Laryngitis and inhaler use

Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis and inhaler use

laryngitis

Avatar n tn is it safe to use spiriva and advair together my sister has had laryngitis for 4 weeks
Avatar f tn t getting sick as often until about 3 weeks ago I started to get a cold that turned into what I thought was laryngitis pretty much right away. Now I have been without a voice for almost 3 weeks. It hurts to try and talk and my throat feels really swollen. It also feels like my neck is bruised on the left side. It is really sensitive to touch. I finally went to the doctor and they thought for sure that it was thyroiditis so ran all the tests for that.
Avatar n tn s very scary feeling like my throat is closing up at times. I drink lots of water, use a humidifier and my albuterol inhaler (which I have for occasional mild asthma)...but that only seems to mildly help. The problem feels like it is localized to my throat though, not my lungs. I'm usually prescribed antibiotics for a suspected sinus infection, and take it faithfully but I worry that it dries out my throat even more, exacerbating the croup like symptoms.
Avatar n tn After about a month, I went to see my PCP which told me I had bronchitis and laryngitis. She put me on Amoxicilian, Claritin, tessalon pearl (for the cough) and albuterol inhaler. After finishing all my antibiotic, continuing claritin, tessalon pearl (as needed) and inhaler, I started to feel better. Once again, the cough is back, runny nose, and no voice. Will I EVER talk again? Have I done too much damage to recover from this? And why do I continue to get sick? PLEASE HELP!
Avatar n tn Hello, In some patients, acid can reflux into the throat causing inflammation of the back of the throat which can lead to pharyngitis, or into the vocal cords, which can lead to laryngitis and hoarseness. Although there are many other causes for sore throat and laryngitis, GERD should be suspected in a patient with chronic sore throat or other GERD symptoms or when no other cause can be found.
Avatar f tn Your baby might be sitting high i swear i use my inhaler twice as much as i used to.
Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar f tn I cannot afford to go to the doctor. Can I use my inhaler? I know something is irrated down there and I have Avdair and a regular inhaler.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me using the neb more than an inhaler. I am to use my inhaler only when I absolutely cannot use my neb or for very minor issues. Personally, I find it is MUCH more effective. The nebulizer produces a much finer mist than what comes out of an inhaler enabling it to get deeper into the lungs. I know of some people that have purchased small, purse sized nebs to use instead of using an inhaler at all.
Avatar n tn He said he would review the blood work with me and see him again in 3 months and he would prescibe the meds if everything was ok. He said 95% of his diabetes patients that use it had good results. Forgot to ask him name of medicine. So I have been doing some internet research and can only find insulin inhalers. Anybody know what med he is talking about?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me this is a very common problem for people who use inhalers. I guess for now yours wants you to get the benefit of the inhaler and suffer through these heart palpitations. Maybe you'll get used to the inhaled medicine better or later he will reduce the number of times you need to take the inhaler---or give you an inhaler that delivers less medicine and doesn't have this effect. I hope it's better by now.
Avatar n tn you might want to ask your doctor for sure. im 15 weeks and on albuterol inhaler and when my doctor brough up my asthma to me at my last appointment she told me not being able to breath is more of a risk to my baby than taking my albuterol. id assume the same is true for you. if they dont think that inhaler is safe for you or baby anymore, maybe they can switch you to something to use during the pregnancy that will help you breathe.
Avatar f tn However I am on Seretide (purple inhaler) and ventolin I did not find the ventolin of much use and do not use it as often but the serotide I use and a spacer has helped in the past. The cough and infections are also common to me I get bronchitis quite often especially in winter and colder seasons and have spent a lot of time in hospital with it in the past since using the seretide and ventolin together I have not been in hospital in over two Years which has helped a lot.
4456535 tn?1355894638 I have a question for everyone can i still use my inhaler while being pregnant without affecting my future baby(sounds amazing to say it) im a first timer so i am a bit curious. So if you can answer my question please do 'cause sometimes i need my inhaler and im not sure if i could use it.
Avatar n tn I was able to quit using Advair and only use my rescue inhaler from time to time. (When someone decides to wear certain perfumes or colognes). I am taking grape seed extract which contains OPCs which are very good for controlling asthma. Just thought somebody would like to know...
Avatar n tn It is my understanding the Combivent is a rescue inhaler. You should use it as prescribed and/or as needed. You doctor added the FLovent because he/she did not feel that you were getting the control you needed from the previous treatment plan. I would consider the Flovent as an addition to you previous routine and not change anything. Take care and have a blessed New Year.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone here uses an albuterol inhaler and are they safe to use during pregnancy? I use one every now and then but not on a daily basis. I'm only 5 weeks along. I used mine tonight because I felt like I absolutely had to.
757137 tn?1347196453 You are not supposed to have the vaccine for shingles if you have been using steroids. I stopped using Advair (a steroid inhaler) last August, after using it for several years. I don't know if there is damage to my immune system. Is it safe for me to get the vaccine?
Avatar n tn I am relatively new to the use of an inhaler and have trouble telling when they are empty, full, or even working. Four evenings ago I started a knew inhaler and ended up using them both an estimated 6 treatments. The 1st day after this I experienced intense heartburn. I dont usually get heartburn and have never experienced this extreme discomfort. Blamed it on the pizza we had eaten.
Avatar n tn There are anti-fungals (natural and prescription) and that combined with a proper diet (no sugar and yeast products) and good probiotics can help eliminate the candida. I have never heard of hydrogen peroxide being used to cure candida, but we have come a long way since then.
Avatar f tn I keep losing my voice and I have seen an ENT (vocal chords red and swollen) and asthma doctor. Concluded that I have asthma but very mild put on Symbicort. This has happened about 9 times since last July. Last anywhere from 3-4 weeks. This time I have been fighting it for 4 weeks.
