Avatar f tn In viral symptoms appear gradually and are less severe in bacterial they get sick fairly quickly and have a high fever and rapid breathing. With treatment bacterial is cured in 1-2 weeks..viral will last longer. There are vaccines now .The type of anti biotic depends on the type of pneumonia she has , as she has only taken the meds for a few days I would continue as prescribed but if indeed she seems worse and her temperature climbs it may be aswell to have her checked out again ..
Avatar m tn I keep mine in the fridge also, opened and unopened. The doctor had recommended to keep the opened one in the fridge so I can use it till it's empty, but I am not sure about the unopened ones.
Avatar n tn Over the next few days I began to lose my voice and had problems swallowing but did not have fever, body aches etc. Nor did I feel sick although I sounded horrible. I wnet to a Doctor before getting on my return flight and he said he thought I had laryngitis likely caused by a viral infection. Therefore, he did not prescribe antibiotics. It has been about 9 days since the sexual encounter and I am wondering what my risk factors are.
Avatar m tn will viral Laryngitis/Pharyngitis get relief from antibiotics as I was feeling well in a day after I took them. Will Herpes Laryngitis/Pharyngitis cause no sores in the mouth, tounge or lips? Is this some kind of bacterial infection or viral infection? Any suggestions highly appreciated. I took an appointment for next week with my ENT.I see the transmission rate of 4% with unprotected sex from female to male with HSV1 genitally.

Avatar f tn It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar m tn During vaginal sex the condom came out. Though the girl said she was tested few days back and it was negative, its not reliable. I went through my first test (HIV Rapid antibody test) after 10 days of possible exposure. The result came negative. I am working in Kazakhstan which is extremely cold during this period. I was suffering from persistent cough from the beginning of winter, which increased later on.
Avatar m tn 3 days later laryngitis is getting better but now I got a small fever. My usual daily temperature is between 97.9 and 98.6 (with average being 98.2-98.4) On the 13th day my temperature is somewhere between 99.2 and 99.8 for about 3 hours since I woke up. Here are my questions: 1. what are my risks for the following: a. HIV b. Syphilis c. Herpes d. Chlamydia e. Gonorrhea f. HPV 2. Can my sore throat be an indicator of any of the above? 3.
Avatar f tn In October I completely lost my voice. After one month I went to an ENT and he said it was acute laryngitis. My voice has almost returned to normal but there is a connstant tightness in my throat. If I cough the tightness goes away for a short time. It's very obvious when I try to talk. I get choked by the tightness and cough. Sometimes even after I cough I have trouble talking because of the tightness in my throat.

Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
6514595 tn?1382067585 thought I had a sore throat because it hurts to swallow i have what looks like inflamed/ swollen bumps/taste buds in the very back of my tongue. Also running fever and my gums feel funny like a tickling sensation in my gums/Chun. Any ideas? I'm pregnant and I can barely eat or drink because the pain is so bad.
Avatar f tn No, he never actually gave it a name--he did say that to remove it, it would have to be outpatient surgery and that I'd be under anesthesia and since he didn't think it was worth that risk, he said we'd watch it. We waited some months and I went back and it hadn't grown and he said to come back if it ever got bigger which it hasn't--just causes my throat to be gravelly after talking for a few paragraphs.
Avatar n tn I had a TT in Sept of 2007. The endo and I are getting close to getting my meds right, which is great. Though, I am now concerned about my long term health and my immune system. I am sat in bed recovering from the flu... this makes the 3rd time since my surgery that I have been sick for a week straight with a high fever. I was pretty healthy before and other then the occasional cold, rarely got sick. Has anyone else who has had a TT found that their immune system is not what it once was.
Avatar f tn I keep losing my voice and I have seen an ENT (vocal chords red and swollen) and asthma doctor. Concluded that I have asthma but very mild put on Symbicort. This has happened about 9 times since last July. Last anywhere from 3-4 weeks. This time I have been fighting it for 4 weeks.
Avatar f tn I also have had 99.2 F fever, today. should I see a doctor to know what it is or will it just go away in time?
Avatar f tn s as a kick start. Had the same thing and did Zpac and a shot to get it in my system. You need to watch out cuz green phlegm isn't a good sign. It's bacterial, watch for bronchitis, pneumonia.
Avatar n tn t sound as lactose intolerance. Viral diarrhea (Rotavirus) is common in children younger than 5 years, and some immunity develops after that, so it would be unusual to have 4 consecutive bouts of diarrhea from the virus. I have atrial fibrillation and, when walking, I have dyspnea posssibly due to respiratory infection. I have an 8-9 mm nodule and a few smaller ones in my lungs. Avatar f tn This past week, approximately 2 weeks or so from the start of her last ob, her twin brother was running a fever and said his throat was scratchy. The fever started Tuesday and would go down or away after a dose of ibuprofen. By Friday, he was better and almost back to himself. He didn't have much of an appetitem, but I related that to the fever and him not feeling well overall. Yesterday I noticed a red, irritated area under his right eye.
