I am a 37 year old male who recently got married (may 2007) and in August 2007 we found out we were having a baby. In the meantime, I was going to school and trying to maintain a 4.0 average, working on a house (that ended up falling through) and working 40 hours a week. I was very happy to get married and very excited about the baby - especially when i found out we were having a son. In January 2008, I started experience the inablity to swallow. I swore my throat was closing up on me.
o my gosh im exactly the same, well its not bad cold symptoms, but i always get a cough and funny nose and stuff every time i have my period. i dont know why but im always like it.
Rick's comments were comprehensive and excellent, and I really can't add much to say that I strongly urge you to find a pancreatic specialist or another gastroenterologist who will consider all your physical symptoms, your elevated lipase levels, and your CT-scan results and dig deeper into what this "abnormalty" is in your pancreas. All of this is associated with pancreatitis, either acute or chronic, and should not be taken lightly!

Another home remedy I have used for sore throats and laryngitis is mixing honey and lemon. It works well. Pineapple is also good for the throat. strator and snook- That is great work you are doing, truly noble. If you reach just 1 person, you have done more than most.
I am 40 and developed the symptoms of nausea, ulcer-type pain between meals and at night, stomach soreness and bloating after eating on Dec. 6. My primary doctor said it was probably gastritis and put me on Axid 75 mg twice a day. After consuming a cornish hen for Christmas, symptoms became even worse. The doctor told me to stop the Axid. My abdominal ultrasound was normal. Blood tests were normal except the RBC's were 407 instead of 421.H. pylori was negative.
I have problems swallowing, a sensation like the food isn't going down. But, I don't have evening symptoms and my symptoms increase a great deal with exercise. During exercise, I also get chest pain/wheezing only on the R side of my chest. I had the endoscope today, which is said to be normal, no sign of irritation, ulcer or any lesions. Is prilosec really supposed to help my symptoms. Before the endoscope I tried advair inhaler for a week and prilosec for 2 weeks with no change in my symptoms.
I am also physically exhausted, have sudden headaches at least 4 times per week and have sudden, intense nausea which goes away as quickly as it comes but occurs almost daily. I have had my thyroid hormone levels checked and the results are normal. I went for an ultrasound a few days ago... I am expecting the results today but I feel quite certain that the techs didn't see anything on my thyroid. Has anyone ever seen this or know what could be causing it!? I am desperate to feel better.
1)majority of my symptoms seem to have started shortly after a bout with strep throat and laryngitis. Is it possible that this irritated my vagus nerve and had somehow precipitated my symptoms (including the PAT?). A: No. Infections do not affect the vagus nerve. 2) If irritation of the vagus nerve can or is the main cause of my problems, what can be done to resolve it? A: See answer to number 1. 3) Can hypoglycemia cause the same symptoms that I've been having?
Last night I had several episodes I woke up repeatedly coughing My throat was dry then I took sips of water, which didnt seem to relieve it. The problem with this is that some time it makes my stomach hurt, I feel achy and nausea sometimes happens. I believe it is allergy related because I talk daily to people on both coast of the US and they are relating that they or someone they know is having the same issue. I have a DRs appt and will keep you posted on what I am told.
SEEMS TO FINALLY BE CONVINCED THAT ALL OF MY SYMPTOMS ARE RELATED TO GERD. I EVEN SUFFER FROM SINUS PAIN AND SPORADIC LARYNGITIS. AM CURRENTLY TAKING AXIFED WITH NO GOOD RESULTS. NEXT, HE WANTS ME TO TRY PROTONIX, ALTHOUGH I REALLY AM TERRIFIED OF THIS DRUG. HAVE HEARD MANY BAD EFFECTS. AFTER THAT, HE WANTS ME TO SEE A SURGEON, I AM AT THE POINT THAT I CANNOT CONTROL THIS WITH DIET, ETC. SCARED TO DEATH OF THE SURGERY, BUT WHAT CHOICE DO I HAVE???!!!
The primary symptoms of GERD are heartburn, regurgitation, and nausea. Heartburn usually is described as a burning pain in the middle of the chest. It may start high in the abdomen or may extend up into the neck. Sometimes the pain may be sharp or pressure-like, rather than burning. Such pain can mimic heart pain (angina). In other patients, the pain may extend to the back. Typically heartburn related to GERD is seen more commonly after a meal.
7 weeks ago I got a really bad cold which led to laryngitis, bronchitis and a sinus infection 1 week later. Around 10 days in I started a round of antibiotics, Nasonex and cough medicine at night to help me sleep because I would cough so much. Well Biaxin made me very sick, I had nausea and diarrhea for the whole 10 days, I could hardly eat. My cough was productive and after 10 days dried up a little, and it seemed my sinuses were feeling better, although I sounded plugged.
Initially it was thought to be severe laryngitis, but it was found that the thyroid was enlarged and was compressing her windpipe making breathing hard. A full thyroidectomy was done followed by a tracheotomy because her airway was still small due to inflammation. The pathology reports post-surgery examination of the thyroid tissue that was removed confirmed papillary.
This is not a symptom of ARS and I have never seen it. ARS symptoms mimic those of a bad flu- muscle aches/pains, extreme fatigue, fever, nausea and/or vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Coughing, runny nose, a sore throat and stuffy nose are typical cold symptoms. There is a big difference. Stop researching symptoms because you will only drive yourself crazy and make yourself worry even more! Try to relax and stay off the internet.
GERD has many manifestations, which I will describe here. The most common symptoms of GERD are heartburn (or pyrosis), regurgitation, and dysphagia. In addition, a variety of extraesophageal manifestations have been described including asthma, laryngitis, and chronic coughing. Heartburn is typically described as a retrosternal burning discomfort, radiating toward the neck.

