Avatar f tn My mother had an Ovarian Cyst for 14 years. It grew bigger than a Soccer ball. An Ultra sound would get things cleared.
Avatar f tn By the way, if the cyst is benign, you could be a candidate for a supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy, or a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy with removal of ovary(s). I'm sure that you don't want more surgery, but you even more don't want more cancer! Good luck!

Avatar f tn I had a ovarian cystectomy in 1986, total abdominal hysterectomy in 1994, bilateral salipingoophrectomy and ovarian cysts removed in 2005. This year I had a CAT scan for another medical issue and it was discovered that I had masses both right and left adenxal area. I went to the Cancer Institute of NJ for a consultation with a GYN/Oncologist. After numerous tests including MRI, Ultrasounds, CA-125 (negative) and I had lab work done which indicated I was premenopausal.

Avatar f tn We need all our organs our WHOLE LIVES not only for fertility but for overall health. Ovary removal as well as hysterectomy (uterus removal) are grossly overused in the U.S. If there is any concern about cancer, I would hope your gyn would recommend you see an oncologist.

473222 tn?1214439873 I had an ovarian cyst removed last August through Laparoscopic surgery. But since then, another one has form again on my ovary. Avatar f tn Hi. I need input badly please. I am 40 yrs old and had a laparoscopic hysterectomy done in April 2014. I had a right ovary removal, cervix removal and replaced with a cuff and extra scar tissue removed from my past csections. I still have my left ovary that sometimes produces cysts still. Since my surgery I have put on at least 20 lbs. I am taking hard core kick boxing and eating way better than I was and can't seem to lose anything, I just keep gaining. :( its so depressing.
Avatar f tn I am 43 yrs old, I had my hysterectomy at 33 or 34 due to ovarian cysts, endometriosis and extreme pain. I was on Lupron injections for a couple of yrs (can't remember exact amount of time). I remember loving the shots because it lessoned my pain and I didn't have a period for 6 months with every injection. Today I believe I was so niave and just wanted to stop taking tons of pain medication and dealing with the whole thing in general, that when my doctor said hysterectomy....
Avatar f tn In many cases , there is no need to add this very expensive tool to standard laparoscopic surgery. For instance, the removal of an ovarian cyst, or ovaries and tubes, even the laparoscopic approach to a hysterectomy. The DaVinci Robot adds a helpful tool for complex surgery such as radical cancer surgery (radical hysterectomy) or surgery on people who may be challenging because of their size (very over weight).
Avatar f tn I just received my radiology report back & it states the following: Procedure: Multiple sagittal & transverse, transabdominal & transvaginal images were obtained. Findings: Complex mixed cystic & solid right adnexal/ovarian mass. No free fluid identified. Entire region of right ovary very enlarged measuring 7 X 3.2 cm. left ovary measures 2 X 2.5 X 3.9 cm. abnormal thickening of endometrium measuring 15mm.
Avatar n tn I am 37 with no history of cysts, abnormal paps or fibroids. I had a laparatomy done in Feb. 2010 to remove 2 cysts, largest measuring 13cm and 1 fibroid 8cm. My CA125 was 730. Therefore, they proceeded with the laparotomy so they could do the frozen sections. During the surgery, they discovered that I had extensive endometriosis. After recovering at home, two months later, I had an MRI because I was experiencing severe abdominal pains. I developed another cyst 13cm on my left ovary.
Avatar n tn Would you go through with a partial hysterectomy for spotting all throughout the month or would you do a uterine biopsy first to rule out cancer then just deal with the bleeding and heavy periods?

Avatar n tn I am sorry you're going through this. I cannot speak to having two surgeries for cysts. Are they sure it's a dermoid cyst? Imaging is not exact so they oftentimes cannot be sure of the type of cyst. For instance, what is thought to be a dermoid cyst could be hemorrhagic or endometrioma. Typically, the "standard" is to monitor via periodic ultrasounds. If the cyst doesn't resolve and gets over 7cm or so then surgery would be the next step.
Avatar m tn I am 25 years old and need to go through another laparoscopic surgery for a 10cm regrow ovarian cyst. Although no doctor has ever told me to pay attention on what I eat, but i decided to quitting eat meats might contain steroid, like chicken wings. Since ovarian cysts are related to our hormone level. steroids is not good to us. This is just my way to prevent. Good luck!

Avatar f tn I've been prone to cysts for 5years which only got tested and discovered last year! I am almost always in AGONY and have tried everything from birth control to surgery but they always return! I honestly cannot cope anymore and my docs useless! Please help!!
Avatar f tn HI, Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing severe pain and discomfort from a combination of ovarian cysts and fibroids for 3 years now. I was treated with birth controls pills and then steroids and nothing has worked. I just got back the results of my most recent ultrasound. I have 2 cysts on an ovary and 2 fibroids. The doctor has talked to me about a myomectomy option vs. hysterectomy for the fibroid removal. I don't know which way to go on this.
Avatar f tn So I have looked up symptoms of ovarian cysts and one that caught my eye was weight gain. Has anyone ever gained weight because of cysts? I can not seem to lose any weight. I wonder if the cysts are causing this?
Avatar m tn s or earlier then you have less than a 2% ovarian cancer over a life time. 98% of ovarian cysts are benign cysts can be the size of grapefruits. I was surprised that an ultra sound could show ovarian cancer but it can. Mine showed cancer. I had an ultrasound on Thursday. The doctor called me Monday and told me I had a mass. I saw the Oncologist on the next day and was in surgery in three days. You probably all ready know this but it is good to go to a GYN/Oncologist.
