Laparoscopic hysterectomy healing time

Common Questions and Answers about Laparoscopic hysterectomy healing time

hysterectomy

Avatar m tn Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy in 4 days. I started my period and will be on the light days at the end by the time i have surgery. Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had a hysterectomy that started out laparoscopic then went to abdominal? Do you have any advice for recovery ? Tips? Heads up?
Avatar n tn I just had a repair in combination with a laparoscopic partial hysterectomy. I am on day 3 post surgery and off all pain meds except the Motrin 800 which is more to reduce swelling. I would not have done repair if my hysterectomy was not medically necessary even though it was bothersome it was not life threatening. Overall not in much pain from the repair.
Avatar f tn I wish you luck with with your operation and am glad you understand your healing time is both important and may well take longer than estimated
Avatar f tn I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy 8 weeks ago and I have had terrible pain in my groin and in my left leg. It even wakes me up at night! Ok honestly thought I would be completely fine by now! Also dealing with stomach pain and still swollen a little. I have no energy at all and this is just getting ridiculous! I told my doctor at my 6 week check up but she said I was just healing! This can’t be normal!!
Avatar f tn s eleven days post op with a hysterectomy, ovary and tube removal, and a sacrocolpopexy through the davinci robotic laparoscopic method. I returned to work yesterday as an accountant and worked for six hours. Lots of abdominal discomfort last night, some pressure, and what appeared to be some blood in my urine (pinkish color). My family thinks I'm pushing it. What do you think.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am having laparoscopic hysterectomy with ovary removel.(Brca gene) I have a one year old baby. I was told I can't pick up anything over 10pounds. No yoga or anything either . For 4 weeeks. Wow is this really true?? Is there a procedure with better post op recovery?
Avatar f tn My hysterectomy was done vaginally. Laparoscopic with three holes in my stomach and uterus was pulled through my vagina as well as tubes and ovaries. Rectocele and Rectocele were stitched as well as cervix after uterus removal. I stayed 2 notes but if u can pee just one nite. Whole procedure sort of like having a vaginsl baby with episiotomy . Lol I am 71 years old with all three prolapsed.
1809377 tn?1316520328 she scheduled a partial total laparoscopic hysterectomy. She will only keep ovaries unless they are diseased, one due to my age (34), and bcuz I have a family history of both heart & osteoporosis, so why take any risks. She will be removing the tubes, along with the uterus & cervix because she wants to prevent issues in the future with endometrial cells causing issues in the futures & I have past problems w/ annormal paps. Surgery is scheduled for 10/5.
Avatar f tn I am 2 weeks post op....hysterectomy...I am experiencing severe left sided low back pain... Could this be related to the surgery?
Avatar n tn My doctor suggests that I get a hysterectomy. I do not want to try any medications because I feel that they will only mask the problem and eventually I will have to deal with it. I have two children, and don't plan on having additional children. My doctor suggested performing the hysterectomy laparoscopically to avoid opening me up again. She will remove the endometriosis through coagulation. Do you think that these two methods are the appropriate treatment?
Avatar n tn I had a vagina assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy about 4 weeks ago. My doctor and I felt this was my only option because I had already had 15 laparoscopic surgeries to remove endometreosis since I was 18. I have a beautiful baby boy who is 3 years old and my husband had a vasectomy before I met so we weren't planning on having any more children. The doctor did leave my ovaries so that I wouldn't have to go on hormone replacement therapy.
Avatar f tn im just worried of damaging myself? if that can happen. im healing ok and not in pain anymore. just tiny bit of discomfort on my tummy button. was you ok after?
Avatar n tn Like spreading my legs part is not comfortable to do. Why do I feel any pressure an pain down there I thought laparoscopic hysterectomy meant we did not touch my vagina? And if it is normal, it has been almost 3 months now why is the discomfort still there anyway?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. Recently I was diagnosed with endocervical adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS). I had a leep procedure and that's how it was discovered. I'm now scheduled to have a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I get to keep my ovaries. I'm 31, no children and I don't want any so that's not a problem for me. But I'm still struggling. I'm scared to have the hysterectomy because the recovery process seems so long and painful and one of my biggest fears is pain.
Avatar f tn I saw my obgyn today and was told in order to relieve my menstrual cramping the next step would be a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I had an oblation 2 years ago and it wasn't helping anymore. I was wondering if i will still get my period, he said he would be leaving my ovaries in.
Avatar f tn I am 3 weeks post laparoscopic total hysterectomy. I was grateful to find that there are others feeling the same things as I am. I was very surprised at how much I'm NOT able to do. I recommend finding many things to do laying down and get friends & family till help around the house, so you don't over do it. I've felt muscle pain in my abdomen, feels like a charlie horse even.
Avatar f tn By the way, if the cyst is benign, you could be a candidate for a supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy, or a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy with removal of ovary(s). I'm sure that you don't want more surgery, but you even more don't want more cancer! Good luck!
Avatar n tn So glad to hear surgery went well and the cyst was all that was removed.
Avatar f tn Has any one had laparoscopic surgery done t remove endometriosis?
Avatar f tn A small fibroid is not a reason to get a hysterectomy, either. Endometriosis can be treated by laparoscopic surgery, but it is to remove the endometriosis, not the uterus. Are you sure your doctor wanted you to have a hysterectomy? Here is a link that describes endometriosis. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn I think you will be fine and less recovery time with laparoscopic surgery. You may be limited to heavy lifting and driving for 4-6 weeks. Your doctor will advise you. Actually, I had a bladder suspension done when my uterus was removed vaginaly. That tecovery was very uncomfortable! I have never taken hormones. Again, discuss this with your doctor.
Avatar n tn I'm sorry you are still in pain. It's surprising how many doctors want to "wash their hands" of us after surgery. Do you have a primary care doctor you can see? I'm curious what type of hysterectomy you had - robotic, laparoscopic? I assume one of those "less invasive" (fewer incisions) methods since you went back to work so quickly. I hope this pain resolves soon!
Avatar n tn Anyway, she did schedule me for a CT scan but actually my pain then started to get better before I had the scan, so I cancelled the scan (with the ability to reschedule it at any time). WELL, I thought all was pretty good but today, exactly 7 weeks after the surgery, I am having a burning pain where the cyst was removed. Before then it felt like kinda little needles once in a while but now this burning crap. And it's not going away!
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
Avatar f tn I have been wondering that myself I had a uterus up lift a couple of years after I had my son about 10 years ago I started to get really bad periods and was really sick all the time about five years ago I went to see an obgyn and he told me I needed to get a hysterectomy they tried to do it laparoscopic but every time they turn me upside down I would die after twice the cut me open and he said that my inside was really messed up and if I had waited to much longer I would been dead but now this
Avatar f tn My MD is fantastic, and has offered many options but it seems my best ones are either a) hysteroscopic myomectomy with HTA endometrial ablation, or b) laparoscopic DaVinci hysterectomy. Of course, I can't decide! On the one hand, with multiple fibroids, some of which are actively bleeding, the recurrence rate is high once they are cut out, and I am likely still many years away from menopause hysterectomy seems like an appealing final solution to my problems.
