sinus infection, and the infected phlegm is draining to your throat, causing the cough. If the antibiotics prove ineffective, a Sinus Flush will clear it out. Saline rinses are only useful in the lower sinuses. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn 22 days so far my cough alternates between wet and dry, sometimes there is yellow/white phlegm. in the mornings, i experience heaving/gagging when coughing. in the beginning, it hurt to swallow and i experienced a deep barking cough (especially when lying down), but its starting to ease. my runny nose expels yellow/white mucus and i have to blow my nose every ~3min. in the mornings, mucus is dark yellow/orange.
Avatar m tn Im Just 22 from India, and been having this problem for around say 5 years from today,i feel theres a tight feeling,a lump at the back of my throat, sumthing ready to be swallowed, but stuck there, and my voice keeps gettn hoarse time to time,if i sleep or take rest for sumtime,it gets fine for sometime, but tends to get worse in few minutes, water helps at times, though i try n keep my vocal chords and throat hydrated,,my worse gets hoarse from time to time, and i am really down and depressed at tim
Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar f tn I keep losing my voice and I have seen an ENT (vocal chords red and swollen) and asthma doctor. Concluded that I have asthma but very mild put on Symbicort. This has happened about 9 times since last July. Last anywhere from 3-4 weeks. This time I have been fighting it for 4 weeks.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar f tn have a new dr that i will see next week. my voice has change I get hoarse after I talk a lot. I just got over ON and my eye dr thought I had glaucoma? I had a lot of pain in my eye. he took me next door and put 5 holes in my eye to releases the pressure . it was better? but he still cant give me a answer to what it is. I had ON in 09 and it was the same thing I told him that.but he still had no answer? well its still a little blurry but its a lot better. it lasted a lot longer.
Avatar m tn Instead, the acid is refluxed higher and can be aspirated causing worsened asthma (or in some people this is the sole cause of their asthma like symptoms), sinus infections, laryngitis and a host of other uppre respiratory issues. You should discus this possibility with your doctor to determine if you need treatment for GERD. Another thought would be your dust and pet allergy. Do you have allergy proof bedding covers on your matress, boxsprings and pillows.
Avatar m tn s nothing in my throat. But there was a little phlegm in there and I had a small case of laryngitis. I also have bad sinuses and a recent sinus surgery. So it could be post-nasal drip but the throat thing comes and goes at weird times. He says it could also be silent reflux. But why would it start now? It doesn't seem to appear after certain foods. Cough drops can help the problem for a little bit. Also, I feel that it gets a little better after eating.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I was laying in bed and felt phlegm come up my throat and when I spit it out, it was a prefectly spherical black ball shaped sac and the phlegm was all pitch black. The sac was about the size of a blueberry and it felt like it was made of skin or flesh. It was fully intact but with a hole where more black liquid squeezed out from. Not sure if this is related, but I have also been having headaches above my right eye for weeks.
Avatar f tn Woke up feeling really sick sore throat and my ears are hurting and i can hardly breathe through my nose.
Avatar n tn I need your help to understand my laryngitis problem and to get it cured. I have been suffering from laryngitis for over 3 months and taking medication for the last 2 months. When I consulted a doctor a couple of weeks ago, he did a stroboscopy and said that it could be due to acid reflux; he prescribed "Pantadoc". I took that for a couple of weeks and did not obsserve any difference.
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar n tn m asthmatic and have never smoked. Over the past six weeks I have been coughing up grey phlegm with black specks in it. I went to see my gp who sent me for an X ray and was clear.
Avatar f tn After weeks of having bad cold symptoms and laryngitis, I was diagnosed with GERD. I was worst at night, having to sit up all night, because of an extremely runny nose and coughing and choking on the discharge in my throat. I currently take 40 mg nexium before breakfast and dinner, for about 2 months now. Yesterday, I forgot to take the morning nexium. By noon, I was having a full blown "allergy" attack.

Avatar m tn Still some phlegm but I had pain on the left side of my throat. Doctor said my throat was red so he gave me some antibiotics (amoxocillin). Week 3: Still had phlegm in my throat but no fever, no pain, and no coughing. Week 4: Same symptoms. I went back to the doctor and he said as long as my phlegm is clear not to worry. Week 5: Went to another doctor for a second opinion. She said my throat is red and gave me some antibiotics called zithromax.
