Lantus without prescription

Common Questions and Answers about Lantus without prescription

lantus

Avatar n tn You can buy Lantus without a prescription from any pharmacy in Canada. There are other prescription and nonprescription drugs available for sale online, which can save an uninsured American a lot of money. The powers that be will argue its not safe or say almost anything to get the monet and authority back in their control. They are liars and would allow people to die in order to maintain their lavish lifestyle.
Avatar m tn Lantus is a 24 hour basal insulin that starts to work in an hour after injected and lasts most of the day without peaking. Also, I have never heard of a Lantus pen but have a call into our local rep to ask. My teenage son has Type 1 diabetes and there is never a dull moment with diabetes, is there.
Avatar f tn To my knowledge, Lantus does not interfere with the Pancreas. However, tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, including any supplements and vitamins or herbal products.
Avatar n tn No, I am not aware of any people who have contacted us with any kind of resistance to Lantus. I do know that Lantus must be replaced at the end of a month on one bottle. The expiration date is really important, for near the end of the month, some of us find that it no longer crystallizes properly. Some people notice that when the Lantus bottle is about one month old, it doesn't work well. But if you just started the bottle, this is probably not the problem.
Avatar f tn Not something that is helpful when you have 80,000 pounds on the fifth whee and a schedule to make. I would suggest prescription LANTUS. I would also never every recommend that he do something that would violate CFR regulations by concealing the fact he is taking Lantus with an insulin syringe. My own opinion is that use of Lantus together with Metformin, together with exercise and tight dietary control (and I mean tight) would not unduly hazard the general public.
Avatar n tn Ooh, this sounds miserable! I personally have not heard specifically of allergies to Lantus, but I have heard of people having allergies to other insulins. The allergy is not to the INSULIN, but to the agents that it is suspended in. The cases I remember from other people who have written in to ask about this kind of thing were usually hives in areas near where the insulin is injected, but I seem to remember one or two that just had hives in unrelated areas.
Avatar f tn I would continue to use insulin glargine, a recombinent insulin analogue (Lantus) without concern. This was the recommendation in the British Journal Lancet Vol 1, 374 issue 9649 p511-513 15 August 2009. The media has produced some fear based upon five studies that I have read, and used some statistical manipulation that would have failed me in "statistics one" in the eighth grade. The experimental protocols were pretty crummy.
Avatar n tn I had it in my head that I should be taking Lantus in the morning and at night. I have been having great readings. Watching what I eat and just now getting into a regular exercise routine. I had to take a new pen out of the fridge today and looked at the directions... says to take at night. So essentially I have been taking double the dose per day. Can this be bad? My readings do not drop below 80 and I feel great. I also take a small dose of Humolog with my meals.
544772 tn?1321285209 I am just so frustrated right now. I recently changed primary care doctors (4-6 months ago) and re-started going to see my endocrinologist. Now, completely my fault, I ran out of my long acting insulin - lantus pens (opticlick) and cannot for the life of me get the darned thing refilled! I ran out Sunday, realized it Monday morning when I went to get a new cartridge, put in the refill to my pharmacy that morning, and heck broke loose!
Avatar n tn I have to pay for the insulin myself, is there any help out there to pay for Lantus SoloStar for those who don't have prescription insurance?
Avatar n tn Lantus is very slow-acting and really rarely causes severe hypoglycemia, in my experience, for warning symptoms occur long before it gets severe. However, if the warning symptoms are not listened to, I have personally noticed that the hypoglycemia that eventually happens makes me feel worse than some of the quick-acting insulins do.
Avatar f tn I am on Lantus since Jan 2014 and find it very hard to addapt. I was told to use 8 units at bedtime no matter what my reading is at night now i have notice at night when my reading is 9.7 and give myself 8 units of lantus my reading is very high in the morning 13.8 or more now when is lantus then suppose to kick in . my mealtime insulien is 2 to 3 units at mealtime, Surely I have to give myself more lantus at night maybe 12 units.
Avatar n tn I would not switch taking your Lantus from night to morning without doctor supervision as this will leave you with out background insulin for too many hours. You could go into Ketonacidosis. You are right alcohol and exercise do affect the blood sugars. The exercise will lower your sugar, for several hours after the excurse is complete. You might also want to consider an insulin pump; they are a great way to keep your blood sugars in better control.