I feel sort of cloudy headed, sleepy and again, nauseated all the time. My symptoms are much worse in the night while I sleep. I wake up and it really hurts to swallow, as if I have a raw spot in my throat. Oh, and also, today that it is worse, I have been having a lot of tickling/itching deep inside my ears. I am very worried, but since I have a government HMO given to me for taking care of my mom who has lupus and parkinson's, I have to go to Harbor UCLA only.
3 weeks ago my family returned from vacation, my husband, daughter and I ended up on z-pack for Laryngitis, sore throat and chest congestion. My son was treated for strep throat(his rapid strep test was negative but he had pus on his tonsils, fever, and very bad sore throat). I also had twinges of nausea. About a week later I got up to go to work(I am an RN) and although I was OK the day before I was very dizzy, short of breath and hypotensive. I stayed home the next day as well.
Other possible symptoms include chills, runny nose, headache, muscle ache, and in less folks, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Seventy percent of hospitalized cases have high risk conditions (including pregnancy), but 30% are apparently healthy young persons, so everyone needs to be careful to practice respiratory infection control. Pandemic H1N1 flu affects the young with 5% occurring in persons older than age 50.

Three weeks back I had a Z pack for bacterial laryngitis and took tylenol then too. Those are the only medications I have taken. I do not drink, smoke, or do drugs. In 2009 I had my gallbladder removed due to gallbladder disease. Other than Asthma I have been healthy. Today in the ER my lab results came back: Protein (H) 8.4 range 6.2-8.2 Albumin 4.2 range 3.2-4.7 Billirubin total 1.0 range <1.1 Billirubin (H) 0.5 range 0.0-0.
Hi, I am trying to decide if I should go forward with the Nissen Fundiplication surgery for laryngitis gerd. I am 41, female and in good health. I have had LGERD symptoms of hoarse voice, sore throat and an inability to clear my throat for 10+ years. I don't have any heartburn symptoms. None of the medications have helped. Protonix used to help but I am now on 2 a day with mo relief. I have had all the tests and my GI (2 opinions) say that surgery is the last try for me.
In addition to this I suffered my whole life with headaches, achy joints, dry bloodshot eyes chronic cough,.dizziness and nausea at times. The asthma was when I hit bottom. I was short of breath for a month. The Drs gave me an antibiotic, prednisone and had me on a nebulizer but nothing helped. I thought I was gonna die. I knew I was allergic to aspirin and that aspirin is a salicylate that comes from the bark of the willow tree.

Did CT scan & diagnosed a sinus infection - given antibiotics. Tested for Lyme disease - negative. 1 wk later, back in the ER for severe abdominal pain & throat closing feeling. Switched my antibiotics & I was still not able to eat. I swore my throat was closing.
