laryngitis and neck spasms

Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.

I had a bad cold and then got laryngitis. That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??

It hurts too cuz all the muscles in my neck/throat cramp down and I can hardly talk. I have to force the words out and I think thats how I pulled the muscle in my neck/throat/jaw...??? Am I crazy? The ENT noticed it and called it Dysphonia but I know that can be from anything including psychological problems which I've never been accused of so far....... Does anyone else have this? HELP!

At the beginning of this month I believe I strained or damaged my voice from long hours of singing. My throat felt fatigued and I had tension in my neck. Hoarse voice etc etc. I also ended up with a popping/thumping feeling in my throat that happened every time I swallowed except when I was eating or drinking. The best way I can describe the feeling is try and imagine the sensation and pressure of cracking the knuckle of your middle finger and imagining that exact feeling in your throat.

It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Any suggestions on how to get relief from neck and back spasms. I'm about to just start crying from the pain. I am have not been diagnosed with MS, but figure y'all are the experts on spasms. I have locked up all weekend in the neck and now my entire back is one big knot!! Help!!

Consult an otolaryngologist who will evaluate the causes and treat likewise. Cough suppressants for laryngitis, treat GERD, stop smoking, vocal rest etc will make a difference. Hope this information helps you. Take care.

hello, I had decompression surgery sept. 06 and still have head and neck spasms also my shoulders and neck get tight. Maybe for u it will get better. I sure hope so.I wish I had A NS who new more about the symptoms b/c it a wide range of them. Is anyone still having problems post-op over 4 years. Did anyone headaches start r get worse after surgery?

I had my check up 8 days ago and was given Augmentin, the hoarseness was gone but the pain on the lower part of my neck is still there every time I speak and the pain on my ear is still there. My doctor advised me to use Augmentin for another 3 days. I need advise on the tests that I need to do that I can suggest to my doctor, what medicines I need to take, and what I can do to take care of my throat. Please help me. Thanks!

ad endoscopyseveral months afo and was negative for GERD. The pulmonologist said it was laringer spasms and a viral infection in vocal cords. Hospitalized for 3 weeks. Home on 20 days of oral steroids, flovent and nebulizer treatments. I am not feeling better.The coughng and the raspy, hoarse voice is still there and the gasping for air and choking continues but has gotten a little better.

Im in No Cali and have had this horrendous coughing and laryngitis for 38 d Im so frustrated and now worried and I was a paramedic for 25 yrs! U guys have made me feel much better I am to see the ENT finally next week.

I don't quite know how i came across this, i guess i was rubbing my neck and playing about with it (whilst i wait for a GP appointment) anyway, just underneath my adams apple i pulled the skin and felt what seems to be 2 - 3 inch long mass of tissue ( i don't think its a muscle ) now i heard GERD can cause cancer.. possible?

These are my symptoms If i chew hard meat it triggers left facial pain with spasms in my jaw muscles and neck My neck swells because of the spasms then I have a hard time swallowing. I have a ms lesion in my spinal cord and my triminal nerve My jaw spasms is like spasticity that i get in my legs. Just chewing make me fatigue, most of the time I have to grind up my food because I also have swallowing problem and weak jaw muscles.. the neurologist and my pcp are stumped.

I have suffered from chronic neck spasms and pain, arm pain and pins and needles, numbness of my left ear and migraines for about 15 years. Found out my neck and spine are out of alignment and my muscles in my shoulders and neck are inflamed putting pressure on my ocipital nerve causing the pain. I currently go twice a week for alignments and massage and use an icepack on my neck shoulders several times a day for 20 minute increments. These things are helping tremendously, so well that I am hoping continuing these therapies after baby comes will keep me from needing meds at all.

However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.

9 months...I'm finally throwing it out to the internet. In June 2020 I got a bout of laryngitis. I continued on for 10 days w/ progressing neck pain radiating up to my temple on right side. Sent for Covid test (neg). Worsened and went to ER. Xrays and CTs showed slight protrusion of C4&5 and C6&7, but otherwise - normal. CBCs normal. SedRate/Inflammation marker - normal. I am female, 5'8 140, overall good health. In the last 9 months, ENT for laryrngoscopy -> clear.

She touched my lower back and I cried it hurt so bad. Before I would just work through it but it is starting to wake me up with spasms in my arms and neck. Driving is becoming a problem, sitting at my desk hurts. I hurt all the time.

I do notice sternacleidomastoid (scm) being tender/sore, and up under jaw, behind ear, in ear, in rt lymph node area especially behind it, but lymph node is not swollen, but just in that area there is pain. I know the scm attaches in tha region, and there are a host of neck muscles, and even under chin in diagastric muscles, plus shoulder &n neck muscles that can come into play here. Often, like today, the area under my chin is tender.

I seem to swallow air and then I can't speak properly,usually movment in the neck causes the problem! I know my stomach is distended! I have been examined years ago but,docs did not know what the condition was the feeling I get is that the oesophagus is restricting airflow and I feel a great tiredness in the eyes! It can last for 3-4 days and then go away! Can anything be done!

They have not seen someone ending up with upper back and neck spasms that continued and never stopped since the procedure. These are all day and night I can barley sleep. Before LP I was perfectly fine. I went hiking once a week and did work outs with my daughter. I can't take care of my kids and have been to so many drs I am desperate for help. I have even stopped working. Please someone has to know something. Thanks in advance.

have a new dr that i will see next week. my voice has change I get hoarse after I talk a lot. I just got over ON and my eye dr thought I had glaucoma? I had a lot of pain in my eye. he took me next door and put 5 holes in my eye to releases the pressure . it was better? but he still cant give me a answer to what it is. I had ON in 09 and it was the same thing I told him that.but he still had no answer? well its still a little blurry but its a lot better. it lasted a lot longer.