Avatar n tn I have a question regarding bolus insulin for snacks. How many carbs can he eat without having to bolus? He takes Lantus at bedtime, then Novolog for breakfast, lunch and dinner at a carb/ insulin ratio of 1:12. He goes to school all day, and sometimes gets hungry and I am wondering if it is necessary always for him to take insuling even for snacks? Any ideas/input would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn General feelings of itchiness accompany the outbreaks without apparent rash. I am attributing this to the new medication - Lantus - as all else remains basically stable in my life routine. I have tried correlating it with high doses of H due to high carb intake and then a possible mixing of the H with the Lantus. Neither theory panned out. Does anyone have any similar experiences?
Avatar n tn I am not a phycan, but i would highly suggest that you dcusss this change with your endocronolgist as you might have to do this over several days as lantus is a 24 hr insurlin. The other is that lantus really doies not have a peak so it should not effect your luch time injuection.
Avatar n tn This is his fourth day on Lantus. He is doing fine but I am having problems trusting the Lantus - when his b/s drops below 100, I want to give him a can of apple juice, and of course that causes a moderate high. Also, he is not interested in stopping to eat as many snacks and meals because he does not have to 'feed' the NPH. Are these common problems in families starting on Lantus? It's as if my son and I are not making the most of this honeymoon period of a good insulin.
Avatar m tn Do not dilute Lantus and do not mix Lantus with any other type of insulin. And, do not switch to another brand or type of insulin or change the dose or dosage time of any type of insulin you are using without first talking to your doctor.
Avatar n tn Hi, If this low dose of lantus twice daily is working for you without any problems, there is no reason to change it. Lantus is written as once daily but many doctors(including myself) and patients split the dose because even though it is supposed to be "peakless", it is not for some people. At low doses it works especially well as a split dose. Levemir can be used instead, and is more commonly written as twice daily.
Avatar n tn His nails are short and kept trimmed. He is on Coreg,Lantus, vit c,multivits and zinc. As well as synthroid and sinemet. We would love to help alleviate this itching sensation and protect his skin. any suggestions.
Avatar n tn So imediject has a valid point if you are taking Lantus in the morning. Many diabetics split their doses of Lantus and take some at night and some first thing in the morning so that peaking is minimal (for some of us, there IS a slight peak about 4 hours after injection) and the petering out of it as it wears off is also minimal.
Avatar m tn I have a diatetic kitty on Lantus, and yes, you can use the human glucometer. I use the Alpha Trak meter, which is an animal meter, but it is quite pricey, and it reads 30 points higher, so her range is anywhere between 70 - 160. The human meter ranges would be lower. I home test her - it is important to know what the blood glucose is before giving insulin, as you know. I learned everything about home testing from the people experienced with diabetic kitties on this site. Just type in www.
Avatar n tn Hello. I am T1 since Oct 2004, and switched to Lantus in Feb. Most of my BG numbers are very good (A1Cs 6.0 and 5.5), but since switching to Lantus, I have experienced 5 episodes of sudden and extreme drops in BG. They happen late morning, not related to breakfast, novolog dose or exercise. My BG is usually above 150 when it starts, and I must consume 150-200 grams of carbs (as juice or gel) to get it to stabilize, usually in 20-30 mins.
Avatar n tn Hello, wow I can relate to your daughter a ton. Okay I just got diagnosed a few months ago with type 1 and I am thirteen as well. I am on lantus and the Novolog pen. I know when I first started lantus I got very anxious and before I had to take it, just in a dead panic. I can not fully answer your question, but I need your help. Can you ask your daughter if her lantus burns, itches, and/or does the area she injects it (arm, leg, stomach) feel heavy or like a big knot is under it?
Avatar n tn T just start with a larger percentage, for either you would find yourself way high all day if you just cut several units from your Lantus in the morning without that extra Lantus the night before, or if you simply start the new night dose on top of the full morning dose, you will go low. One unit at a time is safe, but more is not. Hope that makes sense. The problem is that one dose is still working strong when you take the other one.
Avatar f tn Since he takes Lantus, you might want to ask his doctor about possibly switching his Lantus dose to the morning. Some of us who have problems with lows in our sleep do this, and the reason is that Lantus does have a peak time of action, about 4-5 hours after the injection. For some people, that peak is a stronger event than for other people. And so night lows can happen.
Avatar f tn I am somewhat disturbed you were placed on Lantus without a health-care provider ensuring that you knew everything possible about this drug.. I urge you to find a diabetes care center and take the basic "course" which is run by an R.N. or a Physician's assistant. Do not be afraid to ask questions and not be satisfied until you understand everything.. There are lots of good basic books available about diabetes. Buy one and read it.
Avatar n tn This is a wonderful resource for Type I's...often a minority in support groups, IMHO. My first posting to the forum although I've been type I since age 7...now a healthy 45 year old (female). I am mostly happy with the current combination of Humalog Pen and Lantus. My questions are in regards to Lantus: I understand the "non-peak" aspect...but personally dropped very low in early a.m.'s (about 4-6 a.m) after injecting on a regular basis at 10 p.m.
