Avatar f tn Is loss of appetite a common symptom of GERD. I have recently been put on Lansoprazole by my GP as a first step towards diagnosis of possible GERD (all my simptoms fit); however, it is not the medication that is causing my loss of appetite because this is one of the first things I noticed a few weeks ago, along with the other symptoms. It is unusual for me to lose my appetite. I am feeling hungry later on in the afternoon but am eating nowhere near what I used to.
Avatar f tn I presume that you have a little bit of extra weight on board if the ultrasound was difficult to perform. All of these changes are thus potentially reversible with weight loss. the very beginning of fibrosis is present. the foci of piecemeal necrosis is part of the inflammatory process associated with steatohepatitis.

605877 tn?1301700646 I was put on Lansoprazole on 26 Nov and my doctor put me on 30mg for a week and then said to reduce it to 15mg which i have done and taken for the last 2 weeks. however on Wednesday i missed a tablet and took it Thursday morning and carried on with my usual practise of taking my 15mg in the evening as prescribed by my doctor.
Avatar f tn My 6month old was prescribed .25mg of Prevacid because of GERD symptoms. The pharmacy wouldn't fill it until speaking with the doctor. I'm just wondering if anyone has an infant/child that was given the same thing? He's not losing weight but he has trouble sleeping at night and he spits up way too much and I've alread changed his formula 3 times. He sleeps better when propped up but putting the pillow under the mattress isnt enough.
Avatar m tn Hello Sorry first of all, this is going to be a fairly long read and thanks to anyone who takes a few minutes to pay attention. Starting from the beginning... I was at uni for a year, never ever had a problem with acid reflux, never got heartburn, never got anxious. Was always out, partying, socialising etc with not a care in the world.
Avatar f tn Anyway, a month later, (yesterday) I was prescribed lansoprazole but I have done some research and it says lansoprazole can cause kidney failure. Should I take these tablets or wait till Friday and get a second opinion from the hospital on my assessment?
Avatar m tn Late night snacking and poor sleep patterns too cause weight gain. Certain medications like antidepressants cause weight gain. Most of these problems can also cause symptoms you are having. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn t eat close to bedtime) and make some changes if necessary. If you need to loose some weight, then get on with it and if you smoke, then quit. That is the basic lifestyle changes that you can make and that should also improve your symptoms. In my experience ENT (throat) symptoms are alarming and should get checked out properly before any permanent damage occurs. All the best and please let us know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I have had GERD for over 10 years (been taking lansoprazole 30mg that whole time), and was recently diagnosed with a hiatus hernia and chronic gastritis after an endoscopy (along with very low vitamin D levels). Blood test does not indicate celiac disease, although results of intestinal biopsies not yet known. What I do not understand is that my weight is going UP, despite dieting. I am at my wits end and getting so low because of this. Does anyone have any ideas what could be happening??
Avatar m tn I had 3 operations in the first 5 years without success (it just came back) but a breakthrough came 4 years ago when my ENT specialist put me on lansoprazole, a PPI, believing that it was probably due to acid reflux (although I had no symptoms). The granuloma disappeared over the next 6 months. However, it sometimes comes back, or at least the symptoms do, every few months, but go again after 2 or 3 weeks. But over the last week or so symptoms have come back with a vengeance.
Avatar f tn I also forgot to add that I get chills as well, my hands will be cold (not clammy) I get chilld but no fever, this happens every day to every second day at most, the chills just started about a month ago. I just got a test done on friday to check the functionality of my gallbladder. I've heard that sometimes it could be something in the brain that causes nausea but that it normally also has the symptom of vomiting in which I haven't done.
Avatar m tn pylori after having a breath test done, and have been prescribed by my doctor - lansoprazole 30 mg - metronidazole 400 mg - amoxicillin 500 mg. All three medacation taken twice a day for a 7 day course.I am now into the 5 th day of taking them. There seems to be no side effects, the problems of bloating, discomfort (painfull at times) that comes and goes througout the day,has not eased at all. If these combanation of tablets were going to work, would my symptons have eased by now ?.
Avatar f tn The right side of my abdomen is now swollen, it is apparent that is is swollen due to the fact that the other side is sunken in severely after all the weight loss. I am beginning to worry and each day I feel weaker. If anyone has any idea what might be wrong, I would very much appreciate the input.
Avatar m tn fast weight loss is most of the time lost water and muscles. Fat takes ages to go away. Third: Think of a diet as something permanent. Crash diets just help you gain weight faster once they are over. So, pick some simple rules of a balanced and healthy diet, and follow them. Don't sweat it if you crave for something "bad", to a balanced diet belongs the bad side, too. If you give in now to a small piece of chocolate, it is much better than to eat two whole packages later.
Avatar f tn Yes please talk to your dr, there are many things that could cause rapid or excessive weight loss and some of them can be serious. In addition to Thyroid and GI testing maybe ask about diabetes. It seems odd, but it can cause weight loss.
Avatar f tn I promise you your completely fine. I'm 19 weeks haven't gained any weight. Lost weight and the baby is perfect. It didn't matter how tall or how much you weight as long as baby measures up during ultrasound it's perfectly fine.
Avatar f tn More can be lost through water weight with diuretics and crash dieting can also increase fat loss but only for a short time. When we lose fat too fast our metabolism will slow in order to conserve fat (fuel) deposits (starvation mode) and that creates new problems such a resetting the metabolic rate and fat gains during the plateau, etc.
